i'm having a hard time beating him.. can anyone tell me how to beat him? or help me?

i'm using Basch, Fran and Ashe.. they're level 24 i think. Ashe is the only one with two quickenings.. first time i tried fighting him he used some magic attack and killed her in two-three hits..

am i too low of a level? o.o

thanks in advance~!

I can't even remember the Gil Snapper, was it the big turtle? If so, I remember it was a bit tough, so maybe you are too low a level.

If I remember correctly, the Gil Snapper is level 37. You should be near that level if you wish to fight him. If it kills you in two or three hits, you won't be able to kill it so easily.

Agreed. The Gil Snapper is an Elite Mark and doesn't go down easily. There's no reason why you'd have to beat it now. Level up a fair bit and come back.

Oh, and BTW, if you have trouble getting it to appear, just remember that it only shows up during a heavy rain. You may have to make several attempts to get it to show up.

Nihopalaoa + Remedy is uber handy.

You'd need a pretty high clan rank for that, and not a huge amount of marks would be available at that point. UNLESS IT CAN BE PURCHASED ELSEWHERE, WHICH IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE I CONCEDE.

Nope, if you do every mark as it becomes available, you can buy it just prior to taking on ol' Snappy.

Well sir, I am well discredited ;_;

Oh, I forgot to mention (well I've mentioned it in other threads) that Niho + Elixer works on Snappy. One of the few enemies it works on, perhaps the only.

What like, outright kills him? That's spectacular.

Yep.

Wat does elixer + niho do to the gil snapper,
does it do instant death or 9999 damage?

Neg

Instant Death, as far as I am aware.

Nice one, pretty sweet allright... but is it gauranteed?

Neg

Again, as far as I know.

Thanks, will keep that in my mind for my next run through of the game.
Personally I would rather keep the elixer and attack him to death

Neg

Well, for some reason (and let me know if this is the case with you) my attacks weren't moving his life bar. I had a pretty bruising team even then, so I was flabbergasted. After a couple minutes, I just decided to try out my new toy and lo and behold it actually worked.

Cast Beserk on the Gil Snapper using the Nihopalaoa, he won't be able to cast Silence that way.

Or buy Ice Shields from Mt. Bur Omisace.

I forget but maybe he puts up a shield for a bit making him immune to physical damage. Loke the death gaze... But im not sure. The gil snapper was a long time ago for me

I thought the Gil Snapper just had a defense shield (which turtle monster in FFXII doesn't have tough defense? ;p) and not a shield that blocks physical damage. I'm PRETTY sure I killed it using physical damage.

Neg

Note that I didn't say I wasn't damaging him, I said the energy bar wasn't registering damage. For all I know, I could have banged away a little longer and had him fall.

I will never know o_O

I believe the reversed effect of elixir is to reduce the target's HP and MP to 1, not instant death. I could be wrong, though. It's a small distinction at any rate.

samonasuke

Maybe it was a glitch or something.........
Because I beat him by attacking the crap out of him with physical damage.

Doesn't it?

You'd think, but if you cast Renew on someone with Reverse status it drops their HP to 1. I'm pretty sure elixirs and megalixirs work the same way.

samonasuke

Yeah, I think it takes it down to 1 hp and mp, either way its not as if you have far to go after you've used the elixer........
