The date for the next Indy movie is set for a 2008 release and will start shooting this June. Two cast have been named: Shia LaBeouf(who might play Indy's sidekick) and Cate Blanchett. As it turns out, Cate wasn't Lucas's choice, but rather someone that director Steven Spielberg, insisted on bringing aboard the movie. "That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director. I approved it because she seemed like a good idea." Also, expect thrills and suspense from Indiana Jones IV, but don't expect Harrison Ford to be jumping off too many buildings or escaping on foot from villains with machine guns in his age. Lucas explained "Indy's not running in any of the movies. He's either on a horse or driving a car or a motorcycle. And he'll play his age in this movie with what's appropriate. The chases are more suspenseful than speedy. Like the rolling ball in the first film it's not that he's running that fast, it's that there's a giant ball coming at him. Suspense, not speed. And he will get beat up, which is a tradition for us."

Question is... can Harrison Ford, now in his 60s, still be able to handle the role of Indiana Jones?

You sir are a big jerk face.

If this actually finally happens I will be pretty excited. I was really into Indiana Jones as a kid and still am. I don't think Ford will have much of a problem physically with the role. I am kind of worried that it could suck though. George Lucas has gone crazy. Hopefully I am wrong.

I'm sure it can still be a great film, and I have no doubts about Harrison, screw age, I respect when people don't let that keep them down.

Why is Shia LaBeouf cropping up everywhere now?

Age didn't stop Sean Connery in The Rock (badass film) and I doubt it'll stop Harrison Ford in this one.

In the hands of Steven Spielberg, i doubt it would be sucky. Lucas + Spielberg = winner ;)

I have to agree with Hogan here. Spielberg films of recent years haven't been up to the standard of what he was producing during the 70's, 80's and early 90's. As for George Lucas, well, we all know about that.

I have mixed feelings for another Indy film. My love for the franchise wants there to be another one. Yet, this same love is dreading that the perfection of the original trilogy will be tarnished by two men who have evidently passed their prime.

i really wish they werent making this but since they are:

i agree that lucas is insane. hopefully everything will be fine though. seems like an awesome cast, anyway. shia is a very good actor and will fall somewhere between being the next tom hanks and dustin hoffman.

YEAH, And Stallone was the next Brando. Let's just look before we leap. (and I like Sly, but his career choices just didn't lead him down that path)

That said, I do like Shia just fine, just saying, the career might not amount to what you've predicted.

ANYWAY

WHO GETS TOTALLY PUMPED WHEN THAT CRAZY JOHN WILLIAMS SCORE PLAYS?!?!?!

Even despite the fact that he's in one of my alltime favorite movies (Constantine), I honestly cannot stand Shia and I'm sick of seeing his face around so much these days. If his career had died with Battle of Shaker Heights, I would have been happy.

Your mileage may vary.

So what? It's like the Thunderbirds movie?. Like, I'm guessing we don't see much action from our main hero but more of the young cocky and "hip" sidekick.

That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director.

Bullshit to this too. What about the script Frank Darabont wrote over two years that Spielberg absolutely adored?. That no-chined chump Lucas refused it.

Still, I'm sure it'll be good.
