Hey guys.

Quick question.

I've just started the game and I'm in the Dalmasca Estersands and I'm meant to equip the armlet that the guy gave to me in the SandSea tavern, however everytime that i press the triangle button, nothing happens.

Is this normal? I cannot access the party menu at all.

It's not my controller as the button works on any other game.

Plx Help xx

Hmm are you using cheat codes at all? If you are turn them off.
Also if you are using a Non-standard controller like Pellican or Madcatz it is possible you hit the remap control on it and switched things around.

If you still can't do it restart and check very carefully all your options and when controlling reks try to open the menu. If it continues time to get a replacement Disc sorry. First time I have EVER seen this problem.

Is the menu the only thing you are unable to access? Does everything else work okay?

My bad. Didn't know.

The FAQ is called: Game Mechanics FAQ

Again, see the Appendix.

It should just be an issue of getting another Dual Shock. If your controller has the letter A at the end of the imprint on the back, then this is most likely the problem you are having.

Check the linked FAQ for a complete description. It's in appendix A

Oh, this issue. Yeah, I recall reading about this. That's probably it.

Ahh, yes my official Dualshock2 serial does have an A on the back of it...

I will have to get another controller.

Thanks.

Ow. That's a real bummer. Sorry about that. At least controllers are reasonably cheap. I recently upgraded to wireless one myself --- I love it!

An 'H'
Well Hopefully Come Monday When I Have The Cash I Can Both Buy And More Importantly Play this Game...

Is there Any Particular Reason Why It Wont Work On An 'A' Type Controller Apart From Square Wanting The Game To "Be Played Differently" Which Doesnt really Answer Anything.

What Is The Difference Bewteen A 'A' Type Controllers And Other Controllers? Surely They Cant be Too Dissimilar?

I'm lucky, I have an "A" controller yet I have no problems.

According to the FAQ writer, maltzsan: "So far, every single problematic controller has this "A" on the back. However, many working controllers also have the unlucky "A". In one case, a working controler [sic] with an "A" suddenly gets this problem (Thanks to Adam Smith)"

I know, I read it as well.

What are you trying to do, jinx me? =-O

Yes. That is exactly what I'm trying to do :-P

Edit: GAH! I have an A! No wait, I'll use this as an excuse to go wireless. Any recommendations on brand, Agent?

I am using a Logitech Cordless Action Controller. It's this one here (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Playstation-Cordless-Action-Controller/dp/B0001VNNE8/ref=cm_cr-mr-title/002-5337635-5969621). I have had absolutely no problems with it. It has awesome battery life, plus you can use rechargeable batteries with it. I don't see any solitary letter "A" anywhere on it.

While I don't do wireless I do use an Intec controller it offers ALOT of nice features like Turbo. Makes all of the Races easy as Pie. I got it orignally for Kingdom hearts I killed my old controller by turboing and pressing down the Fire while moving from Planet to planet makes all of the challanges a slight bit easier.

It LOOKS very nice, Agent, but I'm concerned by the problems others have described:

*Vibration is different--I've always been a fan of DualShock feedback; I'm even leery of Sixaxis because of it. It isn't make or break, but it's a factor.

*Sticky X Button--I had this problem the last time I had wireless controllers (for my PSX)

*Left Analog Drift--I have this problem now, with my official Sony controller. I have to spin it a couple times to remedy it, everytime I boot up a game. Though, this may be a symptom of the "Scarlet Letter" now that I think about it.

The vast majority of the reviews are very positive, but most of them even acknowledge these problems, as if they are par for the course with wireless controllers, which they very well may be. I dunno, my experience with wireless is pretty limited.

Yes, this is true. I never used to use vibration myself, but then eventually I did start using. It's definitely different, but I've gotten used to it, and I no longer really care either way. It was never anything that was a major factor for me, though if it is a concern for you, I can say that it is different.

*Sticky X Button--I had this problem the last time I had wireless controllers (for my PSX)
I bought mine as a pre-owned and I did have some minor problems every once in a while with this for a little while, but they seemed to go away on their own. I no longer have any problems with it.

*Left Analog Drift--I have this problem now, with my official Sony controller. I have to spin it a couple times to remedy it, everytime I boot up a game. Though, this may be a symptom of the "Scarlet Letter" now that I think about it.
I had a similar problem with my official controller, I think, which is one of the reasons why I ultimately decided to go for the wireless. Although I'd been wanting one for a while anyway --- the cord on the other was causing a lot of problems.

Anyway, congrats Purrr! Glad to hear everything's all right to continue with the game now.
