and what did you think of it.

my last movie was Cube 3. D:

I didn't even realize this had been made until recently. it was really, really bad and I'm not hard to please with movies. the ending was particularly horrible, at the last second they try to tie it into the other movies in a super dumb way. urgh.

Transformers.

Okay, overall, I like it. I'm not a "G1er" who was angry right off the bat and stayed that way. I didn't like the designs at first, but I opened my mind to them and now I really love the Autobot's at least. My real gripes have to do with it as an actual movie. The Decepticons got screwed over on characterization. Simple as that. My personal gripes are just that, personal. It's just like the X-Men movies, I have things I would've liked to have seen done differently, but hey, I didn't make the movies and those things don't stop me from enjoying them.

I actually found this movie really disappointing. They just could have made the movie a lot better. I saw it with a friend who had never read the books and he absolutely loved it so I guess my take on it is if you've read the books it could be a tad disappointing with so much stuff they could have done to make it better. In all fairness, I still wouldn't count it as being amongst the best of horror movies. As with the majority of horror film sequels, parts of it are pretty predictable.

That film is a bit too long. I love Leone's direction but even TGTBTU dragged at points in my opinion. The scene when the whole family gets shot at the beginning is amazing though, one of my favourite scenes from anything ever.

I agree completely. I always loved the startup of the film too, how nobody talks at all but you can still make out what sort of character they are from there expressions and mannerisms.

AvP-R. I liked it. I don't know what people expect to see other than a predator wiping out as many Aliens as he can.

I know the plot is a bit silly and far fetched, but man, I wouldn't call it dumb at all. The actual plot structure was brilliant. The film looked fantastic and was really polished and all the performances were top notch too. I don't see what's not to like =(

KREAYSHAWN
01-12-2008, 02:18 PM
well, it was like 2 hours and 5 minutes long, but i figured out what was going on at least 40 or 50 minutes before the end, it was really obvious once the thing with the hats happened. i thought the plot structure was just slightly confusing at first, but nothing new, and not impressively implemented for what it was.

the three sort of segments of the film were supposed to follow the three parts of doing magic, right? it just seems like they really messed up the ending to me. they made it really obvious what was happening. you're supposed to have your eyes elsewhere and be like "woah!" for the climax/prestige bit, but they made it so obvious what was going on through omission. if they had done something really surprising at the ending that hadn't been obvious for half the film it might have been different, and that combined with how silly it was just didnt do it for me probably i'm just an oddball though.

MossY
01-12-2008, 02:21 PM
I got the twist at the hat bit too, but I dunno, I really enjoyed it anyhow. Same with a lot of films I guess, the Usual Suspects is a great film but I thought the twist was pretty obvious. The only twist that got me, that I can think of off hand, was Oldboy's but, I mean, that twist is so good that it still gets me on repeat viewings. Man, good times. Anyhow, I dunno, I guess you just didn't like it or whatever, BUT I RATE IT VERY HIGHLY.

it's a good movie, but it would have failed without meryl streep

i jsut say the orphanage, and it. is. INCREDIBLE!! it's kinda hard to explain, but i really recommend it to everyone. be warned that it's rated r for "some disturbing content" but i think the only part that is really bad is when someone gets hit by a bus. if you don't like that kinda stuff, just cover your eyes at that part. anyway, this movie is up on my top 10 list, and it's almsot as good as pan's labyrinth, but it isn't quite there. it falls like, a pont away from PL. also, note that, like pan's labyrinth, this movie is in spanish with subtitles.
