OK, well I always wondered...is it true that aeris and aerith are twins? I mean I know Aeris died, but then i was playing Kingdom Hearts and they called her "Aerith". I was really confused...I also thought at some point in the AC movie she was called Aertih...

yeah they're twins. in order for a wolf to keep itself clean, it will hold a twig in it's mouth, and very slowly walk into a river/lake. and the mites/fleas will walk up and up his body. while all the time he keeps his head out of the water. and than all mites go up the twig and he drops it and walks out clean.

that's why aeris was in the water when cloud saved her.

It's already well known that Aeris and Aerith are the one and the same. Just a translation error with the name.

Since when is a wolf a character from a computer game? In all of your other posts I've read here (mainly in this thread and the 'Who Loves FFVII AC' thread) you have demonstrated a complete lack of common sense and an inability to understand facts when they're presented to you.

For the last time, the wolf in FFVII AC is NOT, repeat NOT, Aeris! It's been proven in that thread anyways, so please just STFU you stupid idiot!

It's Aeris and have always been Aeris.
Just a mistake in the translation which made some dumb fanboys think Aerith is ''correct'' . Now we get to hear the stupid name Aerith in some cases . Just because the Japanese can't pronounce it like that, doesn't mean her name is Aerith.

Err.... the Japanese write it Aerith. Not Aeris.

Since the name originated from there, I would say they got the spelling right.

Her name is spelled Aerith Gainsborough even in Japanese, not Gainosuborough or something like that.

Tifa Tockheart, Rinoa Heartilly, Cloud Strife, etc...

Where do you go get all this nonsense.

Tifa Lockheart, Cloud Strife, Squall Leonheart, Laguna Loire, Rosa Farell, Rinoa Heartilly, Cecil Harvey, Kain Highwind, etc...

All the names of the characters have had their names spelled in their proper way when they revealed them in the Famitsu magazine. The way they write them when they use hiragana and katakana in the games in an other matter.

It doesn't change the fact that the creators do understand english and wrote them properly. Aerith should have stayed Aerith. Just like the english word cloth isn't going to be written Clos.

Japanese tend to fuck up English just as much when naming westernized characters, or when sounding out certain linguistic sounds.

Best gag ever.

Personally, I'd go with "Aeris". It just sounds much sweeter and looks much cuter on paper over "Aerith".
If I recall correctly, the only time Tidus' name is ever mentioned is in Kingdom Hearts, where they refer to him as "Tee-dus" instead of "Tide-us", like many fans insist on.
Alas, my memory is not as good as it use to be.
Could someone verify this?

Aeris or be shot.
That's a threat.
It's true KH's take on names is a controversial topic and I wish AIDS unto them for such crimes, BUT, the Aeris/Aerith thing stays into FF7. Now to me Aerith doesn't even sound like a word.

it has been confirmed that his name is tee-dus and guess what if you insist on being one of those people who swear they have to say things in japanese for them to be right. the pronunciation is the SAME. The very same with the accent and if you ask me people bitch about this way to much not saying that anyone is now but you know in general.

I refer to her as Aeris/th in general conversation on the boards; that way I'm covered. Though I personally prefer Aeris. She's Aeris in both the PC and Playstation U.S. English translations of the game, though Aerith in the Kingdom Hearts games.

I actually heard that "Aeris" is really supposed to be "Aerith" because in the japanese language, there is no "th" sound and instead it is sounded as an "s", therefore, they would say "Aeris" instead of "Aerith". If you think about it, in japanese Romaji, it is pronounced "Earisu" and if you notice, it has an "s" in it instead of "th". It was supposedly meant to be "Aerith" though, like "Sephiroth" as his japanese pronounciation is "Sefirosu", thus the 's' again. In truth, "Earisu" was mistranslated to "Aeris" in the FFVII game So technically "Aerith" in Kingdom Hearts is the right translation. That's what I heard anyway. I use both names regardless, LOL! Hope that helps. ^_^!

Yeah, Aerith is the correct translation of the name, but my guess is that they changed it to Aeris so people who speak English/American won't have a hard time saying it.

But honestly, it's kinda stupid to argue over something as silly as a name given to a video game character. IMHO, it's pretty fucking nerdy.
