So, is this game just an enhanced version of Snake Eater, or what? I'm looking to buy the MSG games, and I wanted to make sure that I'm not getting the same game twice.

Pretty much with a few extra shit. Along with the Metal Gear games that never made it to the states with online play.

its one of the best special editions ever
especially for a global release(as the us and eu rarely get real SE's)
tons of extra's and allota stuff got finetuned and completely improved(camera etc)

Yeah, Subsistence made a few great improvements on MGS3 and the on-line play is pretty fun as well.

Let's put it this way: If you have the original Snake Eater, you should still buy Subsitence, it's more then worth your money.

Subsistence is probably one of the best purchases I've ever made in my entire life. The theater mode is great, so you can watch all of the cutscenes without having to play the game through, and the secret theater was hilarious. Duel mode is fun and can be pretty challenging if you're going for high scores. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 are both fun to play, and the new Snake Vs. Monkey levels are fairly entertaining.

The real reason to buy Subsistence, however, is for Metal Gear Online. Never before have I so thoroughly enjoyed an online game. Sure, MGO is full of glitchers and cheaters, but so is every other online game. After playing MGO, I can barely play CounterStrike because CS just seems so childish. You'll be blown away by the gameplay sweetness of MGO. I sure was.

In closing, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is one of the greatest things to ever happen to life. Ever.
