So, Who in FFShrine watches X-Play on G4?, one of the funniest video game reviewing shows EVER :)

I watch it, when I catch it on. Adam Sessler is right up there as a diety to me, with Mr. T

I'm dead serious. I had a Adam avatar for about 3 days before Pokemon Shriner started. Expect him to make a return at some point.

Sessler in '08!

I laughed when they did the God of War skits, but haven't really enjoyed it other than that.

I hardly watch it now, I don't know, maybe it's just me, but the G4 format changed.

One thing that's always bothered me, is the fact that they're very biased toward Xbox. I'm not an Xbox hater, it's just that whenever they review other systems, they're like ooh, wow, that's cool.
But when it's Xbox, they're OOOH! WOW!! THAT'S FREAKIN COOL!!!

Tech TV was cool!

X-Play isn't too bad. I prefer to just read magazines though.
Their play on Saw III was good though, I laughed until I almost peed. xD

It's on a channel called TVIQ on ASTRO over here.

Problem is, the only time I have access to ASTRO is when I'm at my grandparents'.

So, I do watch it, but only when I'm at my grandparents' place and it's on.

The show isn't all that bad, but it's not all that great. I usually like their sketches, I actually remember their Resident Evil-based one where Adam couldn't pick up some cookies or something. The reviews seem decent, but they don't influence my buying that much.

It's a pretty good show. One of the best was the one with Johhny's Extreme Adventure.

Adam. That dude's X-PLay legend since the very start; I thought they were trying to get rid of him for a while. What's with Morgan web; I've a nickname for her: Skeletor. Without the right make up you could see through her nose when they filmed in sunlight; early problems though... Now that they've gotten a wider audience G4 can afford to film her outside (Hurray for Professional Make-Up Artists!!).

Speaking of early times, X-Play used to be the shtz when G4 was just Tech TV. Anybody remember the Screensavers, with the old dudes? That show was HARDCORE! Its all fcked now; It slowly mutated into that creature called Attack of the Show... That's ultra cold how they got rid of those dudes... Yeah, X-Play is dead; they killed the rotting G4/Tech TV(R.I.P.) zombie with that tard ass musical. Can anybody say gay?

Oh yeah, and wtf is up with the fcking stupid Man Show? Wtf happened to their Anime Block? Read or Die? And that raunchy yet ecclectic anime about two bumpkin kids, alternate dimensions, a cat, a sexy grandma... Magical Shopping Arcade or some sht. Yeah, X-Play and G4 are dead to me.

Morgan looks okay when she has her hair up. Like when she was smashing the last-gen consoles. Okay, okay, I have a thing for short-haired girls who smash things.

I wonder where I got that compound fetish from? (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qyXFN4ocN_o)

::agrees totally:: they even took G4's good shows off like Filter or Cinematech (though it does make a comeback at crack-early dawn). now they have that crap Man Show reruns and Star Trek:TNG reruns all the friggin time...bleah...

R.I.P. TechTV, you will be missed sorely.

Ahh YEA Filter was the greatest; with those two dudes, Tommy Tolorico or something and that guy with the square head. That show and Cinematech were awesome; now that you mention it, though, I HAVE been watching G4 lately on DVR; I rather enjoy the Star Trek TNG reruns. :notgood: At least they're not showing Enterprise, eh?

::laughs:: yeah, I became a Mizota fanboy for about a solid month, until I lost cable. when I finally got it back a few months later, she had left me to go somewhere else and G4 lost my attention when Screensavers died soon after. As for the Star Trek thing...they should have at least some of the different series...Voyager, DS9, something...

My Tv was always tuned to tech tv. Now I only watch that channel when Attack of the Show and Ninja Warrior are on. On occassion Ill watch Xplay.

It's kinda like Cartoon Network the way G4 is ending up. They try something new and all of a sudden they get rid of the shows that started it all...

Save Adult Swim and a few reruns of Dexter's Lab every once in a while, there's no longer anything good on. Then again, it's a kids tv network... :: ponders::

Actually, Dexter's Lab has been airing on Boomerang along with some other fairly recent shows. PPG and Samurai Jack aren't in Boomerang's current line-up.

I miss Filter and... that one show that I can't remember what it was called. XD oh, and Cinematech. D: but I did watch Cheat! and Attack of the Show, too. ...anyway, about X-Play. XD I think the reviews are pretty funneh most of the time, and I like when they review games I like or am interested in.

BUMP!

See what I mean, I'm watching Attack of the Show right now.
During the Loop, they talked about the Xbox's Red ring of Death with a reviewer and a game journalist, It turns out that Microsoft is hush hush about saying it's an overheating problem.

Anyways!

When ever one of them would talk bad about it, Kevin talked over them and switched it to the other, or began going on about the sales to counter their point of the new - long hour play - games coming out for the holidays.

Let me add - G4 has a hard on for the Xbox! :notgood:

Sorry for for the bump, but after watching it, I thought of this topic! :p

I watch X-Play whenever I can, and I do find their rating system a more accurate way to rate games; it's somewhat vague, but it's quite accurate nonetheless. However, I think they nitpick problems with the games they review sometimes, and those problems tend to be exaggerated a tad when all things about said game are considered. Aside from that, I love the show overall.

Vastalis
08-17-2007, 09:05 PM
I find it accurate to, but like I stated in a previous post, If it's a good PS3 or Wii game, they say it's great, but when it's a good Xbox game, they put so much enthusiasm, they make it seem like the best game ever.

I forgot which show, but I think they made an all-PS3 show to "prove" to critics that they weren't biased.

they gave 5 out of 5 to Resident Evil 4 and Final Fantasy XII

I like X-Play, mainly because they don't love generic FPS games as much as everyone else. Other than that, they're graphics whores that base a lot of reviews on how pretty the game is. It's funny sometimes, but we're watching X-Play for the reviews and in-game action. And Morgan Webb.

JUST to get back on topic, I still enjoy X-Play. For me as long as I'm going to watch a review of a game, I may as well enjoy myself. Sure there are times their being biased, but ya gotta pay your bills... But they still give their honest reviews even for a game they pushed earlier... Anyone remember a game called "Lair"...

X-Play is one of those shows that keeps me re-subscribing to cable. I only wish they would come out with episodes on DVD.

Any remember the Review of "Rayman 54": "Screw your clavax, and HELLOOO Splokum!!"

This why I still watch X-play. Sure there are other media that review games "seriously", but X-Play, I relate to these guys because they know that this is NOT something to be taken seriously. They're GAMES kids, stop swimming too deep. If you were lost int he fantasy back in N64, you really don't need anymore GREAT GRAPHICS to suck you in... LOL...

Anyway, that's my piece and my time... See ya soon SMACKY!!!

For surviving more station revamping than Comic Book Transition to a Movie... X-Play gets a 5... out of 5!
