I assume you mean that you're currently playing the game, and you're at the point where you have to give the treasure sphere to the youth league or new yevon.

If you're going for a Perfect game in 1 shot, you MUST give it to the Youth League. (Although, if you don't know that already, I assume you're not going for the perfect game, because you've probably already missed some stuff in previous chapters.)

If you're not going for the perfect game, it makes no difference. IRL, I'd give it to Bevelle, since "Youth League" is a stupid name. :D

Hmmmm.....If I make two files...will there be a difference in story or will it be a waist of memory on my Memory Card?

The difference in the story is actually pretty negligible. I think it's mostly the commsphere material that changes in chapter 4. If you're curious, just play through again with new game+ when you're done and give the sphere to the other team.

It's not quite as negligible as that. If you give it to New Yevon, you completely lose access to Youth League headquarters in Chapter 5 and also don't get to participate in their battle tournament. Generally, it's considered to be more beneficial to give it to the Youth League, though, to get 100%, you will eventually want to give it to New Yevon in a New Game Plus.

As for getting for getting the 100% in one-stroke, yeah, it definitely is required to give it to the Youth League then. However, 100% in one playthrough is very difficult and completely unnecessary.

I only missed 100% in the very first run-through because I forgot to install a commsphere in the chocobo ranch...missed out on 3 dumb points...

games with newgame+ are too easy the second time around...and usually, i do nearly everything in the game the first time around. i dont like going back to a game a couple years later, saying: id like to play this again, but id rather not have to level up this time...'

though i think you restart at level 1 in ff10-2...

ooo, and i usually pick the youth league. it takes longer to get to their hq than new yevon, so i get the chance to level up alot so whenever i choose to start a new game+, i can completely dominate the beginning of the game.

herm, too lazy to delete that last part about the leveling up

New Yevon or Youth League? The first time I played it was Youth League.

I am going to start a New Game+ after finishing FFX first. I might choose New Yevon this time, just to see the alternate cutscenes and obtain different equipment.

If you want to accomplish 100% in one game starting from scratch, CHOOSE the Youth League!!

Choosing New Yevon will only let you get 99%.

However...whichever side you pick means that you won't be able to get some certain items. (i.e. You can only get the Blood of the Beast Garment Grid if you choose New Yevon.) With me, I pick NY, then choose YL on my Perfect Games.

Don't try to get 100% in one playthrough. It's both unnecessary and madness.

Now.. I finally remember why I chose Youth League in the first place. It ensured the 100% game completion. However, before my game got corrupted due to the memory card, it only had a completion rate below 70% or possibly even lower. I had missed tons of stuff on my first run. However, I don't intend on choosing the Youth League on my second run, because if I do it, I won't be able to see the alternate New Yevon scenes. There isn't much point to play the same game with the same route twice, unless its for 100% game completion which shall be achieved on my possible 3rd run.

Whoa whoa whoa! That's a false myth. Choosing New Yevon in your second playthrough actually gets you more completion. If you're playing for 100% and you're definitely playing through at least twice, it's madness not to choose the group you didn't choose before on your second playthrough.

It's not THAT madness... I've done it twice.

Granted, I did use a walkthrough, but it's not that time consuming. If by madness you mean trying to get it in one run without a walkthrough and with multiple save files (seeing as you can't check tenths of a percent) and doing the same thing on dozens of save files, then yes, that would be ridiculous.

My first time, I NEARLY did it, but the only thing I had missed out on was getting the Besaid gunner's gauntlet on my first try in chapter two. Didn't know you weren't allowed to mess up once.

Zak -- if you were really able to do it, more power to you. That must be an extremely good walkthrough, though. I'd be curious to know which one it was.

Er... on Gamefaqs, the one titled "100% completion guide". Give it a shot, it's fun. The only thing they were unclear about is the fact that you have to do the Besaid thing in chapter two on your first shot, which is why I messed up. but other than that it's a great walkthrough.

'K. Well, good to know there's one out there that seems to be completely solid.

I still think it's a bad idea...

First time through with 5(X=some low integer)% complete so I really don't know what I'm doing, but going through on New Game Plus is at least easier not in terms of crappy level 1 default but previously earned ability/sphere-masterings/item retainment.

But not the Crimson Spheres! I hate this game for being so complicated. And the fact that it says X-2 Project on startup. As if someone wants to play an incomplete game! (just ranting)
