Doesn't it confuse with Ys 4 : Dawn of Ys? Where does this lie?
(Didn't you work on that game as well? I thought you were credited with the translations....)

The original Mask of the Sun(which never came out) was probably made for PC98 I think. The one on SNES, is the closest thing, to being the official cannon of the Ys story arc. Unfortunatly, Dawn of Ys, despite being a MUCH better game(infact, Mask of the Sun is probably my least favorite Ys ever), is not part of Ys cannon. It has many inconsistencies that conflict with the rest of the games unfortunatly. Though, what's interesting, is that Falcom was looking into doing an anime based on Dawn of Ys. I suspect because it was the more popular game, & also had WAY better artwork for all the characters.

The PS2 one, is called Mask of the Sun: A New Theory. And it's a re-envisioning of the original design document for Ys 4. What's interesting, is that there's music in this, that was not in the SNES Mask of the Sun, but WAS in Dawn of Ys! But, for the most part, A New Theory isn't very good. Still, it'd be nice if all 5 Ys for PS2, that haven't been brought over to the states(since Ys 6 was published by Konami over here), would maybe be published over here, in a budget pack or something. But, I think Konami still owns the rights to any US releases of any Ys games. Which stinks, because they still have yet to make Ys Oath in Felghana for PS2 or PSP. And now that Ys Origin is out, I'd like to see it brought over to the PS2 as well, but, it's looking like neither will be produced for the US PS2 market. They'll just remain in japanese on the PC :(

Oh, & as for the translation, I was a part of the Ys 4 dubbing project as Dr. Flair, & was probably going to be the Narrator as well, but, the whole dubbing project fell apart sometime after I finished my lines for Dr. Flair. Someone said there might be a chance of that project being resurected, that'd be nice, but, I don't know how true that is.

I prefer the Turbo Grafx CD version over the others, but, I do like all the different soundtracks for Ys 4.
