What do you think about how they assigned each characters to specific jobs as they did in previous of Final Fantasy games? I mean, it worked brilliantly in the early games, so, how well do you think it worked in this game?

Personally, I think they did an okay job assigning each character to one specific job. I don't like how they chose to make both Garnet and Eiko White Mages, they could've made one of them a Summoner exclusively.

Anyt thoughts?

It worked well, yes. You had to choose your party with strategy and not just by who looked coolest like in the previous two games.

Garnet is a summoner, Eiko is the white mage. It works in that Garnet has more summons than Eiko, and Eiko has better white magic than Garnet. *shrugs*

I think it worked well and actually prefer each character having specific traits and skills that will never cross over between others.

But, Eiko shouldn't be using Eidolons at all, and that would make her a White Mage. >O

I agree, but I think it's amazing how many people still refrain from using Quina simply because they have no clue just how powerful her Blue Magic can be.

I think Eiko and Garnet's differences were "ok" the only character I really don't like is Quina. Ya I know frog drop is good, but I still don't like her. White wind sucks compared to other heals, and she is a versatile character, but is not very strong in any one thing (unless u max frog drop).

It was decent, but Garnet's White Magic should've matched Eiko's

Why? Then you'd have two characters that are basically the same battle-wise, which wasn't what they were aiming for.

And I remember finding Eiko's Eidolons better than Garnet's, if not simply because of animation time or the fact that I forget and rarely used them.

Still, the system seemed pretty good. Much better than the stupid GFs.

I thought it was an interesting move. It was good that each character had his or her own role in the game. What I really liked about it however was the fact that you can only learn new abilities through the equipment you wore (and had to master them to keep using them if you wanted to de equip an item). It meant you had to actually progress through the game to get additonal spells and abilities (unlike FFVII/VIII where if you levelled up enough you could have ubber magic early).

As for Eiko and Garnet having similar roles, it didn't bother me. I used Garnet as my White Mage.Summoner on the basis I didn't like Eiko. The only thing Garnet missed in the white magic department of importance was Holy. It was neglegable however as I never used Garnet for damage dealing anyway.

The jobs in ff ix worked really well. It was a great way to make each character unique, unlike ff 7,8 and 12. Also, the point that both Garnet and Eiko can sammon eidolons is connected to the story throughpout the game :)

If you cover the basics of FF jobs, then its all good. You have the Thief, Knight(or the half Magic Knight) , Cleric(s)/Summoner(s), Wizard, Lancer, Blue Mage, and Monk/Ninja. I believe they did a good job with Amarant as far as his skills, even though Chakra is considered the almost unstoppable skill.
