Hey, got a question for everyone.

I've accidentally not read up on my Penumbra section of the Pharos, and so now I put one black orb down there, and I'm screwed. Can anyone tell me how to either get more black orbs (I doubt it) or reset the thing (I hope so)?

You can always get Black Orbs in Penumbra.

You only get orbs from enemies located in the rooms in the four corners of the map. Also, occasionally you'll find Large Orbs that give you quite a few at a time.

Also, when setting Black Orbs, be sure you never go over the max (e.g. you need 3 orbs, you opt to put in five, you'll go over the max and there for nothing will happen but you will lose your five orbs).

You'll end up using like a gillion black orbs, and on all three levels of the Subterra, too. Just make sure to put them in one at a time so you don't go over. Some of the altars take a lot of orbs though, so you can guesstimate based on how bright the room becomes after adding an orb. If you just plopped down ten orbs and the room didn't brighten at all, you can safely assume at least ten more are needed without going over.

i hate penumbra, its so damn annoying, i think there should be more to penumbra than just the seer mark.....

Unfortunately for me, ever since I put that one orb there, those enemies don't appear...thus you see my problem.

Thats really strange, I think you must have made a mistake or something...
Have you tried checking the other corners of the level to see if you can get orbs there????????

A large black orb appears randomly on each level (Penumbra, Umbra, and Abyssal). The number of small orbs in the large orb is the number of small orbs that you DIDN'T collect from the enemies x 3. So if you kill 10 enemies and don't collect the orbs, you'll have 30 in the large black orb. Once you have obtained the large black orb, it will not reappear on that floor, so it may be best to wait until you've killed a sufficient amount of enemies. DO NOT equip the diamond armlet down there, there's some good stuff in those treasure chests.

EDIT: Interesting nugget of etymology:
umbra and penumbra are latin words that describe the dark center of a shadow and the hazy, lighter area next to a shadow. So when you hear an astronomer talk about a "penumbral" eclipse, he means that the moon will be in the hazy shadow area of the earth, and an "umbral" eclipse means that the moon will be totally dark.
