How long did it take you?

Can't rightly say. I started collecting ingredients for all the Bazaar goods after I left Barhiem. So I can't tell you exactly how long I spent on those items in particular.

Yup. A few days ago. Getting the four Hells-gate-flames was not fun. That alone took several hours.

is it really worth the time?

I'd say its a great weapon. Its a very time consuming process true but its well worth it

I think if your gonna do FF 12 properly then you hav to get the Tournesol, its a must do, along with omega mark xii and yiazmat, i agree with darkladynyara though that the hells gate flames are the toughest to get

it is definitely a task that requires focus. Some of the loot can be poached, so you have to use the right weapon to attack, and it takes longer! (you can't simply pound with zodiac spear or there's no chance to poach).

As I understand it, "Hell Gate's Flame" loot can only be acquired in two ways: 1) poach from Wary Wolf, 2) poach or drop from Cerberus. And the percentage of this preferred drop is probably extremely low!

samonasuke

Its a rare poach from the wary wolf, being a rare game this makes it extremely difficult, from the cerberus, its also a rare poach but also theres a 5% chance of it as a drop if you have the hunters monograph. Hope that helped, or maybe it just completely disheartened you.

Yeah. I was very irritated with myself for not having read walkthroughs or tips beforehand on how to get the Zodiac Spear so I thought I'd redeem myself by acquiring the Tournesol instead. After days and tedious work of scavenging for the ingredients, all my work finally paid off and got the Tournesol. It's a decent weapon with decent combos. However, I'd say the Masamune is just a tad bit better or at least equal to it since it has the ability to do more combos especially when equipped w/ Genji Gloves.

Hell Gate Flames can take looong hours to find. I barely got the four in 2+ hours.

2 hours is a relativel small ammount of time to spend, some people including myself spent as much as 5 or 6 hours

the hell's-gate flames were a pain. I found that it was much more tolerable to go and get 1-2 at a time, then go hunt another ingredient, and come back. I swear, there's some kind of intelligence programmed into the game that knows when you're farming loot, so it can give you one or two right away, then makes you farm for hours before getting another one.

Tournesol was totally worth it, though. It kinda sucked that I got it before I god Ragnarok, Save the Queen, Sagittarius, etc. I would have liked to enjoy those weapons for a little while. :|

Yeah, i got it last but it was worth it, the strange thing is, i didnt even need it all that much, only for omega mark but for everything else there seems to be a better choice, personally I choose masamune and genji gloves over the tournesol but i suppose its just a matter of preference

Yeah, serpent eye,s not too bad to get, soul of thamasa for the high arcana was my biggest wall to climb over, Th funny thing is I already wasted two high arcana, what a bitch

You shouldn't be irritated with yourself, not seeing as how it is ridiculously unfair to have not made it in some way possible to know what chests can't be opened in the game itself.

Even though the sword packs on a substantial amount of attack power (130 or something like that) and +25 evade, i felt that the actual pursuit of the tournesol ingredients was more trouble than the sword was worth.

In order to even obtain the loot needed for the sword, requires you to complete certain high ranked mob hunts, and slay creatures in places of the later end of the game (Nabreus Deadlands and the Subterra of the Pharros) which becomes painfully redundant and boring (I'm not going to even get into the hell's gate flame). And to even concieve of obtaining this loot from places like the subterra requires you to be at a high level anyways, in which at that point your already powerful enough to fart on Vayne and reclaim peace in Ivalice; well, at least until final fantasy tactics...

I suppose the only reason for buying the tournesol is because of its trophy value or use in the yiazmat and omega mark; and that doesn't really justify the usefullness of the sword because of the ridiculous amount HP from yiazmat and crazy difficulty from omega...but uhhh, just my opinion.

samonasuke

I think its worth it, even if just for the trophy value....................And that alone, in my opinion is worth it. But is does come in handy in the omega mark XII fight, and I think it makes killing vayne so much sweeter when done with the ultimate weapons (tournesol is third in my opinion, after wyrmhero and masamune)

If you find a nice appreciation for the time and effort put into obtaining the sword, then its worth it.

However, I didn't feel this way, because the methods in which to obtain the loot for the sword were more tedious then difficult per se. It seemed to me like shopping for groceries and trying to obtain that one coke bottle cap with a prize; And then having to do that over and over and over....so on. Once I finally got the damn thing, I wasn't overjoyed but more so relieved...

Hmm, Wyrmhero blade huh... I was pissed when I realized how slow the thing was.

samonasuke
08-02-2007, 12:16 PM
Slow, but with an 80% percent multiple rate, its incredible, but by the time you have the wyrmhero blade you could kill anything unarmed without breaking a sweat................................I pissed all over vayne I found him so weak

MidgarResident

I figured the rate of multiple hits was up with that sword, mainly because i was doing 3 hit combos with each hit...ha! What's up with the weird sounds, when blocking?

How do you obtain that rank? It seems to me like another crazy escapade to reach.

As was stated in this (Thread 42846) thread, Order of Ambrosia is not extremely difficult to obtain.

I thought getting the tournesol was fun. :) I didn't have to go to Pharos Subterra for a single thing. The Hell's-gate flames though...yeah. That's the hardest part, no doubt.

Actually, I thought getting a lot of the bazaar weapons was fun. Whale Whisker, Orochi, Sagittarius, etc.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I guess all thats left for me is the clan hunts.

You're right, you don't have to dwell around in the Subterra if you manage to steal from rare game, and manage to steal from Zodiark (Serpentarius, and if your even luckier, a high Arcana along with it). Although, I found stealing for rare game was just as annoying as fishing for dropped loot...

samonasuke
08-03-2007, 01:02 AM
Its worth it, and I think you should try and get the tournesol before you take on zodiark, just so you get to take on 1 more strong boss with the tournesol.

The Entites are the most annoying enemies for me to get loot from. Havent gotten a single Halcyon, aside from the one you get from a sidequest. Ive never had any trouble at all with Hell Gate Flames though, the things I had trouble getting in that forest where mystletainns and moondusts :[

Get serpentarius from the bazaar. Much easier. (Fucking fishing game...)

samonasuke

Serpentarius is easy.

a few things you should know when making the Tournesol
1. You can steal soul Powder from the a rare game in the Necrohol I forget the name, hes not the Oversoul or the Helvinek.
2. You can steal the soul of thamasa from the Ishteens in the Barheim Passage.
3. You can steal Damascus Steel from the rare game Anchag in the Paramina rift.

I think the rare game in the nechrohol is Vorres
