I recently picked up a Dreamcast and Shemue for 12. Great game. What other games are worth picking up for Dreamcast. I have a UK pal edition so need games that were released here. Any advice appreciated.

-Skies of Arcadia (if you're a fan of RPGs, don't miss this one!)
-Sonic Adventure 2
-Street Fighter Alpha 3 (best console version of the game)
-Soul Caliber (I still think the first one is still the best in the series)
-Jet Grind Radio
-Ecco the Dolphin -Defender of Earth's Future (although it's a love it or hate it game)
-Resident Evil - Code Veronica (you might find it for almost nothing. But if you get the chance to get it on the PS2 or the Cube, then don't bother since these 2 versions are better)
-Metropolis Street Racer (The original title that started the Project Gotham Racing series)

That's about the only titles that comes to my mind for now. It's been a long time I played this console, and I don't have one anymore. I hope my little list will help.

You must get Shemmue II. The UK version has English subtitles. It's one of the best DC games out there.

ShmupFighter: yeah, that too!!! ^^

I live in North America so I never got access to the Dreamcast version (Fuck you Sega!!! - and microsux) but yeah, I got to play it on the Lunch-Box and it's even better than the first! (which is no small feat!).

Skies of Arcadia is definitely better than Grandia 2. The only good thing about Grandia 2 is its battle system. The rest is very forgettable.

Skies of Arcadia has better graphics, a better story, better characters, airships battles, and the list goes on.

While Grandia 2 has only its better battle system to keep you playing through its boring clich storyline, empty characters, awful voice acting and average musics.

I agree with Hynad. Skies of Arcadia > Grandia 2.

The game has a beautiful, and huge world to fly around in. The ship battles and giga battles are truly unforgettable. And the soundtrack is excellent. The only thing that I didn't care for was the music during the on-ground battles. It's the same tune every single time, except for when you're fighting bosses. It got quite annoying after a while.

Other great UK DC games:

Giga Wing
Gunbird 2
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
REZ
Cannon Spike

Maybe he connects better to Ryudo than to Vyse. :P

Although, I vehemently disagree with you on the music, it was one of the best IMO. Though I agree with you on the rest, you also forgot to mention that the difficulty of Grandia II is a joke.

Other suggestions would be Quake 3 : Arena, Star Wars Episode 1 : Pod Racing, Ooga Booga, Re-Volt and MDK 2.

Why hasn't Powerstone been mentioned? if you see this game then get it! it's and the best Dreamcast game I ever played, there is a version on PSP too.

I love powerstone and most of the games mentioned so far. But also, Unreal tournament the original one is really fun 4 player.

I also bought this american football game for the dreamcast, was really funny beacuse you could just tackle for the hell of it, oh the 2 player chaos.

The dreamcast wasn't actually a bad console just lacked a wide range of good games.

Power Stone was the very first game I had for my DC. It came with the console, along with Sonic Adv., as a package. Man, we used to play it all until out thumbs were throbbing. Good times. Power Stone is still fairly cheap to buy online. But Power Stone 2 is one of the more rare games that came out on the Dreamcast. You better get it now before it goes up to $100+ status. :D Seriously.

Hello 2 year old thread. How's time been treating ya?

Let's try to only post in threads on the first page of a given forum. That's a good rule of thumb. If you'd like to make new threads on the topic of a long dead thread, that's perfectly fine.

Welcome to Shrine ^^
