hey there. i am new to this forum. but im not going to bore your life away about that.

i was just playing ff9 and ive just found a major glitch and was wondering how i can get passed it.

the problem is ive got the hilda garde 3. and havent even been to kuja's palace not even once(where you meet hilda and turn cid back into a human and he makes the hilda garde 3)

how did i do it you ask?

CHOCOBO!(might of spelt it wrong ^^)

as soon as i got the blue narcasis i started training choco up. ive got all but two of the chocographs and have found most of the treasures in the cracks and bubbles. i left the blue narcasis at the beach near chocobo's lagoon. as it is rather lame. and flied about on choco.

i thought it would be a good idea to start playing the actual story line again. with abit of an unfair advantage (ragnarok..garnet..pumice piece..good cards ^^..and been to dagereo) and flew to the black mage village where your suppose to talk to a mage to find out where kuja's castle is.

to my horror i went there on choco and the whole village was their!

so i went to go get my blue narcasis. and it was gone =-O

and in replace of it was the hilda garde 3 sitting on the beach!

the weird thing is.that im supose to be looking for terra.but cant get to it because i dont have the four mirrors.

should i try and go to get those mirrors or not?

i think it messed up becase i got the ribbon before going to the cold island. when mog turns into that eidolon.

someone help me!

Yeah, I've heard about this but never seen it. Maybe the Ribbon was the cause, but I thought it was something to do with finding Ipsen's Castle early... either way, I think you've skipped a big portion of the game. You should still be able to go to Ipsen's Castle and carry on from there, but I don't think you can go back to the bit you missed any more, unless you have a backup save from before it happened. =/

I guess you should result to a previous save or you're pretty much sol. I've never heard of a glitch this bad before.

yeah it was all to do with ipsens castle.

but its still fun! my characters have leveled really fast from doing this from like lvl 20 to 40! and the fact that i have good weapons is allways nice ^^

and it seems that dagger has cut her hair in secrecy and decided to talk.

im glad the party have accept her ^^

anyone else had some weird glitches in the game?

ps. ive decided that the best party for me now is. zidane,vivi,eiko,freya.

as you dont hear steiners armour rustling away ^^

This sounds like the "Gold Chocobo Bug" as described in the Gold Chocobo Bug FAQ at GameFAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/game/197338.html).


According to that guide, the only way to undo certain things is with a GameShark. However, certain stuff you said doesn't quite seem to match up with what you said in that document. For example, you said on yours that Dagger has cut her hair and is talking; whereas with the bug described in the guide, she remains in her "depressed" state permanently when it comes to battles. But you might want to take a look at it, as it seems the closest thing I can find to your issue.


Anyway, this is the first I've seen someone on the Shrine mention being affected by this bug, or any variant of it. Is there anything unusual about your copy of the game. The person that wrote that FAQ said "Also, it might have to do with the fact that my FF9 is an original copy, purchased one day before the actual release date (Electronics Boutique sold FF9 as soon as they got the
shipment in, which was one day before)."

He wasn't trying to skip any part of the story, he was doing every sidequest to its fullest as soon as it became available. I do that too. That's how you get over 200 hours on XII without ever finishing the story xD

I actually keep her in my party when she's in that state. Dedication to the character, I suppose. She's really hit or miss in her summoning and healing, but I stick it out just to keep her around.

dagger is lame when she is depressed.

the only reason you should use dagger is if you havent got vivi in your party.

and what type of noob would not have vivi in the party?!?!?!

LOL. I too prefer using Eiko to Dagger, but I usually don't use Vivi. I consider him overrated and he just doesn't really do much for me.

But I guess that's really neither here nor there, as there as other topics to talk about favorite party choices / characters.


In any case, I agree with Knegative in that there was no attempt to skip any part of the story here. 1337_at_ff --- I'd still be interested in any other details about this glitch you can provide from a pure curiosity standpoint, since, as I said, this is the first time I know of that anybody on the Shrine mentioning having been affected by anything even at all similar to that "gold chocobo bug." You said that you "flew to the black mage village" --- on Choco? When did you first notice that your chocobo had gained the ability to fly?

you got the gold chocbo too early. you should just wait till after you place the shrine mirrors. or just wait till disc 4. unless you want the best weapons and avoid the chocgraphs that evolve your chocobo
