Because he hates it wyhen people retag his rips, but still its no excuse for him not top share his stuff. He doesn't even upload to the GFF FTP's Any more which is gay.

I've always felt rippers who get upset when their links are shared elsewhere are just being morons. People can still appreciate what they do without having to download their rips specifically from where they want you to.

They have no right to be upset, especially considering most of them pirate music anyway. The artists and composers of pirated music can't stop people around the world from downloading their music for free; they don't want that happening at all. So why should rippers think what they do should be any different and that we should respect what they want?

Hey I've got no problem if this Rick dude wants us to visit "his own community" as OrangeC put it, to download his stuff and thank him and tell him how great he is etc., but if we don't know WHERE IT IS!! then what are we supposed to do?

I PM'ed him about it on the other forums and he said: "I already uploaded both rips (and alot of other non publicated rips) to very trustfull sites (outside of GFA). You might dig into it, finding these game-music dedicated sites"

He told me a similar thing.

I don't think he minds people sharing his music here, it's the fact some remove all the tags on his tracks.

Forgive my ignorence Thalin, if you'll indulge me: Why would someone remove his track tags? Assuming this Rick fella names tracks as he rips he's in the best position to judge that the trackname should be and if one removes them, you just get Track 1, 2, 3... etc with no information on who composed the music? Seems a bit silly really.

His naming format is basically: 001-Call_Of_Duty_3_-_O-G-A_Track_001-[DVDRick]

I don't know the details, but I think he tags some of his tracks as 'ripped by DVDRick', then some people on these boards remove that so he is not credited as having done the rip, then they release it themselves. I'm not sure.

He has done a splinter cell Double agent rip and a GRAW2 rip, but he never releases it, and it annoys me because i know that it was done but he doesn't want to share it.

Well, I understand him. He worked on his Rainbow Six Vegas Rip more than 4 hours.
Now I want to see you when a random guy with some webspace comes and says "it's my work" or at least "it's not your work". That's what happened on GH.

For example his 24 Original Game Audio. It was retagged so there was no clue that it's DVDRicks rip.

But its no reason not to share his rips. i mean then if he rips a game, and he only shares it i his private community right? Then he says to us feel free to hun these down, But the problem is WHERE THE HELL ARE THESE SITES!!

You know. i have no problem downloading from whever he wants me to download. But if i cant fidn it, then i cant download.

I absolutely have no problem how/when/where people share my rips. I love gamemusic as much as you do, so I try my best to rip these games so I can enjoy the music and you too.
Also I dont care if people rename, delete the nfo, or whatever to keep the rips how they want it.


BUT, if people remove the credits at all and/or replace it with their own and claiming they ripped it, thats what I have a problem with. Its a unwritten law by people who respect others work.

No seriously man, I wasn't intentionally being sarcastic. Well apart from the Elvis bit, but I think that was obvious :-P I honestly thought that as it was a "first post" that some dweeb had registered DVDRick's name just to make a point.

Anyway, after finding an FTP last night with some of DVDRicks older rips like the aforementioned 24 and COD3 with his original tags and .nfos and comparing them to the files that I got elsewhere, I can see the issue for myself first hand and it has made me more angry than before as his work is awesome and he should be commended for the quality and volume of rips he's done and shared with the community. Unfortunately a community of which some of it less scrupulous members have bit the hand that fed it and forced him into self-imposed exile where we cannot enjoy his work anymore. It's a shame. :-(

I agree with Dragusssss, where can we find the soundtrack? I've searched through GFF, and I honestly can't find the bloody thing.

Quick observation and Thoughts..

As the REAL DVDRick is now here, why in hades portion doesnt he share his rips, his way, the way he tagged them and put his own claim on the here with the people of FFShrine, it would solve a lot, if not all the problems surrounding the amazing Ricks Rips...If not, then i guess this Farce will never end lol

But according to Joel Golsmith, he's waiting on Activision for final approval to have the rights to release the Call Of Duty 3 Soundtrack.
