heh, instead of just being another silent leecher of ffshire i wanted to provide to those people some fresh stuff in exchange :)

Shade are not as awesome as The Black Mages, but in my opinion some of their covers are heavier and simply better than Nobuo Uematsu and his band's renditions. Therefore, it's highly recommended to check before the new Black Mages cd comes out this year.

No problem! I am just a big fan of the Black Mages, love their music!

The best ones from those albums (IMO) are:
Clash on the Big Bridge
Maybe I'm A Lion
The Skies Above
Those Who Fight Further

All in all, they are all great in their own way!

Thanks so much for sharing.

You haven't played FF6? Take it from me. It's a classic. Brilliant characters. Brilliant story. Brilliant villain and the best music from the series. Dancing Mad is a classic. The reason why it's so long is that it's the final boss music. The final boss is actually split into four parts hence why there are 4 movements to it (if you've played Final Fantasy 8 you'll know what I mean) except that the music is interspersed better with the battles in FF6.

This album alone is worth it for "Dancing Mad". Sadly the other tracks don't really hold my attention as much so as such I think Black Mages probably is slightly better though the second Black Mages CD isn't half as good as the first. I'm so glad it's the first CD they performed live.

Not a bad album, worth the download just for Dancing Mad (which is one of my favorite vg songs), but I hate it how a lot of the doujin artists seem to like the bad mixture of rock and synths.

Better doujin artists who did FF stuff are preludio, Grandiosi, Serenade and Crow's Claw, check 'm out. :P

This is totally badass! Way better than Black Mages, but I guess it's a matter of opinion to your musical taste. Since I'm into heavy metal, I like this more, but I guess if you're into lighter rock, you'd like Black Mages.

It reminds me of Power Metal...without the horrid vocals.

So I see "Final Fantasy Heavy Metal Arrange Album" and I get excited, thinking "FINALLY, something to wash out the awful taste of the Black Mages albums."

What a disappointment. The arrangements of the songs aren't bad at all but what's the point in even making metal arrangements of them when you're not even using live instruments? There's no actual guitars or drums or anything; it sounds like I'm listening to the songs on a Neo Geo. Completely ruins what could've been a very awesome album.

Better than both Black Mages albums, at least, but not by much.

It's probably because the track titles are in Japanese kanji, and your system might not support it. You can try enabling Japanese language support on your system, and that might help. (If you go to your control panel, regional settings, and enable the Japanese languages, then reboot your computer, it might help).

06-29-2007, 05:39 AM
What the fuck? You say this is metal? This is just heavy synth. You guys are all fucking fools. You think just because it has a synth guitar it is metal? Please.

That is the same as saying the Iraba OST is metal cause it has a synth guitar in it and a couple of bongo drums. Wooptie-fucking-day.

Search metal on wiki and listen to the bands mentioned and then tell me if this is metal.

To whoever's having that problem opening/extracting and enabling Japanese regional support doesn't work. You might want to consider extracting those files to a folder rather than trying to play them from the compression. The reason you might be getting that error is because in order to play the file your decompression client unzips them to a temporary folder which doesn't do a very good job at holding on to larger files. Better explanation: The computer is trying to put a brick into a teacup and drink it. (I prefer to explain why things might not work in order to help people in the future).

And as for the album, it wasn't too bad. I only have a problem with the fact I could get almost the same sound from Guitar Pro (if you haven't heard of it, you might want to search for it).

Come on guys.... Do you really think The Black Mages are THAT great ?? ^_^

Anyway, thanks for the sharing, I'll try it out.

Hellion sounds remixes aren't -bad-, but I prefer my music heavy. These and helion are more focused on synths...
Same with the Black Mages really, but their Dancing Mad arrangement is sweet. <3

Crow's Claw is brilliant, but also look for the two albums by Serenade (Shifting Horizon and Nostalgic Memories) and Preludio (For All Your FF Lovers), all three albums are high quality stuff.

I didn't like this album too much unfortunately, lots of samples/tracks were too loud and oddly mixed/mastered. I think some spending some more time on fixing the volume problems would make the songs a lot better.

The FF4 song was really nice though.
