Well I don't see a thread for this yet. If there is one then slap me.

Just saw the midnight premier of this-- not gonna give any spoilers or anything but whew. That was a crazy ride.

I think I missed a lot, was really tired for one and the plot is pretty high pace (Spider Man 3 was a lot easier to keep up with imo).

Some really long fight scenes in this one, almost went overboard with CG. Really nice though. Very well done. I liked it-- still the first is the best to me.

Mmm.. Yeah.

Anyone else see it yet? Thoughts?

So a lot of thrilling action. Alright, I'll take it. Thanks for the tips and thanks for no spoilers XD

I hope there would be a 4rth movie, but its not that likely :(

Actually, I just finished watching it. Surprisingly, it was really good. I thought it was going to be cheesier than the 2nd, but I liked it.

I found it somewhat predictable, though I have to say excellent action. The scene with much action combined with a cute romance scene was enjoyable- I liked that part the most.

I watched it yesterday and thought it was good but not great.

It was too long and you kind of lose the plot at times because there's so much going on at once. The animation was top-notch though and the fighting scenes were pretty decent. Also, loved the score to this movie which was predictable coming from Hans Zimmer. I give it a 7.5/10.

Making an actual comment; I enjoyed a lot of the movie. Elizabeth's "positions" both felt really rushed in their acquisitions and the Pirate Lords didn't do much....however, I loved the action and the CGI. And seeing Davy Jones and Barbossa do more than just Captain their ships was also awesome. Overall I thought it was good as long as you don't try to really over analyze the film.

I thought that was a pretty nice scene. It's not often you see a marriage during a fight scene on a boat during a ferocious storm. Plus Barbossa being the priest was just awesome.

I'm not all to fond of Will though (Could also be the fact Orlando doesn't appeal to me much as an actor.)

I know what you mean. I loved that Barbossa was the priest and he was kinda like "you may... you may...." I woulda been like "fucking KISS THAT BITCH!"

haha. Yeah, fun times. I loved the part too where Jack and Barbossa were fighting over who was captain... "Well this is my map (or something like that)"

Jack "That doesn't mean anything, that just makes you... MAP boy!" .. haha fucking YES! And then whats his face was all interrupting. MUAHAHA. Awesomeness.

Tbh I'm not bothered how famous actors/actresses choose to spend their personal life. If they want to smoke, drink, do drugs, sleep around etc then as far as i'm concerned that's up to them. If they are genuinely talented at what they do, I'll still watch them regardless.

I think Keira Knightley is a tad overrated as an actress, but still thought her performance in the second movie was pretty good.

WARNING! HERE BE SPOILERS!

I had many problems with this movie. In the second film, Davy Jones was built up to be scary and have a back story where as in this one he was just the evil companies pet squid who fought with them. The scenes in the middle where it shows everyone making different deals and then more deals with other people was just confusing and had my mind wandering - It seemed that they weren't really relevant and just made an excuse to get the characters into their positions for the big finale. My main problem was that they had the voodoo lady in Pirates 2 and explained that she's just a mysterious voodoo magician who can do magic and stuff - not once did they mention in Dead Man's Chest that she was a god in human form, there was no hints in any context when there should have been or else it just seems like it was added at the last minute, not really a suprise twist but more of a 'Well we've messed with ghosts and giant squids - hell why not?'. That basically says to me that the writers had no real way to have the Pirates defeat the English armada - so they pulled a Deus Ex Machina out of thier asses, turned one of the minor characters into a huge god like essence and said 'Right, now we can win.'

The scenes with Jack and Barbossa were mostly fantastic, especially when Barbossa weds Will and Elizabeth during the massive ship fight scene - probably one of my favourite parts of the movie. Another brilliant scene was the opening, it was scary yet captivating with the executions and the singing prisoners going to thier deaths. The scenes with Chow Yun Fat just bored me, especially when he was coming onto Keira for no real reason other than his own piratey horniness.

I knew from the moment that the voodoo woman said 'The Flying Dutchman always needs a captain' whilst looking at Will that he was going to die and become the new captain - the hint was just like 'THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN' slapping me in the face repeatedly. Another annoying thing is the fact that Elizabeth and Barbossa don't seem to get confrontational at all with each other especially after the events of the first movie. I actually liked this movie, believe it or not, because the spectacular scenes with Jack, Barbossa, Elizabeth and the Black Pearl crew made up for the ones that were just boring and uninteresting, like with the evil English company leader - there were only a few scenes with him in I actually liked.

I like how they brought back the two soldiers from the first movie because they were missing from Dead Man's Chest, and then turned them into Pirates. That was just hilarious. The scenes where it showed more than one Jack were also fantastic. There were moments in this movie as well where I was thinking 'Been there, done that.' over and over - Although I'm glad it showed the degradation of Elizabeth's and Will's relationship due to thier involvement in Piracy, another original element that I respect. The scene when the Pearl is sailing through the sea of souls was perfect as they managed to portray the emotion of Governor Swann's death without even showing him die.

Overall, At World's End is a good movie if you're willing to spend three hours of cinema viewing (like Lord of the Rings) watching Pirates being funny, the English being generally evil, massive warships fire cannonballs and monkeys at each other, and a few bad scenes that you have to get through to see the great ones. It's worth seeing, but unlike the first and second - I'm not sure if I could watch this one over and over. Perhaps certain scenes but not the whole thing.

Your opinions are fine but these I've singled out are a little strange to me.

1) ANYTHING they could've possibly put in the middle of the film would've only been there to set up the end of the movie. That's how stories progress. Beginning, middle, end. They have to reach the end somehow. I don't understand your complaint that the middle bits only served to get to the end bits at all. I mean, how else is it supposed to work?

2)How is horniness not an acceptable cause of coming on to someone?

3)Obviously by the time this film starts they've been working along side each other for some amount of time, and for the most part they are working towards a common goal, so it's perfectly acceptable for them to be getting along.

*jumps* It was wonderful, imo. To me it was like the best ending they could achieve, and whatever it is, I still have lots of faith in Pirates. (Okay, you can tell.) AND AND AND AND I WANT MORE JOHNNY DEPP! D:

But it was good enough for me. Any one else thought about the foreshadowing in the 1st movie where Jack said something to Will along the lines of "You're a pirate, all right." and what happened in the end of the 3rd movie?

All in all, watching AWE was a perfectly wonderful way to spend my weekend :)

Hmmm well okay, when I wrote it I had been up for like 28 hours or something so maybe I was unfair and over-critical, but I'll try to balance it out.

1) lol Yeah maybe I miswrote it, what I was mean to say was that the whole idea of everyone making different deals with everyone else was just confusing to me. I'd been to see the other Pirates movies and only this one seemed to have a plot that had too much stuff in it. Fair enough if it was trying to explain everything, but it seemed that they were trying to cram it all into this one. Yes, it is the final movie or atleast I think it is - for now, so yeah they are expected to give us all the answers. But the Calypso thing just seemed to be put into this one out of no where (a twist as my Potc die hard friend said) without it even being hinted at in the other two, and if it was I didn't see it.

2) Good point. Ignore what I said about that. :-X Chances are I was just jealous because Chow Yun Fat got a chance to come onto her...But why did he call her 'Calypso'?

3) That's true, but it did seem to me like they had just forgotten about the events of the first movie as if it had never happened. As if Barbossa had never tried to kill Elizabeth and Will on the Pearl. But this movie in question had a load of scenes between Jack and Barbossa which were brilliant, mirroring their relationship in the first movie.

Hey mappa, I just wanted to point out something I noticed today. Dead Man's chest came on Starz earlier and I watched it again for the umteenth time and actually, they did hint to the whole relationship thing, if only in an extremely subtle way. For about 3 or 4 seconds, when they first meet Tia Dalma and Jack is walking around stealing stuff, he comes across the heart lullaby locket thing in her hut. Then they show Jones with the locket in his organ room when Will steals the key. Just wanted to point out what I saw. I didn't think there was any hint either, just like you, until I saw it again today. Sometimes re-watching does help. :D

When Sao Feng asks Barbossa what could the possibly do to overcome the huge dilemma at hand, Barbossa mentions Calypso, and I think Sao Feng just assumes he means Elizabeth, as she was standing right there. After watching it the second time it seems Barbossa picks up on this and just lets him believe it.

Finally got to watch this today. Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I really liked the first movie, and liked the second well enough - but this one is most definitely my favourite out of the three as loved how the plot was put together and how Keira Knightley's, Johhny Depps and Orlando Blooms characters continued to develop throughout the story. Also thought that the humour and action scenes were very well done - as in the previous movies.

Only thing that disappointed me slightly was that I felt the background story to Davy Jones could have been fleshed out a little more, before things happened with the character how they did.

Still overall I give the movie a 9/10. Definitely a must see for anyone who is a fan of the first two films.

I was a little iffy on whether or not it was worth losing a good three hours of sleep to watch it (went to a 10:00 showing) up until the last hour. And then I fell in love with it. ^^ Good end for the series.

Pros: Anything with Tia Dalma and Davy Jones, the last half hour or so, Jack (the monkey),
Cons: Unanswered questions, some of Jack's hallucinations (those just got cracky, at best, after a while)

And yes, the spin-off possibility was fairly obvious. In fact, I'm pretty sure that they hit us over the head with it. -_-

Oh, and it makes more sense the second time around.
