So i beat the game, i mean actually beat it and i was a little dissapointed with the ending. on a whole perspective i was disapointed with the game because where was the romance where was the love that makes final fantasy , final fantasy.

Remember that this story is about loyalty, trust, and justice. It's about saving an empire, loyalty for others, and not about a summoner falling in love with her guardian or so. Although the story of love can be found in FFXII too! Just look at Rasler and Ashe. Their story ended in tragedy but it was love for them.

But some random websites suggests that there is some (romantic) connection between Ashe and Basch. If you listen closely to Penelo's voice reading her letter in the ending, it said something about Ashe missing Basch.

And I read in another site that in FFXII: Revenant Wings(sequel) for the Nintendo DS, that Vaan and Penelo's relationship will "develop".

As a guradin to her is how she misses him. If you need romance go play FFVIII or FFX the romance in FFXII is on the backburners. The only romance you really get to see is Balither and Fran and that is it in true romance.

As for the Revenant Wings I have seen at least 4 different trans some that say yes romance between Penelo and Vaan others only that they are sky pirate partners so up to you seeing as we have so little true info for it on how you want it to go.

FFXII didn't need romance. It was good enough. The story made up for the lack of the love in the game.

I thought the ending was not as dramatic as in FFX and not long enough. Sure, we get to see what happened to everyone, but I would have liked to see more, and maybe some dramatic stuff or a marriage, or a love story beginning, or anything. It was good, but just like the rest of the story, it felt a bit empty and predictable.

I enjoyed the sense of closure because that was what the game led to. It really had me pulling for them to each get what they wanted and by the end you accomplish that with every character. A fitting ending in my mind.

Oh, ok...I kinda got the hint from the game that it was a connection between Balthier and Ashe...at least that's what I thought it was...or what I wanted it to be...I guess that swimsuit artwork really does mean something then...but what about the one artwork where Balthier is holding Ashe's side on the motorbike thing...? Hmm...Love triangle...?

Ok one the Swimsuit is Basch not Balither you can tell by the scar. Two Fran and Balither simiple as that it VERY makes that clear at the end. Any and all romances are what the player wants to see since romances take a backburner in this game.

We are not even sure it will do that. We know they are partners in Wings but the exact nature is still clouded. ALOT of people mistranslated the few Scans we have seen and got the idea that they are in a relationship the truth is that Square-enix is being tight lipped about it only time and a Japanese player will we find out the truth. So anything beyond Partnership is Heresay alone.

Plus I am kinda hoping for Penelo/Larsa pairing now that would be cool in the extreme.

I just beat the game yesterday as well after 172 hours of gameplay. I did basically everything else in the game (got Order of Ambrosia, Excalibur, Wyrmhero Blade, Zodiac Escutcheon, all side quests, etc...) before actually flying to Sky Fortress Bahamut and fighting Vayne. Personally I thought the ending was fantastic. The entire last hour of the game was incredible, in my opinion.

A lot of the ff games have a romance of some sort (as do a lot of stories of any kind) but you should'nt really expect one.

Larsa totally has a crush on Penelo.

Balthier and Ashe defenatly liked eachother.

Balither has Fran they make it very clear through out the game espically at the end. Now I think Ashe might have Feelings for Balither that might be true but in that respect I think Vaan and Ashe are more likely.

Why? One nearly all scenes that hold a dear part of Ashe's heart such as Raithwall and Ralister he is a part of or major witness. She uses him as a sounding board often enough such as Giraff village and Giruvegan.

But except for Fran and Balither everything else is just pure Opnion.

One of the main reasons why i love XOO so much is that it didn't focus heavily on a love story like the last 4 games(8,9,X,X-2) It actually felt like the old school ff games like from 1-6, but more detailed. The theme would be more of Politics, and trust, than really anything else.

I'd take one look between Fran and Balthier in the Pharos over anything I saw in the FF series labeled as romance. While I'm certainly a fan of it, it was nice to see a relationship that had already been established. It blows me away, how Fran and Balthier just get each other. I'd even consider Drace and Gabranth's relationship as something akin to romance; the obvious friendship and understanding just brought more to the table than most "romances" do.

I think it is strange that people see Larsa and Penelo as a potential love story. During the whole game, all I saw was a flourishing FRIENDSHIP. Nothing else. But it seems it is hard for some to consider it possible that a guy and a girl can only be FRIENDS.

Well yes true Girls and Guys can be just friends easily enough but the type of speeches he gives, he focous on penelo, as well as goes out of his way for her. Mind you it has been a bit since I have played FFXII so I can't give the best evidence on this. But one of the reasons I like it is the idea of a Younger guy getting an Older girl like that in that Age bracket amuses me plus for some strange reason I don't like Vaan/Penelo and the Other Penelo pairings are crap. Basch?! I mean I don't even think she speaks a WORD to him the whole game. Balither has Already Fran, so why go after Jail-bait Penelo?

I liked the ending. In fact, I liked the song so much I put it on my ipod. Ashe did seem to have more interest in Balthier than Fran might like, but Penelo and Larsa? Isn't Larsa 12? I realize Penelo is young too (16, I think) but a romance with a little kid? Yuck. In my imagination she's Vaan's girl.

That is only 4 years you know and Larsa is very mature to start with but each their own. Though I still say Ashe and Vaan would be killer.

Im being sarcastic. Everybody's trying to pick out little relationships, the only obvious one was Ashe and Ralister (I think that was his name) - I don't like the way the game seemed to fit everyone together at the end when there haven't been sufficient clues throughout, I mean, Basch and Ashe, come on! Ashe and Vaan, yes, Ashe and Balthier, maybe, but not Basch. Fran and Balthier I suppose, but although I thought Penelo liked Vaan, didnt seem to me like he liked anyone.
