I actually did a search just to see if someone actually had the soundtrack, because I have the RARE groove CD. IT was given with the demo. But I'm really looking for the OST like you. Any luck?

Well, it IS XIII-music, at least some kind of special remix soundtrack or whatever... although it definitely doesn't sound like music from the game.

I've been looking around for a while now, but I can't find anything...
There doesn't seem to be a rip in existence which really sucks.
I'd really like to have the BGM from mission "Total Red" where you uncover Number II's identity!
Just played the mission today and the music kicks ass!

I can FTP into my Xbox with the XIII game disc in and see if I can get the raw audio files from the disc.

Ubisoft uses either .ogg or .raw PCM on their discs.

EDIT: all the audio files are .hsx and .hxx files... I can't extract the audio unfortunately :(

Try this ubisoft tool. its still in beta but has extracted quite a few ubisoft game formats.

That's the one I used... it's also the one I used to grab the Splinter Cell music and Dialogue.

Jauder Naub, Game Extractor (Full Version), MFAudio and MultiEX don't work either :(

Unless the PS2 and PC versions use a different container to the Xbox version... anyone?

OrangeC

Try the PC or PS2 version, PS2 uses ADPCM so it should be easy with MFaudio, but you have to extract the segments by hand.

The pc version should work mostly.

Mobius1

I'll give them a go

Remember that ubisoft mostly uses voxware as there compression, they soemtimes use ogg mixed with voxware, so with a simple extractor you won't get all tracks. its a streamed format indeed. but i bet the beta toolt hat is ent you can work with XIII atleast PC version.

protium21, any luck with the PS2 or PC versions? I was planning on grabbing a used copy of the PS2 game, just to see if I could get anything off the disc using MFAudio.

I couldn't get anything from the Xbox version. As for the PC version, I haven't tried that one yet.

Please do, that's what I was talking about. From what I've read in this thread, ripping the music is nearly impossible, so the mixes by Future Primitive Squad are the only way.

I'm working on it right now. Pulled out 3000+ sound files. Freaking close to 5 hours of speech and bgm. I've actually found the bgm, but the tracks are ridiculously long(1st track is 10:17 mins, under 44100hz though). Some tracks have stage sfx(like wind blowing or machinery. I actually think it's part of the song though.), and dialogue(which makes them sound like chipmunks because of the wrong channel settings for voices).

Great news :)

If you can, keep the audio in its raw form instead of compressing to mp3.

ILL ViLLaiN

I usually make mp3 for space saving purposes, so if anything I'll make an extra copy in wav.

I'm gonna check on some youtube videos to see if I have the correct hz for them.

To compress the wav files you can use FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/).

I'm also working on a rip of the soundtrack (splitting the longer tracks into shorter ones and recombining them if possible... the actual game mixes the pieces of music dynamically).

If/when I finish it, I'll post it here.

So let me ask you. How did you extract the music out? Did you try the HSC/HSX files that were in the BGM folder, or did you just run a scan on the DATA file that was in that same folder like I did.

A program called DecUbiSndGui was somewhat recently released that is capable of extracting sound from Ubisoft-developed games. I used that. You should be able to find it easily. If not, I can provide a copy.

Getting the audio is only half the problem. Mixing the pieces of that audio into something listenable is something else.
