I'll cry if this really is the score...
Brian Tyler was officially confirmed for Rambo IV only a month ago. He has indicated that his score will incorporate Jerry Goldsmith's original themes from the first three scores (there are none here.) The film is not due for release until 2008. This does not sound like Brian Tyler at all. There have been no announcements that Tyler has even started scoring Rambo, let alone recorded it. This does not sound like a session - it sounds mastered and the synth embellishments sound finished and well mixed. You can see where I'm going with this.

I don't know what this is, but it's not Rambo, and it's not by Brian Tyler.

Thanks for posting though! :)

[Edit: Heh, crikey... I've just realised this is my first post... Way to make a good impression... I'm not a miserable git, honest...]

same impressions for me; this sounds not like a real rambo-score...if it is
tyler's composition; i would really prefer they would use goldsmith-tracks...

It sounds like bits of the score they used in the trailer, and maybe thats all this is. Just something throwaway for the teaser trailer.

With the movie coming out in 2008, it's highly unlikely even begun filming, let alone the scoring process. (although I could be wrong about the filming, considering I didn't even know a Rambo IV was going to happen.)

In the trailer/promo footage they used a little bit of the First Blood score by Jerry Goldsmith, and the rest was from Reinhold Heil's and Johnny Klimek's Land of the Dead score.

At first, sorry for my bad english (I didn't learn very well my english lessons at school !!!)...
So...
This music is not the new Rambo soundtrack...
This music is the end theme of the movie "land of the dead"...

And I hope that Jerry Goldsmith music appears in the new Rambo movie !!!
see you !

Thanks for confirming that. I guess we'll be waiting a bit longer... I don't hold out much hope for this score, though... Never liked Tyler, and, well, trying to replace Goldsmith is really impossible.
Cheers

Thats why the music sounded so familiar, I knew I heard somewhere before. Well that's good that it's not actually part of the score.

I really think it's important to recognise that the recently posted suite from Tyler's RAMBO score constitutes, for more than half its running time, a rather bad re-recording of Jerry Goldsmith's glorious original Rambo theme. This is not by Brian Tyler.

The Suite breaks down as follows:

0:00 to 2:53 -- bad recording of Jerry Goldsmith's concert arrangement of the Rambo Suite. This has sweet bugger-all to do with Brian Tyler, except to say that it's badly, flatly performed and has been thinned out somewhat in its orchestration. Don't bother. Get hold of the original theme as conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. (The concert suite is track 11 on the First Blood score.)

2:55 to 3:19 -- vaguely original Tyler music, but based on Goldsmith's theme.

3:19 to 4:18 -- Goldsmith's theme with crap Tyler rythym in the bass strings.

4:18 to end -- Crap Tyler theme based on Goldsmith's, with a bit of pretty decent Goldsmith-pastiche going on in the orchestration. Leads into boring Tyler crap.

SO many people are giving Tyler credit for what he didn't - and doesn't have the talent to - do.

Jerry Goldsmith is your man, folks. Please honour his memory.
