As we all know, Sony made a bit of a mess at last years E3 by showing the world pre-rendered footage of Killzone 2, claiming it was a good representation of what the PS3 could do. Although it didn't even ran on the PS3. erm.

So, this year, a new E3, a new chance. Killzone 2, almost the exact same footage, only this time, it was real-time.

Question remains: is it good enough? Lets take a look.

Killzone 2, real-time, 2007 (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21490.html) (or hi-def) (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21504.html)

Overall, an awesome job, *thumbs up*, if I get a PS3, I may buy this as one of my first PS3 games.

Since I already have a PS3 and I'm liking what I see, I will be picking up this game. FTW!

I purchased the first Killzone in a hapless attempt to compete with my friend in Halo without a Xbox or a copy of the game. I enjoyed the campaign mode, but still couldn't play Halo to save my life. Anyway, this Killzone should be buy if one has a PS3, and both the trailer and gameplay are quite similar in looks. ::excited::

I saw the trailer live on G4 and I have to say (and I'm not that big of an FPS fan) that I was pretty impressed with what I saw. Hope the gameplay is great.

I watched some of the movies that I found on IGN.com last night and although the graphics were amazing...I did not like the idea that I saw the guy shoot an enemy NPC in the head and the dood didn't die. That kind of stuff kinda bugs me. I like head shots. I did like how bloody the game was, but ... seeing that guy waste a ton of ammo and time trying to destroy that electrical relay .. seemed a little too tedious. If I were to get a PS3 though, that game as well as Resistance: Fall of Man would be the first games I get.

If you played the first Killzone, that kinda crap happened all too often. You could sit there with your rifle, pouring boxes of ammo into one guy and he kills you from like 50ft away with his shotgun secondary weapon. But, those bad physics can help you sometimes too. Like when you fire the grenade launcher on the ISA rifle and though it explodes 30, 40ft away from the Helghast, he falls down dead. I hope they fix that problem with this Killzone...

never played any of those games. but i am an fps fan and i gotta say, the pre-rendered stuff compared to the real game gfx are really fuckign close. what i saw with my eyes as the only diff was that you couldn't see sheen/shine of certain things like maybe sweat or metal. like the real game gfx have dust everywhere so the shine is gone off of things. but imo that ain't a bad thing and i'm blown away at how nice it looks.

reminds me of f.e.ar. (prolly the most advanced fps i've played after hl) so i like it. it's nice.

Yeah I never played the original KillZone.. never got around to it. Always looked amazing. My first introduction to the KZ universe was the PSP tactics version. Pretty good game.

KZ2 looks amazing and I love the character design of the helghast. I always did. One of the things I'd love to read more into given the resources.

I've always admired killzone, though I never finished the campaign due to the fact that I don't have access to M rated games, soon I'll buy a gamestop, gift card and buy it online.

Believable? nah.

It reinforced my belief that all this crap about graphics is a load of hot air.

Seriously. Did anyone else the N64-era particles come off the post when the stationary gunner shot at it? Pathetic.
The graphics were generic. Good, but not amazing by any means.
It seems to have reached the bar set by Gears of War and certainly doesn't look any better.

Also, it looked barely anything like the really good looking pre-render except for the pretty skies.

Pre-render is obviously better looking but I thought what was actually going on in the real-time one was more interesting, and the graphics were fine to these eyes

I seriously don't get all the hype around this game..
Could someone explain to me what's so good about it so far?

It's a great shooter, that rapes Halos Socks off. Only goo thing about Halo is a rabid fanbase, just like every other shooter, it's all been done before.

Well, if I see Killzone, it reminds me alot of Gears of War, but in first person style...
Isn't that just like every other shooter?
I think the thing that makes Halo different from other shooters is that it's a game that is all about the story.. :D (not that I'm a fanboy, I'm even Dutch so I should love Killzone :P)
