Srsly.

Best? Not really sure, they all have merits and down points.

I'm tied between IX and VI. Great sets of characters, atmospheric music and locations and they both have decent gameplay.

Also, in before 'FFVII Vs [FF Title here]' debate.

I never finished V so I'll say VIII, I like love stories.

Final Fantasy VIII. First FF game I played plus Squall is such a great character.

I have 3 FF games, VII IX and X and i liked them all.

I love love stories so I'd have to agree with you in saying that VIII was the best

I guess I like love stories too... or at least, stories that can wrap your emotions up in them.

FFVIII is also my favorite, but FFX comes in a pretty close second for me.

My personal top ones are FF IV-VI (tied), VII, IX and VIII (in no particular order).

XII would take a spot there is it had more story telling going on. Because I really enjoyed it's gameplay and it's longevity. Its story just lacked emotions and I think it wasn't developed to its full potential.

X was overly boring to me.

You'd hate them. Nobody who likes the shit games in the latter half of the series (VII and VIII) and dislikes the good ones would like 1-6.

I personally think FFX is the best, because of the story, the graphics, the characters, the locations, the... everything. The opening, the Crusaders battle, the battle with Sin, the wedding... everything captivated me~

FFVIII was the first one I played, and is still my second favorite. That game is amazing, too.

The rest... well, eh.

VIII. I'm down with the love story and music, most of all was the setting-gardens, SeeD, Esther, etc. really stood out.

meh i will still give them a go, ive finished all the Playstation versions to the fullest, well just taking on yiazmat now...once hes down ill be bored so im gonna start at 1 and go up from there

i just finished the first star ocean game that came out for the SNES and thats old as..

if the story line is cacthy and characters are decent im into it

I just need to say that, this maybe the shittiest thread ever made in the history of the internet. This question has been going on for so long I don't really think anyones interested now. This one has just arrived far, far too late for anyone to care. Everyone's pretty much realized that this particular thread topic his no meaning whatsoever anymore. If you really cared what our opinion was, you wouldn't start another thread, you'd use the search function and look at the thread with the biggest amount of pages.

what do you expect, he's a noob. He doesn't know just how divided we are with this topic.

Basically, what you have to remember is that we're divided like this: 1-6 fans, 7 fans, 8 fans, to a lesser extent 9 fans, and your PS2 FF fans.

Me, well I've only played 1, 7-10, and 12

1 - I love the original, it got me started on RPGs
2-6 - I never played them so I have no opinion.
7 - kicked ass
8 - I absolutely hated, I would elaborate, but everyone here hates debating on this, hence the reason for Doc Sanchez's post.
9 - loved as much as 7
10 - really didn't like where the story headed (much like 8)
11 - I hated the whole online concept of forcing you to play online to really complete it.
12 - so far so good, I'm still a fan of the super deformed manga characters, but I overlooked it for this one.

Actually, I would say I'm more of an FFT fan. I'm addicted to Tactics, and can't wait for the PSP version

i have played them all and the best imo was FF, back to the roots.... IV was second,V is third, VI is fourth, VII is fifth, FFIX is sixth and to me the rest just blew way too much to even mention.... but FFII and FFIII were the best of the ones that i think blew.

The whole middle is Zidane, Vivi, Dagger and Quina journeying to the Outer Continent in order to find Kuja. He doesn't just randomly appear.

I'm gonna say final fantasy 9. It was the first final fantasy I played and I loved everything about it, the storyline, the music, the characters, and it had the best cutscenes I had ever seen at that time. It also got me started at playing all the other final fantasy games. I still think of it as my favorite video game of any I have played.

Almost everyone here knows that FFX was my favourite. So here's my order:

1. Final Fantasy X
2. Final Fantasy VIII
3. Final Fantasy VI
4. Final Fantasy V
5. Final Fantasy XII
6. Final Fantasy IX (I never really liked it)
7. Final Fantasy VII (I really don't get how this game got such a huge fan-base)
8. Final Fantasy X-2 (They really should've stopped at X, in my opinion)

I liked FF8 more than most of the others because i like the storyline and stuff

At the peril of sounding like a completely generic FF-lover I would say that VII is my favourite, just because it was the first one I played when I was still very young. After that, it's IX, because that's just a very good game (although it misses some depth and freedom in what chars are on your team).

After that, it would be VIII, because even though I really like the story I really think they missed bigtime with gameplay. The characters seem weak and Squall gets too strong too fast in comparison with the other team members.

IX. I'm pretty sure it's the greatest game of all time.

That might just be the nostalgia of it being my first RPG, but I played it again a little while ago, and I still thought it was excellent.

Repyling to the topic in spite of myself. My favorite is IX, because it's the first one I played when I was still rather young. X is the one I've gotten the most involved with emotionally, while XII has the best gameplay as far as I'm concerned.

FFVI ftw i mean the storyline was awesome the boss battles were intense, the music was brilliant and also who is going to deny that Kefka is one of the most loved/hated characters in FF history or so i think X3

FFX-2 is the best of the bunch. It's a shame I never got to finish it. FFIX would be a close-enough-to-mention second.

Basically for me, they just keep getting worse and worse. By no means bad games, I just seem to prefer the older ones. FFIV (FFII as I thought it was at the time�I've since played the "harder" version on PSX) is still my first played and favoUrite. I still find it to be the most difficult of all of them I've played so far. I can appreciate that slightly higher degree of difficulty. Unfortunately, I have not played any of the others not mentioned. However, I'm looking to remedy this and just ordered I, II, V, VI (still love this one) and VIII.

i've completed all but IV and have to say they have all got better with each new release. That said my favorite would have to be VI, i've completed it more than all the others but its a tough descision with VIII also. The only step back in my estimation would have to be X-2.

Most people would put 12 before 10 but I thought 12 was a blast.

No, for me it's FF VIII for pure gaming reasons and some personal ones too.

On a FF SW note, UK shriners will know the film played on Channel 5 tonight. I watched it again and saw a lot that I liked. Well, more than on previous viewings. Being barely off my mother's tit on this site I assume there are some Sprits Within threads in the archives.
