If you feel that you're too slow. Try and find some Chocobo Wings and customize some "Auto-Haste" to your armours. A few quick questions:
1. I know that you don't use Rikku a lot. So do you sell items such as "Grenades", "Fire Gems", etc? I have a feeling that you might have accidentally sold "Three Stars".
2. Do you have all of the Aeons (including Anima/Yojimbo/Magus Sisters)? If you are still having trouble with Jecht, I highly recommend using ALL of your Aeon's overdrives. Anima's and Magus Sister's overdrives are life savers with 99,999 damage each - if you've levelled up Yuna enough.
3. Are all of the party members completely done their own Sphere Grid area(I hope you know what I mean)? If you haven't continued beyond each character's own sphere grid, then you definitely need to.
I recommend leveling your physical fighters in Auron's, Tidus's, Wakka's, or Rikku's sphere grid. Auron's sphere grid will give your characters great strength and defense bonuses as well as good HP bonuses. I believe that Tidus's sphere grid would give your fighters lots of speed and agility. Wakka's sphere grid is pretty well-rounded.....Maybe it gives you more accuracy? I don't highly recommend this one as I do for the others. And Rikku's sphere grid will give you lots of HP and agility nodes!!
For your mages, make them go through Lulu's sphere grid. She gives out great MP/Magic nodes that can really save a lot of magic and put out a lot of damage. You can also make them go through Yuna's sphere grid because she gives out great speed and quite a few MP/Magic nodes. I would also recommend making your mages level in Rikku's sphere grid because her HP/Agility nodes make a decently defensive Mage.
You don't have to get abilities that each character has, for example, you don't have make Yuna learn 'Steal' or the 'Firaga' spell. I personally liked everyone sticking to their own class, but that was just me. I still had Yuna learn 'Luck' and 'Cheer', but I never made her cross class. Some spells like 'Ultima', you might want to consider making your most popular party members learn that. I only had two characters know Ultima (Kimahri and Lulu - who weren't either my most popular characters!) whenever I played through the game.
Kimahri could go into any direction once you first get him. I always waited until I had Auron and Ultima before I did any serious levelling with Kimahri. For Kimahri, I suggest making him level in Tidus's and Auron's sphere grid because Kimahri can be both speedy and a pretty heavy hitter (not as good as Auron though). That's just me though. For all I care, you can have him as a second black mage, healer, or thief. But even if you've put a little bit of effort into levelling him, you can make him take down anything like there's no tommorow. Most people give up on Kimahri because he isn't anything new or individually interesting in combat (save for his Lancet ability).
I hope I had helped with the 'Three Stars' information.
