So in Usa we have Persona 1, 2nd half of Persona 2, SMT: N, SMT: DDS part 1, SMT: DDS part 2, SMT: DS RK vs TSA, and Persona 3. Besides this there are two Gameboy color games. Did I miss anything that came out in North America? How come the SMT: DS RK vs TSA game that came out last October wasn't popular I believe?

I haven't played any of the games but I will rent Persona 3 soon I hope. What ones have you played/beat and what do you think of them and the series?

The list you posted is very hard to read... And yeah, you missed some. I'm not sure these are the games you meant when you said GBC games, but these are GBA games: DemiKids Dark and Light Version. They belong to the Devil Children series. Also, why do you say the Last Bible II was released in the US when the page you linked to says it's Japan only?

Anyway, about Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army. I didn't know it wasn't popular. Well not less popular than the rest of the SMT games are in the US anyway... I haven't played it personally though, and I don't want to. Why? Well, I like my SMT games in modern Japan as opposed 1920s Japan. I also didn't like the graphics and character designs. The action in the game looked weak and I also heard it's one of (if not THE) shortest SMT games. Add all of that together and I don't see why I should play it.

Games I have played are Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Revelations: The Demon Slayer, DemiKids Dark Version and Maken Shao (which isn't a SMT game really, just the same dev and artist). I've also played a little bit of some of the older games on emulators. So yeah, not a huge SMT fan I guess. My first SMT game was Nocturne which I bought either last year or the year before that... But I'm definitely looking forward to Persona 3. Right now Nocturne is my fav SMT game, but Persona 3 has potential to become my fav.

You wanna rent Persona 3 you say? Well, from what I've heard, Persona 3 isn't really the rental type game. Plus, wouldn't you want the art book and soundtrack? I say buy it.

I am personally a fan of the SMT games, though I haven't played many of those on the list, but then... it is quite the list. I'm working on DDS now (and then I'll start on DDS2) and Nocturne. I tried playing Devil Summoner but I just couldn't get into it. The game play was just... dull, though I will admit my love for the characters and the soundtrack, but then I'm a big fan of Shoji Meguro anywho.

I can't wait for Persona 3, the date being pushed back has been irritating, but in the meantime, I'm playing Odin Sphere. ^^

I've only played DDS and DDS2 thus far, so I'm not necessarily entitled to give a very comprehensive and accurate opinion of the Shin Megami Tensei series, but, from what I can tell, I think I'll like most of these MegaTen games. The mature storytelling and philosophical threads in the series are just as interesting as the intricate gameplay and unique soundtracks. Persona 3 just came out and I can't wait to delve into it. Has anyone here bought or played it yet?

Yeah, I have it and I'm almost finished with it as well. I personally prefer it over the other Shin Megami Tensei games. Must be the day-to-day pace.

I rented it a few days back, and it is great. Here's something important...

The strength of the game is the story, characters, and voice acting. That's very good! Games get remembered for story, characters, and music. The music is alright though. It's a great game and I like it about as much as Rogue Galaxy but I don't need to buy it or beat it because my standards are extremely high(only Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect make my cut this fall). This is in part because I need more time and money to play more rpg's, I can't play all of them. I recommend Persona 3 to you! I'm 2 and a half hours into it. I just got a view of the town finally. I'll play it for an hour or two more and I'll turn it in and get Bioshock in 2-3 days.

So far only Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect make my cut for new rpg's to play this fall. The top possibilities are: Persona 3, Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Zelda: PH, and FF XII: RW. I already know I won't buy or beat Persona 3 although it is great. I wonder what my opinion will be on Bioshock and Blue Dragon when they come out and I rent them. I don't know if I'll play the last two games because I don't have a DS and can't rent them.

Knight From Beyond, how long is the game with no sidequests, and with 100% sidequests?

Who here has the game or has played it? What do you think of Persona 3?! :)

Knight From Beyond

I'm not sure. I've done most of the sidequest, and I'm pretty close to over 60 hours.

Do you think you'll finish the game by 75 hours? I thought the rpgamer.com review of the game said 80-100 hours! I'll look into this. 75 hours seems standard length for a console rpg nowadays, this is great!

Do you remember when console rpg's were 20-25 hours mostly! Gah! :D

P3 has taken my soul...best out of the series already.

Also I haven't really played many of the others. Just DDS because well I never really got into the old ones for NES and stuff, but damn there are a lot of MEGATEN games. Uhh I'll pass on playing those...for now atleast. Maybe when I'm old and wrinkly in some home somewhere.

Hi, I'm a newbie here, nice to meet you, guys...^^
I love SMT very much... And recently I've been playing the newest North American installment of persona series (P3!!! Great story, great gameplay, unique art...!!!). I think, Persona 3 is the hardest and the most complicated SMT game so far.. Because, to develope the commu, I have to reset and reset again... T.T It's quite challenging to max the commu in just one playthrough... T.T

I always hope great game like Persona 3 can be released in bilingual mode (Japanese voice and english text...). Noto Mamiko, one of the most wellknown Japanese seiyuu is contracted to fill Fuuka Yamagishi voice... T.T I hope I can hear her voice in the game... T.T

I also hope ATLUS as the developer and publisher of this game will be planning to release the Director's Cut version of this great game... Persona 3 FES.... (With the Aegis' Chapter of course..)

Let's hope that T.T ATLUS, please... here my voice... One of your fans...
Please, I beg to you ATLUS.... T.T

Welcome.
And I really do hope they bring Fes to the states but considering how long it took to get P3 out...I wouldn't expect it anytime soon

Also I heard you can download P3 US version with Japanese dialogue. O__o
Dunno how true that is though. Would be awesome.

Welcome! They said tentatively they won't release Fes in Usa but it could change. I'm 2 or 2.5 hours into the game, I'm renting it and it's great. :D

I hope they do release Fes here. It's suppose to add about 30 hours extra of gameplay.

I'm about 15 hours into the Persona 3 so far and I love it. I especially love the characters and I'm very surprised at how good the voice acting is. I think it's fantastic how well they've blended real life (school, friendships, etc.) with the surreal, it definitely keeps me caught up. And the art work and style? I think I could go on for a very long time about it, I love it. I really hope they bring Fes to the US, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Just wait until Summer Break...oh man the hilarity.

The music is pretty good but I can only imagine what someone just watching you play would say. I mean if you are just listening to the music constantly I bet it can drive someone insane Lol.

But before summer break is finals. D: Unfortunately I got the game a week late because I was out of town, so I'm not very far along.

I should try that out on my friends and see what they say. Of course, they'd probably wrestle the controller from me so they could play, but anyway. Is it strange that I find myself singing along during battle? I find the music to be very catchy, plus I'm already a fan of Shoji Meguro to boot.

I rented it, played it for three hours, it's great but I won't buy it or beat it, not enough time and money to get too many rpg's. I was three hours into the game and exploring Tartarus. Please tell me what happens in the story for the next two hours? I'm curious! :)
p.s. I rent Bioshock next.

Haha yea I aced the finals. Trying to impress Misturu but MAN she doesn' give me the time of day unless she is talkin about shadows .___.

And yea Shoji Meguro really added a different flava to this soundtrack. I definitely enjoy it and sing to it sometimes O___o'' "MASS DESTRUCTION"

You have to take tests in the game? Please explain.

Also, somebody please tell me what happens between 3-5 hours in the game, I returned the rental after three hours while I was exploring Tartarus. What is the strong enemy they are telling me to watch out for there?

Yes, you have to take midterms and final exams. You increase your academics by studying, donating money at the shrine, etc. and paying attention in class. Then come exam time you have to answer some of the questions that the teachers asked you (or Junpei) in class previously.

Well, two questions then. Did you make it to any of the full moons and which one? And how high in Tartarus did you get?

It gives me a choice to nap in class. Should I nap? Also, is there an option to drop out of school so that I can focus my time on other pursuits, such as Underwater Basket Weaving?

I don't know about any full moon. I got up to level 10 in Tartarus. Please tell me more! You tell me everything you know, you also mail me your copy of Persona 3 to me. Thanks! :)
