I'm actually surprised someone here knows something about this, so let me explain for those who don't.

beatmania IIDX (came out in the US as beatmania, think DDR with buttons and sound samples) 9th style - Gold(14th Style) runs on a Windows XP based system. It's totally possible (with some twisting and shifting of files around) to play beatmania IIDX on your own computer.

Now you may be asking why the hell would you want to download the HDD dump to play this thing when you can just buy/download the thing for the PS2 (with the appropriate mod that is). I don't know about it performance wise but given the fact that you have nearly 250+ songs at your disposal (as opposed to like 50 in the Home editions), it really all depends on how much you like IIDX and if you're willing to try to run it.

Maybe I'll mess around with this later. But, thanks for the links.

I only have the US version of the game and Happy Sky. I like it enough to play it, but not to the point where I'll download 11 gigs for just more songs. That's pretty much all the free space I have on my computer right now (I have alot of shit on this thing).

extrac the crack then go to folder call 'JACC' then run a file call iidxdevice16.exe after u run that,the box come up and on the bottom left u c 4 blank space,jus tick the last one and set ur directory to "bm2dx_kp.exe"

hmm... I'm pretty sure i extraxted properly. I didnt replace anything when extracting. and all i find is idxdevice15_ahn, instead of idxdevice16... I dont know... Im thinking of just giving up maybe T_T

Yay i got it to work! I just extracted the "beatmaniaIIDX13 DistorteD HDDdata" which took very long... then extracted the files from "beatmaniaIIDX13 DistorteD JACC", and booted the iidxdevice16, and started bm2dx_kp.exe. It works, but for the music, there are no bg vids showing T_T w.e.

Edit: actually only SOME of the bg video shows. So most of the time it's just black

I DLed the torrent for Happy Sky, but sadly, its only for the PS2 and PSX emulator is wayy to slow for that...dont have a swap disk for the PS2...T.T

With some fiddling around, I was able to get into the game, but now i have another problem, right after i select my difficulty setting the game always crashes back into windows, does anyone know anything about this? Please help me I haven't slept for 2 days!

Right this is the last post I promise, I'm going crazy here... Expert mode and Challenge mode work fine, if i select any other game mode (normal freeplay etc) it crashes back to windows, can any of you people who are smarter than me think of what is stopping it from loading past these certain menus? I've updated all my drivers etc, so i'm thinking that the file structure is wrong or something... please please offer some advice here, I can't start seeding the file for other people until I get the bastard working, thank you!

Yea...I am also having the same technical problem as crowndann above... when i open the idxdevice16 and set directory to "bm2dx_kp.exe" and push STRT, the screen would go black for a moment, then crash back into windows and try to send an error report... what is going on, and what was extracted in the incorrect place? How is this fixed?

And no, this wont run on Vista Ultimate, for anyone who is about to try it... an Active X Runtime Error 429, or something like that comes up.

No, the crack is the same for both ISOhunt and Demonoid. I tried both, and they didnt work. I think the problem might be due to graphics hardware problems... or maybe we are just unlucky...

and either way, if you dont have an account for demonoid, you cant download their files... this is because they check your upload ratio and shut down your account if you dont seed long enough

However, if you do manage to figure out what is wrong and manage to get this orking, please post how u did it...i am having the same problems that you are.

Ok so this is what i went through. I downloaded the torrent from isohunt. I unpacked it and copied the file from the JACC.rar . I worked untill i played any mode but one of them then it would crash. I tried everything and nothing worked. I then downloaded the torrent from demonoid and .r03 was the only one that didn't check out. So i let if finish downloading and did the whole proccess again and everything works perfectly. Hope this helps

Yes. Finally Got this thing to work! Make sure u extract the crack to the right location (just copy the stuff in the crack directly into the FDD folder found in the HDD data folder...it'll ask you to replace some files...im sure anyone who does this stuff knows this.) If it doesnt work then, as in the screen goes black for a moment, then windows tries to send an error report, its probably your videocard or graphics (or possibly your OS) not upto operating standards...and you're out of luck then. Use a different computer like i did. I did manage to boot the bm2dx_kp.exe using the iidxdevice16, but that gave me a Card error simialar to the picture posted by AznPunk07, and failed to boot. However, using the iidxdevice16 to boot up bm2dx_iidxshiki_pe.exe, it still gave me the error, plus a network error, but miraculously booted up, and the game ran perfectly.

I got it to work fine. Just having trouble with the speed. the game seems to be sped up very fast when i play a song and its off beat. any help?

Guide to installing: 1.Unrar the HDDdata files (select all data files and extract to the folder of your choice)

2. Unrar the JACC rar (NOT the [式神 Crack], i still don't know why the compiler added it. its not needed) Make sure to overwrite the files when you unrar the JACC.rar (I actually went into the folder it was in and manually inserted the files, for safety)

3. Copy D3DWindower and insert it into the BM folder (You dont need it in any specific folder but i put it there so i knew it was for BM) It is to enable windowed mode, which for me solved the crashing at the main screen.

4. Once this is all done, make sure your monitors refresh rate is set to 59.94 /fs so the note chart isnt off beat.I DLed powerstrip and set my verticle refresh rate to 59.94 but im not sure if horizontal has anything to do with the offbeat.

5. Open up the JACC folder, and than open up iidxdevice16.exe and check the box before the 13th(JAC) and than make sure the box is empty, and drag and drop your bm2dx_kp.exe into that box so that it opens BM using iidxdevice16.exe

6. ENJOY!

I've configured everything required and have install all required codecs. However no matter what I do I get a windows error report when iidxdevice15.exe trys to open bm2dx_kp.exe.

I saw there was a JAC.zip posted higher up on this thread, perhaps to fix this same problem. The link is now broken. I'm on Windows XP SP2 with all my directX, codecs and driver up-to-date. Any help or ideas?

The readme it came with said it should have had a video file that was normally missing, but it didn't come with it from what I see. Do you think it was maybe the opening video?

Hey Kusariku, have you installed the codec for the video? Two possibilities could be happening that I know of:

If you've got ffdshow, it could be taking over and causing problems with windowing vs. fullscreen. If this is the case, you can fix it by doing the following:

1. Open ffdshow video decoder configuration and set MPEG2 to libavcodec under Codecs.
2. Click to Output (on the sidebar) and make sure "Set pixel output ratio in output media type" is ticked.



If you DON'T have ffdshow, make sure you have installed the codec "clvsd.ax". It's in your konami folder in the rip.

1. Go to Start, then Run and type "regsvr32 C:\IIDX15\konami\CLVSD.AX" (Or whatever the path is) without the quotes. It should say something about DllRegisterServer succeeded.

I hope this helps. Also, if you've got an ATi card, use "bm2dx_hard_tnl.exe", or "bm2dx_soft_tnl.exe" for Intel chips. nVidia can use either; I suggest hard.


If you've got the time could you please, pleeease rapidshare me the op.4 file in your HDD/data/movies directory? I'm getting desperate here! (Plus if I find the file is corrupted and MY copy doesn't load, then we both know there's something wrong with your movie file.)

EDIT: I forgot to mention! If you're running Vista you have to make sure the game's exe files are set to Windows XP compatibility. IIDX was designed for XPe. Make sure to hit the enter key whenever a movie that you don't have is supposed to be on screen as well to skip the hidden error message.

If you've got access to a soldering iron and know basic circuits you should totally build a parallel port adaptor with a usb tab for power! They're almost lag-free and really easy to get working with the PSXPAD driver (All you have to do is install it and then config.exe will pick up the inputs).

I guess the next question I should ask is: Do you have an op.4 file in HDD/data/movie? Maybe the 7gb release missed it out entirely, but I was sure it had the movies unique to DJ TROOPERS... Let me know, thanks.
Also, if you haven't already, it might pay to install the clvsd.ax codec again if no movies at all are playing. Uninstalling ffdshow may have also removed that codec.

It's probably not codec related either. Are you getting a black screen with sound or is the opening just not showing up at all (IE it's going straight to the DJ TROOPERS title screen)?

Hmm... if the other movies are playing then I can't see what the problem would be, unless it's just not seeing the op.4 file at all. Try opening it in media player and bypass the "caution weird file extension" error. If that works, then I really have no idea what it could be. I had alot of trouble with ffdshow and windowing, but either all the movies worked, or none of them did.

Windows. The HDD rip won't work on any other operating system as far as I know. I'm not sure if it actually plays other videos or if it plays parts of videos based on like, the frame that comes up when you miss a note for example. ._.;

You mean all the still frame and interface style stuff? That's bizarre.
Unless you're running an x64 OS (XP or Vista, IIDX lacks video in those) or your video codecs are playing up, I don't know what could be wrong.
If you've got some HDD space, you could chop off a partition for IIDX and it's very own XP install for dual boot. I've got a fresh copy of XP for running IIDX, and there's almost nothing on it. No updates, no internet... just drivers, SP2 and that one video codec (Oh, and FRAPS). Boot-to-game in 20 seconds. Works a treat.

I've got a JKOC with a whole bunch of mods done to it (TT, sensitive and sticky key stuff), but I hear the US controllers are a bit sturdier (or the buttons are at least). I was thinking of getting a DJ Dao FP7 once the controller I've got here dies off.

Hope you get TROOPERS sorted out. It's a shame to miss some of the eye candy, but at the end of the day I guess the only people looking at the movies are the ones not playing.

Okay, apparently videos are working fine, because several songs actually have working videos. I took note of this while playing the Military Splash songs and a few random songs. However, a good deal of the DJ TROOPERS songs don't seem to have videos. I'd assume that there's just no video files for them in the 7GB version, which kinda sucks because I dunno how to use usenet... >_<;

Many of the DJ Troopers songs use videos from older mixes. This might be your problem.



Usenet is pretty simple but most of the time (If you want fast download rates) you need to pay for Usenet traffic. I use a client called GrabIt (http://www.shemes.com/index.php?p=download) and go to http://usenet-news.net and buy a block of data (It's pretty cheap, $8 for 20gb).

All you have to do is set up the usenet-news server in GrabIt, and then run the nzb file (In my old post) with it. It will pick up all the necessary rars needed for download and start queueing them up.

Be careful though. Most usenet servers will drop files after 70-100 days. I think the files in question are about 20 days old.

The readme file talks about a 0119.4 file that I could not find... Is it the problem? Who can post a link for this file?

Did what ceasama sugested and singed up for usenet and starting DL the 25gb version. Took a little more than a day and it was the best 10 bucks I ever spent. All the videos and no problems. Hope u guys have the same luck.

I think making a torrent for the gold "movies" directory would be better... It could be less then 20gb...

Technical problem: I noticed that HS and Troopers have more "white" than usual on my pc... For example almost the entire screen becomes white when I select a game mode (standard, free etc)... Or when I pick a song the movie box should show the song name, author and genre... But on my pc is totally white until the movie starts... Does anybody have an explaination for this IIDX strange behaviour? T.T

I got IIDX Distorted and im having problems mainly with my keyboard, i have a logitech g15. the game starts perfectly fine but after a minute or so the game wont pickup my key presses any longer. :(

Haven't heard of this problem, but have you plugged in something like a joystick and checked if the inputs stay steady the whole way through on that? It might be that your keyboard drivers are interfering with IIDX.
It's also possible that something is taking focus away from the game. Make sure there aren't any random error messages popping up in the background. Once the game looses focus, I don't think it's possible to gain it again normally.


djess88: Are you running Vista? If not, double check you are using the right exe for your video card and make sure the video codecs are installed correctly.

800x600, 16-bit?? I'm pretty sure IIDX is supposed to run in 640x480, 32-bit (or 16-bit, not sure) @ 60hz. Maybe your card can't go that low? Why not try it on another machine? It should run on practically anything with a GeForce 4 or better in it.

The turntable keys are supposed to direct that menu. You have to hold them down momentarily before they'll react though. It might pay to check through the game mode test menu and see if anything odd is set up (I think the default key is F1). If all else fails, set the machine to Event Mode (5 stages) in the test menu. It will bypass the mode select entirely and send you into Free.

Ive been playing with joy2key combined with wifi controller 0.4.3 for psp im not able to use my psp as a wireless controller in the game.

Works perfectly except the turntable seems alittle stiff going, i mapped up and down to X axis on the analog nub.

The game scrolls very slow, any way to speed it up, the effector seems to only want to give me echo 1 lol

Hey iris, make sure you've run timebase.exe (Click calibrate and then apply it to your sd_data directory) in the cracked folder and then run bm2dx_hard_tnl.exe or bm2dx_soft_tnl.exe in the cracked folder.
It won't work if you run it from gamestart.bat or boot.exe in the HDD folder.

You can also get HDD DATA errors if timebase.exe doesn't finish modifying all the beat files, so make sure it finishes successfully before quitting.

That's odd, it sounds like a codec issue. Can you see the opening video? If you can't, you need to follow the readme.txt instructions for setting up ffdshow or installing the codec provided with DJ TROOPERS.
If it's still a problem I'd suggest uninstalling ffdshow and exclusively installing the included codec by going into Run and typing:

regsvr32 <pathname>\clvsd.ax

<pathname> being the path to your konami directory in the pack.


If it's still a problem, maybe you need to update DirectX?

I have the full 25gb version, but I know the 7gb version simply gives an error warning before any song without a BGA. Usually you can simply hit enter and the game will continue, provided the error message doesn't cause IIDX to minimize. I don't know of any other problems with the smaller version, sorry. :(

If you mean how do you get modes other than event free mode, simply hit your test menu key, browse to game options (or game settings, I can't remember) and change the Event Mode switch to "NO".

The mode menu will pop up next play.

Sorry man, the file is practically impossible to come by on it's own, usenet is the only place I know of outside of the stripped-down torrent since it's alot of data to seed, but Grab-It is no more problematic than a standard bittorrent client, so you shouldn't be worried about junking up your machine. It'll also uninstall cleanly.

Sorry I don't really know any other way.

Under the Sky's video should be 1214.4 and HORIZON's should be 1138.4. You should be able to check by opening those files with almost any media player, because they are formatted like mpeg files.

I got it to work fine. Just having trouble with the speed. the game seems to be sped up very fast when i play a song and its off beat. any help?

Guide to installing: 1.Unrar the HDDdata files (select all data files and extract to the folder of your choice)

2. Unrar the JACC rar (NOT the [式神 Crack], i still don't know why the compiler added it. its not needed) Make sure to overwrite the files when you unrar the JACC.rar (I actually went into the folder it was in and manually inserted the files, for safety)

3. Copy D3DWindower and insert it into the BM folder (You dont need it in any specific folder but i put it there so i knew it was for BM) It is to enable windowed mode, which for me solved the crashing at the main screen.

4. Once this is all done, make sure your monitors refresh rate is set to 59.94 /fs so the note chart isnt off beat.I DLed powerstrip and set my verticle refresh rate to 59.94 but im not sure if horizontal has anything to do with the offbeat.

5. Open up the JACC folder, and than open up iidxdevice16.exe and check the box before the 13th(JAC) and than make sure the box is empty, and drag and drop your bm2dx_kp.exe into that box so that it opens BM using iidxdevice16.exe

6. ENJOY!

Two things I know cause this problem are:

1. Powerstrip isn't doing it's job and setting your refresh rate to 59.94. There isn't much you can do about this. DJ TROOPERS has a new way of modding the game files instead of your refresh rate, however.
2. You have a dual core machine. Occaisionally IIDX won't work well with a dual core, but forcing the program to a single core may fix the problem.

Alternatively, the program might actually be going too slow, which can make the song is out-pace the chart instead. In this case, run FRAPS and check if your framerate is staying at 59-60fps. If it's below that, you've got problems.

1. ~20gb of the DJ TROOPERS files are movies. Most likely Konami have been using the same basic video compression codec since 7th-8th style, which is less than optimal, but the BemaniPC isn't necessarily designed for high-performance video codecs.
2. Since the engine is designed to work with this specific codec and the movie file format is relatively obscure, there isn't much in the way of resizing the files unless someone wants to spend time analyzing konami's movie container.
3. Konami can do whatever they want with the game. It was never designed to be distributed on PC and if it was it would likely be much, much smaller (in both size AND song list).

So i've given up and I should suggest the rest of you do so too just to save some time. U'd be better off installing xp sp2 on a separate/partitioned drive and then playing it through that.

Anyway enough rambling, I have both distorted hdd and dj troopers hdd.. so basically i have movie files from all the mixes except gold.. so if anyone wants vid files and u know the .4 file number then i'm willing to upload it onto rapidshare/megaupload.. i'll try to check back as often as possible. remember i don't have any gold files.. so yeah..

Isn't there a limit on how much you can upload to rs? The main constraint for me right now is that I have practically no bandwidth available to upload data. I'm sure there are a few others on here with the full rip that have considerably more capable internet connections... I'm just the messenger :(

yes, i have DirectX 9.

ok so i just realized that I didn't put the cracked folder inside the HDD folder so I now moved it into that folder.

I tried booting again and now instead of a error message showing, it shows Initialize Game, goes to 5 periods then exits out of the program. Still doesn't let me get into the operation menu using the test button

From my experience of trying this on a quite old XP computer, it does the exact same thing. It worked on Vista, except it was playing slow, but the sound was at normal speed, which made songs like Regret quite difficult. That, though, is probably because it doesn't have an actual video card, just onboard graphics,

You need to go and get a program called Joy2Key. Wait, are you trying to use a beatmania controller or keyboard?

Joy 2 key works with the usb contollers. For the keyboard you need a Key Remapper

Ummm...how are these games ripped off of the HDD? Like the actually process? This could come in handy with my Pop'n 15 Adventure HDD....if anyone could help me, I would gladly torrent the thing.

how do i fix the "HDD DATA ERROR (MD)"? i have vista and i'm running it as an administrator and in windoes xp (sp2) compatability mode. I've put that vamp folder where it needs to be and i installed the codecs. What am i missing here?

but if in this case you even cannot access these configuration...

hey guys, uh im having some problems with my djt d/l.. i got the codec working, i moved everything to the ride folders, i get no errors, but when i click on the exe file to start it up, it just opens a small black square in the top left corner of my screen.. and it doesnt do anything. this happens with both hard and soft exe's.

im running vista, and i have already set the exe files to be compatable with xp sp2. i dunno what else i can do, so if anyone has suggestions, or knows what can fix it, pleeeeeeeeease help. im desprate to play this

I was downloading this with my laptop, and my laptop was having problems since there isn't any simplified Chinese character font files to read them; only thing I saw was scribbly characters and question marks. I finished downloading Pop'N 15 awhile ago, but thanks for your help though.

are you running the DJTroopers version?
if yes, you must be forget to install the vamp.rar data...
install it under C:\IIDX15\HDD\data\graph\sys
PS: if you don't install it on C:\ just change the C:\ to your corresponding drive letter

it works now, apparently im dumb, and i put the vamp folder in the graph folder, and not the graph/sys folder.


edit: it works now, i had to rename the movie folder to something else.

It doesn't seem to work. There aren't any seeders. The only way for you to actually begin downloading these torrents is if you log-in. Doesn't matter if you're banned; since you're only banned from viewing the content and not seeding and leeching.

Hi everyone. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to find this awesome website when reading about the Happy Sky HDD version and was amazed when I found out that Pop n' Music was also out there for HDDs. I installed namipan and began to follow the method provided by Zero//2.K

Soon all the files were finished except for part04.rar. That file is no longer on namipan unfortunately. May anyone know of an alturnative site or server that has that file? Thank you in advance for any help anyone may be able to offer!

Hi!, I'm having a problem with the Happy Sky HDD, I've unzziped al the files just like the readme.doc says and the iidxdevice15.exe run perfectly but when I tried to boot It crashed and send a windows message report, it strange 'cause I have the DJ Troopers HDD and it works fine, anyone can help me plz?

make sure your Clock setting and HDD Setting was correctly setted...

After a lot of work, I finally have DistorteD working perfectly, but there's one small problem:

My US KOC, which is hooked up through a PS2>USB adapter, works all the time with joy2key except for when DistorteD is open. My keyboard works fine, but the KOC doesn't respond during the game. Any suggestions? D:

Edit: Fixed my own problem. ;D
I'm running Vista, and the problem was that I didn't run -everything- in admin mode, which included joy2key, whereas I ran iidxdevice and bm2dx_kp in admin mode, so it's more of an all-or-nothing thing when it comes to that.

I just finished downloading the DJ Troopers HDD and it works up until the point where you select your mode, then it just blacks out and that's it.

I have FFDShow and did all the settings and whatnot.
Any help on this?

I know that to resolve this error you need to set up the clock but the problem is that I can't reach the system menu via F9.

I'm just wonderning if someone could upload to me his original crack JACC directory of HappySky and probably with some system files (It should not be so "heavy" in space).

It's really strange, it's the first time I have this error and all my other beatmania hacks (DD, GOLD and Troopers) work fine...

I really need this beatmania HappySky to record good quality videos because I'm working on a LunaticRave skin theme. So does someone could help me,please? I would be very grateful :).
