I only got a DC almost a year ago but it's a great console. Genesis is a great console, and had it been in the poll I might have voted for it. Vive la Sonic the Hedgehog, despite how bad the X360 and PS3 incarnations of his new game were. (Please, Sonic Team- fix the camera!)

Where is ps1? If Dreamcast is considered old school, then ps1 should be on the list.

Possibly the oldest Game Boy, but beyond that is PS1/N64 territory. That is hardly old school.

snes forever!!

it's control has yet to be topped! it is the most perfect control design ever invented! not too big. not too small. all the buttons you could ever need. PERFECT!

I vote the NES. The Genesis comes in second, and the GameBoy Color comes in third. The PSOne is in a different timezone.

SNES. It had some good games, and thus why I chose it.

This could have been an awesome thread, but you forgot like a zillion other consoles ;-;.

Well, If I had to choose: SNES

Obviously I loved my NES very much, but It can't compete with the total number of hours I spend with my SNES.

I played SFII Turbo like it was a religion.

Mickrulz

SNES for games like Donkey Kong, Mega Man X and Chrono Trigger.

Zulu
03-19-2007, 04:08 PM
Also, Genesis/Mega Drive pwns all other consoles.

Killa_7
03-19-2007, 05:58 PM
Ok how someone else starts a proper poll, you know one that has other consoles besides nintendo and that turd dreamcast, and does not suck, also not being made by a cunt would be nice.

I suggest having in the poll:

SNES
Amiga
Atari
PS1
Mega drive

include your own if you wish.

When I mentioned PS2, I was referring to how it 'beat' the Dreamcast. Nothing to do with 'old school'.
Sorry if my post caused any confusion.

whats Amiga ?

Killa_7
03-19-2007, 10:31 PM
Amiga is a very very very old computer that plays games on floppy disks there are many classics such as rainbow islands, street fighter and moonstone, they made a console version too, I have both in my possesion and they are very addictive.

jalvarez82

The Sega Saturn. It did 2D like no other. The Neo Geo AES would be my 2nd choice.

I don't consider the Dreamcast to be an "old school" console at all. For one, it came out in 1999; and two, it was the first CD game console to introduce online play. Too bad it didn't last that long in the US. It's a great console. Japan is still having lots of fun with it.

You know... Dreamcast was a pretty good system.. with the ability to play burt games.. and ps1 games... hahaha. that was a fun machine.

03-27-2007, 05:48 PM
Ohh N64 for sure. Actually I really liked all of the Nintendo's. 8D The mario games are just so addicting!
But N64 wins because I got the most playtime on it, because my neighbours had one.

Well Like One Roki Said earlier if the Dreamcast is a Retro Console then so is the PLAYSTATION 1 and if that counts i easily choose that due to

Final Fantasy7,8,9 + 1,2,4,5,6 Rereleases.
Tekken 2 and 3
Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil1,2,3
Crash 1,2,3 AND TEAM RACING!
Ridge Racer Type 4
Hogs Of War
MK Trilogy - Even though its prooly presented
Medieval 1 and 2
Dino Crisis (Still have to play the 2nd one)
Though you get the Picture

Also The Sega Megadrive (Genesis) Beats all on the selected list you've given

I would've voted for SNES, but I voted for the N64 just for Paper Mario. My favorite game EVER

Megadrive is my favourite, but as its not in the list, I have no choice but to hit that "Mexican". :(

Choosing between the Super Nintendo, or the Nintendo 64, is difficult for me. Though, the Super Nintendo wins by a nose, contingent on the fact it was responsible for developing my interests in Video Games, thereby prompting my interest in the Nintendo 64.

Dreamcast was actually a really neat system. Not only did it feature online play, but its components were all upgradeable. The thing that killed it in the US was timing. It came out at the wrong time, and it was honestly too advanced for people to realize its true potential. There wasn't a huge market for online gaming at the time. Also, a huge lawsuit with microsoft over innanet rights or some shit ended up costing sega a buttload of money. this crippled their ability to up the bar on gaming of that time. did you know that they had started producing high speed network adapters for the dreamcast before high speed internet was commonplace and cool? I thought that was neat as hell, lol. I absolutely loved the dreamcast and plan on purchasing one next time I visit game xchange.

As for the poll, I am a huge SNES fan. even though I first played video games on the original NES, the SNES is really the console that got me into gaming hardcore.

Would have said Genises or PSX, but I had to go for SNES. I only own a handful of games for these 4 systems, except the NES.
