"You have a choice, but only one. The new Nintendo Wii or the Nintendo DS? Think about it."

Half of me wants to have the Nintendo Wii, because it's new and all that, and I want to swing something instead of the usual controller. But then the other half wants the Nintendo DS because of its awesomeness and the games(MarioKart and Castlevania).

Now I'm torn apart.

Wii.

It's more expensive, so if you wanted to get DS at a later date you won't have to save up as much for it.

Wii. It just reeks of fun. The DS is fun, but I haven't had nearly the same amount of fun on it, even considering that we have nearly five times more games for it than we have for the Wii.

Then get a Wii. At least you'll get to swing something, just don't swing too hard and keep your hands dry so you don't throw it and snap the strap. Be sure to get Zelda as I have heard many wonderful things about it. Also there are many Wii owners here who are connected. I'm pretty sure Wii communication with them should be splendid for you.

Right now? DS all the way.

There are a few good games on the Wii, sure. More are on their way for sure, but right now the DS wins hands down. It would take a loong time to list all the excellent DS titles, and I can guarantee you you won't be unhappy with it.

The Wii has huge potential. If possible, I'd say DS now and Wii next year.

Wii. Make you parents spend as much as possible on you. If you decide you don't like a Wii, you could still trade it in to get a DS (and probably a game or two) at any used gaming store.

i say it depends more on your life style. if you stay home alot go with the Wii. but if your on the go, go DS.

Personally, I'd start out with a DS. You can always pick up the Wii later on when more games become available.

Technically I agree with you. But what works for us may not work for others.

If your parents are offering to get a $250+ console or a $130+ handheld, make them spend as much money as possible, so you can save a lot more money later on. Plus, the Virtual Console is really coming out with several fantastic titles, it seems one has come out each week for the past month or so.

Keep in mind, your parents will be really lucky to find a Wii or a DS, since they are both sold out everywhere I look constantly.

You can probably just check shipment dates for stores. I know the Target in my area gets Wiis/DSes every Tuesday and Friday and such.

I could go get a DS right now.

With the price of a Wii and Zelda you could get a DS Lite and plenty of games which in the long run I think would keep you entertained longer.

Get the Wii becuase of Ninendo NES-N64 d/ls so you get your monies worth. Al Ds has is... DS games.

Well, if you already have a GBA, a Wii would be a good choice, since the GBA would've pretty much covered the portability aspect for you.
