i think it was because the final fantasy series are no longer a true Squaresoft game.. to me they seem to have more of a dragon quest theme to them.. don't get me wrong the dragon quest series is great but i liked it when final fantasy had more of a darker side in their storyline. now they are starting to be more of a gay romance novel..

They've been doing that before the merger.

Yeah, hello VIII anyone? Besides since they merged they've made XI and XII, two that I absolutely adore. Sure, they made X-2, but I dislike that due to gameplay preferences, not overall quality.

FFX-2 was made and released in Japan before the merge. It just has the Square-Enix logo at the beginning because the companies had merged by the time it reached the US.

On topic, the development teams for Square and Enix are yet to collaborate on any Final Fantasy projects and for the most part the two halves of the company stay separate. Any similarities to Dragon Quest beyond the odd reference (I think Gilgamesh uses a sword from Dragon Quest III in FFXII. That's all I can think of) are purely coincidental.

I love Romance and they had that in almost all the older FF anway so its not the merges fault

Enix was superior to Square in just about every way. Star Ocean 2: The Second Story still remains one of my favorite games of all time. As for the merger, I'll say that the games are not bad. I still wish that Enix was making its own independent games.

I loved some of the early FF's, and X was amazing. Kingdom Hearts 1 was square, right? But I've never really played any Enix games until they merged. Hey, the games they make now are still good, so I'm not bothered about the merge.
