What does every colour mean? So far, I have this

Black: Attack magic (like vivi)
White: Curative magic, and also things like blind, sleep and silence
Blue: The thing Quistis and Quina does. Is it something with learning skills from enemies?
Red: I don't even have a clue...

So who can elighten me?

i think FF5 had the most kinds fo magery.

Black: Offensive.
White: Curative.
Red: A little of black and white.
Blue: Enemy magic.
Time: Support magic.
Sword: Black and physical.
Summoner: Summons.

there were some really obscure ones that dont really count in other game.

FF6 had the best system. The simplest answer is usually the most realistic.

Black - attack
Gray - effects/anomaly
White - curative

Depends on the game.

FF1:
Blakck-Attack
White-Cure/Effect
Red-Black and White, but not the best spells

FF2: Not sure because I haven't played all the way through it, but I know it has your basic black and white like FF1, might have more.

FF3: Same as FF2.

FF4:
Black-Attack
White-Cure/Effect+1 Attack spell

FF5: Might be more that I'm forgetting...
Black-Attack
White-Cure/Some effects
Time-Having to do with haste and such
Blue-Enemy skills
Summon-Summons

FF6:
Black-Attack
Whtie-Cure
Gray-Effect

FF7:
Only Materia that gave you magic was Green Materia

FF8:
Don't know it all that well, but I don't think they had colors

FF9:
Black-Attack
White-Cure
Summons-Summons

FF10: I have yet to play it...even though I own it...

FFT: Never played it

FFMQ: Same black and white combo as most

Hope that helped...though I wish I could help you out with FF10 and Tactics...
