Just bought two tickets to a Liza Minnelli concert on April 24th. Yay, I haven't been to a concert in years, so I'm pretty excited.

Share your fondest concert memories here!

First concert I attended was Eve 6, lawl. I liked them quite a bit back in 6th grade when I went so it was neat. Totally loud and too many people fucking around though.

I've seen Ben Folds twice (for free) at Summerfest. I missed him last year, as he performed earlier in the 'fest than he usually does, but hopefully can see him this year.

I also got really nice seats to see Stevie Nicks at Summerfest. It was pretty wild, and a good show, but we left a bit early to get better seating (more like, standing) at Ben Folds' stage. Some German guys sat to the left of us, and some drunk guys from my area sat to the right. They wouldnt stop talking, but they were friendly, I guess.

Was supposed to go see Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Mars Volta in concert in Minneapolis/St. Paul, but couldnt' get tickets. Just wanted to go for TMV, though.

Also, if anyone's ever in the area of Chicago/Milwaukee, definitely check out Summerfest. They have some great bands play for free, and only $8 to get in. Even the big name concerts have cheap seats. Its a clean, safe environment, and always a blast.

saw tool 4 times,2 at festivals, and 2 at regular shows.their sound was very good, and their whole stage being a big screen was pretty nice.there setlists were the same though(except for 1 or 2 songs) and there were usually a bunch of dicks around.

nine inch nails was also a good band to see live, extra verses and a few breakdowns really made the show.

i also saw rammstein once in 2004,great show with all the fire.It was also funny to see a bunch of non-german speaking people try to sing the lyrics.

i went to more, but those are the ones i liked most.

I've never been to an upscale concert for more popular groups, more or less shows for 3-4 bands at smaller venues. However, I'd like to hit up Mindless Self Indulgence the next time they're in my area.

We have an awesome little club called the NorVA that is just fantastic for taking in shows. I saw Less Than Jake there a couple years ago and had an absolute blast.

I saw My Chemical Romance open for Green Day at one of our mid-size arenas (I guess that's how you could describe it) and was mere feet away from the stage, in the pit. Quite possibly the greatest concert I've ever been to since I went with the person who introduced me to Green Day in the first place.

Then this past December I saw My Chem again at the NorVA. Just heavenly. Gerard was screaming at the top of his lungs to keep up with the crowd =)

<3 IGGY POP <3

Everything was just brilliant, the performance, the athmosphere, and the crowd =)

I should go check out the new Stooges album :O

#2 and #3 as best concert so far, would be Norma Jean and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ~

lets see, off the top of my head, i can remember;

The Frames, John Cale, Bloc Party, Super Furry Animals, Brakes, the Pixies, and fucking loads of small local bands.

standout out was the Frames by far. Honourable mention to Brakes and Bloc Party as well.

I have been to a fair few concerts by now.

But my highlights would be either of the last two Falls Festivals, particularly The Mountain Goats at second said festival. Also: Darren Hanlon was marvellous and I really want to see him again, The Hives at Big Day Out were crazy awesome aaaaaaaand and seeing The Evens recently was quite special. Seeing my friends' bands perform is also a special kind of fun.

I have seen a fair few good shows, but those are the stand outs that come to mind.

I would like to see Tom Waits and The Weakerthans before I die, but I dunno how good my chances are. I think I will need to get my arse over to the USA at some point to raise the odds.

I went to Download last year and I went to see Iron Maiden in Newcastle in December, pretty much brilliant experiences, biggest shame is this year Download is SHIT, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance!!!!? ugh, GTFO.

Iron Maiden maybe there but the thought that bands like those will be headlining the festival is enough to avoid it.

My first was a metal concert at a veteran's center a couple of months ago. It was only local bands, but it was still great. Considering there couldn't have been more than 50-70 people listening, the mosh pit was surprisingly active.

My first show was Modest Mouse which was kind of neat but it was in a big theater and we were towards the back, I would like to see them at a smaller club if given the chance. I have been to a fair amount festivals which are also fun in their own way(Green Man in Duluth twice, Lollapolooza and Pitchfork in Chicago). Some shows that really stood out I guess would be Sleater-Kinney, P.O.S., The Boy Least Likely Too, Of Montreal, and Dressy Bessy. I don't regret going to any show though I always have a good time. I like really small local shows as well. The smaller the venue the better imo.

My first and only concert was Rob Zombie before the release of The Sinister Urge. Lols. Good show, but I'm really looking forward to seeing other acts sometime soon, especially considering how much my tastes in music have broadened in the past year and a half.

Meeting Dream Theater in 2004. Sitting front row center, getting high fives from the band members during the show, receiving two drumsticks from Mike Portnoy.

I've seen Iron Maiden & Black Sabbath at 2005 Ozzfest, got to meet and get an autograph from Morbid Angel, and pretty much, other great bands I've seen are Machine Head, Exodus, Megadeth, Kreator, Slayer, LoG, Mastodon, Venom, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Behemoth, and Napalm Death. The most recent concert I attended was Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, and Cannibal Corpse. I might be seeing Atheist on April 21st, but I don't know, maybe not.

Lucky, lucky cunt (if you do). That Saturday at the Powerfest looks pretty damn good, with Novembers Doom and Martyr as well.

First concert I've ever attended was Cradle of Filth with Arch Enemy, Bleeding Through and Himsa. I went for Cradle and Arch Enemy... Pretty fun show though.
Then I got to see Stratovarius and Into Eternity. Opeth with Dark Tranquility with Devil Driver. Arch Enemy again with Hate Eternal, God Forbid and Chimaira. Red Hot Chili Peppers with The Mars Volta. Cradle of Filth again with 3 Inches of Blood and 69 Eyes. Lamb of God with Trivium, Machinehead and Gojira. Next month will be Dimmu Borgir be Devil Driver, Unearth and Kataklysm.

I once went to an awesome local death metal concert where the bands played songs from video games. Zelda, Tetris, Mortal Kombat, MegamanX, Perfect Dark and more. It was such a fun show.

What is it with everyone and this angry, bloodthirsty, suicidal noise? And I don't mean to insult. I'm really surious what you like in it...

Well for one, it isn't bloodthirsty and suicidal, quite the opposite really. MCR like to talk about how they save lives, and the fans are quite obliging in making them believe that to be true. I see "MCR saved my life" shirts at shows all the time. The lyrics of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in particular have some pretty graphic imagery, but its all symbolism anyway. It's cathartic, etc., etc.

They are amazingly theatrical, and great guys to boot, from what we've all seen at any rate. There are other threads dedicated to discussing them, but they've gone to pot with others bashing them, which is their right. I'm not about to stop people from expressing opposing opinions.

MCR are about as bloodthirsty as the teletubbies, they are an act.

As much as I know you're insulting them, I completely agree with this sentiment as something MrGumby should be aware of, TC ;)

The first concert that I ever went to was We Will Rock You the Musical back in 2004, I liked it so much that I saw it again. Then in about 2005 I went to see the Queen tribute band "It's a Kinda Magic", they were great!
It wasn't until last year that I got to see Deep Purple for the first time ever in my entire life. They were so awesome (I recorded the concert on my Mp3 player, I still have the songs, lawl) with Status Quo. Then again late last year I went to see G3 with Joe Satriani, John petrucci and Steve Vai. They were pretty awesome too.

i'm not insulting them by any means. they know they're an act. it doesn't impact on the quality of the music at all and if chaps want to listen to them, that's fine.

I've been to some local band concerts, first ever major one was Ozzfest 2004 (yay Dimmu Borgir), and in May I went to see Dimmu Borgir w/ DevilDriver, Unearth, and Kataklysm during the Invaluable Darkness Tour.
