I can definitely say I didn't like most of the redesigns. Then again, the original costumes the characters wore in X weren't particularly good either.

In my personal opinion, Yuna's character in X was fantastic. Young, beautiful and compassionate towards others and about what she had to do in defeating Sin.

But in X-2, it's like she suddenly reached puberty at a very late age and just wanted to wear make up and look a wealthy hooker (Paris Hilton type). This said, she didn't look too bad but in alot of her 'dress spheres' she had the sexual magnitude of a horny potato.

I definitely like Yuna's new look, but I cringe whenever she has that "Gullwings" moment where she acts like Rikku. Definitely was a way better character in FFX, but she still held her own in FFX-2.

I've also noticed that in the FMVs within FF-X2, the expressions on the characters' faces seemed to be inferior in comparison to FFX.

That also contributes more retardedness to these annoying characters, especially Yuna.

There's more, but I just gave you highlights. I do agree that she has lost her spine in X-2. But if you're not really preparing to go on adventures in 2 years, then you obviously lose some of your braver edges (if you catch my drift). I always viewed that some of Yuna's 'spineless moments' as acceptable changes because she hasn't been doing any adventuring for 2 years (or so we're told in FFX: International + Last Mission). It's the fact that you don't really get sense that she has her courage back that sometimes bothers me.

Other than that, Yuna's "Rikku-Qualities" didn't work whatsoever. Characters like Selphie or Rikku, should be the only character that you come across in the game. If I found one more Selphie-like character at times, Rinoa was pushing it...) in FFVIII, I'm sure that I would have been severely annoyed.

That's what kind of pissed me off about Yuna. I thought that she would be more thoughtful (not nice, but put a lot of thought to things). I thought that she would be more serious about sphere hunting because she thought she saw Tidus......But I am continually disappointed when I catch Yuna bouncing around the screen acting like an immature schoolgirl. How am I suppose to believe that this is the same Yuna that brought Spira the Eternal Calm?

About her look (which is more on topic)......It's allright. Everybody changes their appearances in two years (whether it be a new hairstyle, new clothes, natural influences, etc). I thought that Yuna's costume was allright except for her shorts. A High Summoner wearing Booty-Cuts (is that what they're called?) does not convince me of anything except she wants to expose herself for fun. Her costume (particularly her shorts) could have been done more tastefully to suit the High Summoner status. Like making her shorts a bit longer so that we don't get the impression of 'slut'. Don't get me started on Rikku....

If anything I thought that the Yunapalooza concert suited Yuna because she wanted to bring everyone togethor so that Spira can set aside their differences. As a summoner in X, Yuna wanted to marry Seymour for that very similar cause. I don't view the pop star thing as anything but maybe a major change in clothes.

Besides, if Leblanc didn't pose as Yuna, do you really think that she would do a concert for no good reason but to entertain Spira?

When I first saw the commercials for FFX2, I felt the girl power. She'd earned the right to just run off on adventure, dress silly, and sing for the sheer joy of it.

Maybe it was more than a right. Maybe she really needed to, just to keep from dying inside.

First time I suspected something was wrong was when I saw the Matrix moves. Yuna leaping around, barely dressed in slow mo while the camera felt her up made me feel like I was being targeted as a demographic, I could almost feel the middle aged man next to me, asking me if I thought she was hot.

Worse was to come.

It wasn't that they wore revealing costumes, it was that almost every costume was either revealing or something parents would inflict on their 3 year old daughter because it's "cute". Put the two together with an echhi cameraman, and I had the feeling I was surrounded by horny men in a strip club.

The charming young woman, screwed up sometimes, but always trying to do the right thing, was nowhere to be found.

All that remained was someone else's idea of a fantasy girl giggling as she played dress up for strangers' eyes...

That's how I see her too, rather than spineless. I really liked Yuna in X but X-2 was just a disastor all round. In X, Yuna knew that becoming a summoner that she would not live to old age. She was reserved and had excepted her fate. However, when she denied to chose one of her friends to be an aeon. After defeating Sin, she didn't really know what to do with her life, because being a summoner means that you would die at the end of your journey. She's 19 in X-2 and she realized that she had a full life ahead of her and decided to show her bubbly, sweet, cheerful personality. We know that when Spira was in danger she did become like she was in X. Responsible and mature taking matters into her own hands.

I love her personality and attitude, almost like me!^^ I'm really bubbly, sweet, and very cheerful.

Her hoodie is kind of cute, it helps balance her out. Her smile and thoughts she makes to herself throughout the game still gives her the good girl feel. She's just got a little tougher, sphere hunting and what not.

Of course, I preferred mostly everything in FFX over X-2. This gave me a Charlie's Angels vibe and the only thing I really enjoyed was some of the remarks that you get from the characters, and the Chocobo Stable.

It gave me a boner vibe. Usually I don't care about Blitzball. Sphere break was okay. I never could beat Shinra and get that damn Lady Luck sphere though.

yup I do But don't take my word cause I didn't read a bit of this stuff(except the character design thing I know that) but I played the game a lot cause I wanted tidus back that bad. I think that I just found the game pretty simple (In terms of concept not game play) especially compared to it's predecessor but lenne and shuyin kind of made it better for me. You are right. Yuna comes before Lenne. Actually, for some reason, Lenne's appearance somewhat resembles the seiyuu, but then again.. I probably remembered it wrong since I haven't played the game in awhile, yet I did finish FFX-2 before even playing FFX or rather to say, I never finished playing FFX before I beat FFX-2.

She was in Cabin By The Lake, where this author kidnaps her and locks her in a secret room of his house, and plans to drown her, to get ideas for his book. Pretty cool movie, says I. She's been in other movies too, but I can't think o' them at the moment.

Yeah I loved Yunas new look :D. I also appreciated her old look too. Though she has matured from being such a door mat, I don't think it's changed all that much as you can see near the end of the game ;). She's just had a better balance of it is all.

In short, same girl, new attitude is my short and simple way of describing X-2 Yuna.
No complaints, no whines.
I guess I could say X-2 is a hot girl team who kicks ass I don't mind seeing, unlike the 2 Charlie's Angels movies which sucked, except for the late Bernie Mac.

Anywho, back on topic, X-2 Yuna was cool.

At first, I thought she was pretty. But now that everyone's making a huge deal out of it, I'm liking it less and less.
I think the real issue should be Rikku and her wardrobe. The girl's wearing a bikini top, a huge belt then a much smaller belt to make that bigger belt look like a skirt. That insanely long scarf is probably the only thing keeping her warm. Not to mention she's not even legal.

Well, I much prefer her outfit in X-2 because the way she looked in X was just a little boring. As for her personality, I found her incredibly annoying in X, and while I think she was better in X-2, she's still too much of a goody-goody. I enjoy the way Rikku acts, but when Yuna does it, it just seems way too out of character for her and like she's trying too hard to be like Rikku.

She got a little feisty when Tidus went awol - no bad thing, she was dull as paint in FFX. Always happens when you give a gal a gun. LOL

Yuna's personality shifted and flactuated with no discern as to a rational reason for it. Yet, she did appear to be charming and compassionate, she had her goals and went out in search for them to fulfill them. So, her personality wasn't lacking any decency or morals, sometimes when we experience a life changing event or a tragic accident we change a little, who wouldn't? Some just have alternative ways of changing while others change in a similiar way. I thought it was more proper for her to remain a bit more cheerful and not uptight. It shows she has a strong will, thus making her an appropriate heroine...I have no comment on her looks. I don't think about that, though she seemed more fitting in the summoner garments.

She was hot this time around, so yeah...

Putting aside the fan-service Square obviously put in X-2...

I like both designs. Simply because each design complemented Yuna's personality in the two games. In X she was seen as a proper lady that followed the rules. Hence the longer and traditional looking clothing.
In X-2, Yuna experimented with her wild side. Borrowing fashion from Tidus (Hair, etc). Not just that...but if Yuna is suppose to be an adventurer wouldn't her clothes from X be...clumsy? All that jumping around, lol.

Problem is, lol...no matter how "rebellious" Yuna tries...she still has that sweet and compassionate side.

Lets see.....

I really liked Yuna's costume in FFX. A perfect mix of yukata, kimono, and modern woman dress styles. I have to admit the doc Martin boots threw me off a bit until i realized that slippers just won't do when you're trekking across a continent. I also liked Rikku's costume in FFX. It seemed to fit her punk-tech, cheerful personality. I have several female cousins who remind me of Rikku and they are a joy to be around.

Now in FFX-2 I did like Yuna's dress style somewhat, not as much as FFX but i also came to realize that it fit the new dimensions of the character. The shorts kinda irked me because as a woman i would never walk around in shorts that small. I find it to be unbecoming and kinda slutty IMHO. I thought Yuna's personality was spot on though. Think sheltered catholic school who just started classes at a party college.

Now Rikku in FFX-2 got to be annoying. They changed her into some kind of flat-chested ditz. The bikini top and scarf made no fashion sense in any way. Also i could only barely stand Paine. Gothy, butch, almost emotionless females are a bore. Her clothes were plain and boring. I have no idea why Japan seems to like creating such women when none exist.

And that's my opinion.

The lacing modeled between her shirt with the little logo is a really nice design, and I like her side dress thing, like how Lightning has in XII-2.

Although all three girls' costumes are kind of revealing, they're still well designed.

I didn't like Yuna that much in FFX2(though I did like her blasting Nooj's plan to defeat Vegnagun/Shuyin at the end). Her long braid thing made her look like she was some kind of mutant who grew a tail out of her head.

I don't mind her new clothing, it's nice, but they seemed to make her face look entirely different, especially in FMV scenes. She didn't look like she's aged, she looked like an entirely different character. As for her personality...no. I really didn't like her in X-2, it was like they took away everything I loved about her from X.

I like her outfit but I really prefer her old one. I like the modest and peaceful look of her old attire. I know she's going through a huge change though and trying to be more expressive (like Rikku) but I still prefer her old style. Furthermore I don't understand why people call her outfit distasteful or slutty. They live in a world where people wear this kind of clothing daily and Yuna at heart is loyal, faithful, and not one to present her body in a distasteful manner. Love her in any outfit really, just prefer some to others. :P

When the game originally came out I was like wtf happened to Yuna?
But I got over it and enjoyed the game for the battle system.

I played X-2 first (the joys of only being able to find certain games at the time) so I didn't realise that there had been that big a difference between the Yuna that I was playing and the previous Yuna. That said, I quite liked her look in both games

The whole idea of a "sweet" Final Fantasy failed. The new outfit completely contradicts Yuna as a reserved and romantic character from Final Fantasy X, and I do not think making her an easy-going person - all of a sudden - is really character development

For character development though is that there needed to be a change in her attire because of the events of X. Because what she once was, she isn't that anymore.

And she gets possessed by Lenne frequently...and the dresspheres themselves pass their emotions onto whoever's using them, so basically you get possessed period every time you use one. All that stupid crap about Yuna being 'stronger' in X-2 is as much of a joke as the game is. In X she had the strength to defy Lulu and Wakka in becoming a summoner, and then defied Yevon to defeat Sin. That's gone in X-2. She's lost after Sin is defeated and Tidus disappears and just latches on to whatever comes her way. I understand why she is different in X-2, but I don't have to like it and I don't and I never will.

Very intresting thoughts there. I should replay ffx again, as it's really been a long time. What puts me of is Tidus always whingeing. A bit like Squall, in ffvii.

And the only two times I really remember him really getting upset throughout the game are when Auron tells him about Sin/Jecht and when he finds out what will happen to Yuna if she completes her pilgrimage. I must apologise, to you. I read your post, and realised, I was totally wrong. Not only had I got the wrong character, but the wrong game! It was Squall in ffviii, who often moaned, about the older generation.

I guess, but we're not off the rails that much...I remember a thread somewhere that went on for like 20 pages, and for two or three pages at least, some of the posters were actually arguing...about whether or not they were arguing. I can't even remember what the original topic for that was, or where it was, but the whole thing was ridiculous.

So back to the original topic, in case anyone couldn't figure it out yet, no, I don't like Yuna's new look, the outfit though didn't bother me as much as the ankle-length tail she suddenly developed out of her head...that stupid thing annoyed the crap outta me. Some say she styled her main hairstyle after Tidus, but I look at it and I just think of Genesis, who also annoyed the crap outta me because the Loveless poem was actually quite interesting, but after hearing him recite it for the zillionth time, I became loveless towards him and the poem...I don't mind one-trick ponies when they're actually ponies, but Genesis was just an @$$.

Yeah. She's awesome in FFX-2.
Actually, I played X-2 before X. That's why I prefer X-2 version Yuna. Moreover, I love X-2's OP theme. Her dance was awesome!
