Does anyone actually have the Sonic and Knuckles remixes for the Sonic 3 levels when you combine them both? I believe the levels are Ice Cap, Carnival Night, and Launch Base. I have been looking for those for a long time in their original Genesis 16-bit form.

What you are looking for is the "Act-2" versions of the songs, and like Andyuk said, they're in there.

I'm looking for the alternate songs that were used for those levels when you combine S&K and Sonic 3, in sonic 3 they are the original songs for both Act 1 and 2, but when you plas as Sonic 3 and Knuckles the level music changes. They have those songs used in the Sonic and Knuckles collection that is uploaded here, but they're in ugly midi format. They are the same ones used on the Genesis, but in the regular 16-bit format.

No, unfortunately the new tracks for Carnival Night, Ice Cap and Launch Base (and also Knuckles' Sonic 3 theme) never appeared in the Megadrive versions, even with Sonic & Knuckles combined with Sonic 3 you still get the same old Michael Jackson-esque versions of the BGMs

Allow me! When Sonic 2 was being developed, Hidden Palace Zone was part of the stage line-up, unfortunately it wasn't included in the final version of the game, but development did get to the point where they had the finished BGM for the stage.

Hidden Palace Zone can be played in the Sonic 2 Beta ROM, and apparently a broken version of the stage still exists in the final version of the game.
