I know there are quite a few of you who've seen some or all of Twin Peaks. It's weird, creepy, campy, and pretty much wonderful, and it is a great show to talk about with people.

I hope now all of us will be able to have awesome discussions about it, because we are having an FFShrine Twin Peaks watch event!

I've already downloaded it to check, and it is good. It has subtitles, but they're not hard. Just delete the .txt file for the episode you want to watch and it should be subtitle free. http://www.mininova.org/get/397364 is a torrent for season two, but I haven't checked it yet.

Finally, Season Two is coming out. I haven't seen the first series in a long time so I'll give it another viewing.
As far as I remember, there was a cliffhanger at the end of the first series.

Well, i guess i'll jump right into this.

SPOILER-PILOT EPISODE

I guess the first major thing to strike me about Twin Peaks was the music. When Pete gets his fishing gear together and leaves the house there is a great sense of unease. Then, this leads to the body of Laura Palmer, the entire basis for the show. From this point i had myself wondering "who killed Laura Palmer". That question alone was enough to keep me hooked. One thing that really got me about this episode was when Leland gets told about his daughter. Fresh off doing a successful business presentation the sense of sheer grief Leland conveys was heart breaking for me. His only daughter is dead, murdered, and the killer it seems is still out there. Anyone else really effected by this scene too?.

Then, after the entire town has been notified of the death of the prom queen in enters Dale Cooper. Instantly likable in a quirky way from the outset he is played excellently by Kyle MacLachlan. From the point in which Cooper finds the piece of paper under Laura's fingernail the chase as it where finally picks up. The murderer turns into a serial killer, and everyone is a suspect.

What i didn't expect from Twin Peaks was to be shocked so much. I heard it was a quirky series but scary? no sir. At the very end of the episode in which Sarah Palmer is trying to relax after a hectic day she, in almost a dreamlike state, recalls how she cleaned Laura's room a few hours ago. But she remembers something she didn't notice before. Sitting at the foot of the bed is a man, looking back at her. At this point i can honestly say it made me jump and pause the episode until i calmed down. :(

Awesome episode and i'm looking forward to reading some of your thoughts guys.

I really like Twin Peaks but I am not going to watch it as part of this watch-a-thon thing because I don't think I will have the time. However, I think it is hilarious how the first season DVD set does not have the pilot included, it is missing a huge chunk of the story as a result.

Maybe we can split the episodes up and try and get all of them up there. Since season one is so short, we should be able to get that up for people easily.

It gets me even more watching is again how alternately scary and hilarious Twin Peaks can be. I laughed out loud at quite a few parts, and now that I've finished the pilot, I have goosebumps.

SPOILER-PILOT EPISODE

The first time I saw the pilot, it was at a Twin Peaks party. Afterwards, I had to go wait for my bus alone in the dark, and I could not get that scream and that hand out of my mind.

Agent Cooper really was characterized so well just in that first scene. I know David Lynch isn't that proud of Twin Peaks now, but honestly, I was really impressed with how well he gave you an idea of what every character was like so quickly, and how even with everything being so weird, it all seems to fit in the world that Twin Peaks is set in.

Also: I didn't remember this (

) at all, and it is probably one of the most hilarious things I have seen in my life.

Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, and I have only seen season one! Season Two episodes will be available for everyone in this thread, though. :)

I know. ; ; You can buy it on a separate dvd, but I think it's pretty obnoxious. Merl's never seen the pilot, because we didn't realize it wasn't including when we rented the dvds.

I have season 2, but I haven't watched the episodes yet. From what I read on the site I got them, there aren't english subtitles for the backward talking scenes, so maybe if we upload season 2, you can do ones with that and I can do the rest. :)

That'd be grand but there's one problem. In the season 2 finale, yes, all the subs in the black lodge are Spanish. However, it is actually very easy to make what their saying if you pay attention. Well, i thought so at least.

Then sure thing, I'll be glad to upload any episodes when i can. It just takes some time. I'm hoping to have the pilot episode uploaded by tomorrow though. We might as well have two links i suppose. Plus, i believe mine is around 230mb.

I've had some hearty recommendations for Twin Peaks.

I think I will give that pilot a watch some day soon, and then I think the library I work at has the DVD series, so I can just borrow the rest. I will have to check if they have the pilot or what.

I just say the pilot episode. And I must admit I am now hooked, and cannot wait to see what happens next episode. I didn't quite know what to expect from it, but I am glad I watched it.

SPOILER-PILOT EPISODE

The music was fantastic. As Denny had pointed out, it gives great emotion to the scenes.

The characters were well done. I like the sherif, thought he was done well, as well as Agent Cooper, who was different from your usual up tight FBI Agent. The townsfolk, like Lauras friends played their roles well for the most part.

The setting was another point I liked. Even at the very start, where it shows the geograhpical features of Twin Peaks, it gave me a very sleepy small town yet dangerous vibe. The atmosphere for the most part was brilliant.

I liked how they introduced the conflict early. As soon as it starts, there she is dead, already making you wander "Who killed Laura?" As it progresses, a couple more deaths occour, and you find out it could and most probably is linked to the same killer. Already, you begin to suspect people in your mind, wondering if any of the people who are already introduced are the killer(s).

The gripping part for me was at the end, that freakish scream as the other part of the heart necklace was dug up. That freaked me out. After that, I was simpley hooked.

However, Lucy (I think her name was, the sherifs assistant or whatever) annoyed me, especially her voice, haha.

k, so my library has all of Season 1. I got the first DVD and I got hooked and watched the pilot and Episode 1 today.

SPOILERS - SEASON ONE PILOT AND EPISODE ONE

I love how this show can jump back and forth from hilarious to creepy. And there's such a huge variety of odd characters, with just a hint of the supernatural goin' on. Very cool. Agent Cooper is already a favourite of mine, with his crazy intuition, fascination with douglas firs n cherry pie and his tape-recorded notes. The whole sense of mystery, lookin out for clues and wondering who could have killed Laura Palmer is definitely a big part of the appeal. At the moment, it's looking like the jerk trucker husband did it, but I'm sure that's gotta be a red herring.

It's kinda crazy how nearly everyone in the town is having an affair with at least one other person tho.

The part where he said "wait! don't drink that coffee! there was a fish in the percolator!" was awesome. so many quirky bits.

I hope I can find a way to get season 2 when I get up to that. I look forward to finding out who killed Laura and enjoying the show along the way.

(Probably won't have time to watch the rest of the eps for a week or two tho~)

I watched both series now and enjoyed it very much. The second series isn't as great as the first but the few remaining episodes are really messed up to say the least but in a great way. I too loved the last episode and I shan't never forget it. Don't forget to watch Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me after the second series.

Firewalk With Me! One of my favorite movies. I hope that people here get to watch it. The soundtrack is amazing too! I think some people may have an easier time getting into the TV series after watching Firewalk.

Yes, Alpha23, you're right, that's a good idea. Either way, I think that you will enjoy FWWM. Even on it's own, it's a great movie. I hope you like it.
