what's the best renewable sauce of money? going through buttloads of pokeballs on legendaries is making me broke.

speaking of which, catchin' questions

do all status ailments work equally well for helping to catch them?

does remaining hp affect the catching rate in a linear fashion? is a pokemon with 5% of its hp twice as likely to be caught as one with 10%?

do dusk balls work better at night when you're in a cave? I know being in a cave helps, but does cave + night help even more? how do the catch rates of dusk balls under the right conditions compare to ultra balls?

I don't think I can help you out with the "renewable source of money" problem, but I do know that the majority of status ailments in the game all have the same effect when catching Pokemon. However, combining multiple status effects should help too.

As for the HP catching rate, you're pretty much on the money.

Regarding the Dusk Ball, I find the Dusk Ball to be more useful than the Ultra Ball under the right conditions such as the one you mentioned above.

I'm not exactly a Pokemon expert, but that's my take on the topic. =)

Unfortunately the best source of money is beating the elite 4 over and over again. The alternative is training a team of six pokemon with the "pick up" ability and running in circles collecting items to sell. E4 works way better imo, although if you're going to get serious about breeding you're going to want to train pick up Pokemon anyway.

I'm not nearly close to the E4 yet, but for money I've been going next to the pokemon mansion that's south of that one city, and there's two old people who each have a level 19 pokemon (chatot and roselia). With an Amulet Coin, you get like 18000 pokedollars from the two of them, and then you just keep using hte VS seeker.

There's probably a better place to do something like that, though, but it's the only one I've noticed so far!

Yeah, I know in the ADV games there were these crazy wealthy people you could find over and over with the amulet coin. There may well be something like this in D/P but I don't know about it. I guess hit up gamefaqs.

Sarah it is by the mansion south of Hearthome city apparently.
The VS Seeker is some thing you're given by rowan's assistant at some point pretty early in the game. It's in your key items section of the bag. It makes trianers near you challenge you again, but it doesn't always work.

The amulet coin is in Amnity Square or whatever it's called which is the north part of Hearthome city. You have to have a cute pokemon with you to go there though (like psyduck or pikachu and a bunch of others).

ADV is the short term for advanced, referring to the generation that is ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire red, and leaf green.

I'm pretty sure dusk balls are 4x if you're in a cave, or at night, or both, but 4x is definitley the cap.

EDIT: lol beated by wattson =(

"adv" is 3rd generation pokemon games. ruby/sapphire/emerald. sorry, I use it without thinking now. it's usually used in reference to competition from that gen rather than the actual games themselves

I believe he means the pokemon mansion where you can go out in the garden and catch Pokemon from past gens.

I forget where the amulet coin is, wait for someone who remembers or look it up on gamefaqs

vs seeker is an item you get that lets you rechallenge NPC trainers

I believe dusk ball does gain an extra advantage from both a cave and nighttime, but I could be wrong. I think Garamond believes so too and he tends to sniff out details like that much better than I do so I'd trust it.

I'm pretty sure Dusk Ball is just 4x in a cave or at night. Otherwise it's 1x.

I can attach one of my cloned Amulet Coins to a Pokemon if you need it

I bet you would clone copies of Diamond and Pearl if you could. Heck, I bet you can.

There's only a glitchy may mess up your save file trick for duping, and it isn't 100%. It's like you need super timing.

I wouldn't dare risk it just for something I could duplicate in Emerald.

I never had a money problem. I used the amulet coin a lot.
At one point before i went to the Elite Four I had a little over 400,000.
Now I'm at like 200,000
Because I've bought like 100+ Ultra Balls for Azelf and Uxie.

Wow, why so many ultra balls? I caught the legendaries in ruby with like regular pokeballs since I was low on cash - and yes, I used very few.
Are you using the "masterball" trick with L + R + A? If you time it correctly, pressing them simultaneously exactly when the ball pops open to capture, your chances of capture on the first couple of tries increases dramatically. It still works in these DS versions.

If not, my psychic powers are modding the game. >_>

Go undergorund, dig up the items, and sell what you don't want or need.

Lol, best way? Train over and over using VS Seeker with the two people just outside the Mansion south of Hearthome City, who with Amulet Coin will give you about 16000 EACH per battle (well that's after E4, don't know how much before, but still a lot I'm guessing). I trained at them for an hour or two, maybe more, and I got to 999,999 money.

My experience.... Just use dusk ball when your in the cave. When it's dark and your in a cave doesn't really matter. When it's dark and your trying to catch a wild like Mespirt then yeah, wait til dark. Then just use Dusk balls like crazy. Easy money? Raise strong pokemon, give your lead pokemon (The one your gonna actually use) luck insence or amluet coin and it will double your money. SO battle like crazy and you get money. Easy as pie
