It's not possible --- the game was never designed do that. However, if you absolutely need to switch to something else, I think either Alt + Tab or Ctrl + Esc might do the trick, but I can't guarantee that.

well of cause thats simple though however with ffs alt+tab does not work never the less whether the game was designed to run in a window or not i believe it is possible. for instance having a program run ff8 within its own window.

now what immediately pops to mind is VM but thats just a waist of time to play a game i think.

Oh I thought you were talking about emulators.

No no, the actual PC version of the game. I just think it would be nice to be able to play the game in a window rather then full screen being that my resolution is extreamly high and every time I run FF8 it sets it to 6x8.

just something to look into i guess.

If any knows a solution to this even if it is re-programming the ff8.exe file then please post your ideas.

Thank you

I saw a post in the FFVII section about hack programs that have been developed to enhance the PC version of that game, but I've never heard of anything like it for FFVIII. Still, if anyone has heard anything about anything like that, feel free to post it here.

You mean mods. And I couldn't find any, I found a few game patches (developed to fix PC bugs)... I don't think there can be many (if any) mods for FFVIII, just becuase they could only be side quests...

Not quite most Mods give items or let you do something a Character wouldn't do or even Reskins. Take for example Kotor I Holowin Plugin Mods It gives Hk a Camo redisgn that is cool as well let you wander around as Darth Revan in all his Cool as heck self.
Mods can do ANYTHING the mod designer wishes if they are good enough even like say have Seifer join the Party or something. His model is already loaded as well his ability to do most attacks and summons he just wouldn't be able to Upgrade weapons and maybe do anything beyond the Fire Cross Limit.

Oh yes, I know, mods are AMAZING!!! There are some for FFVII that let you play as Sephiroth or Aeris (after her death)... Some games have a huge amount of mods like the Elder Scrolls games... The point was I couldn't find any....

Same here, I know a fair bit when it comes to programming, but that sort of thing is outside my scope of knowledge. I suppose the reason FFVII has so many mods available is because of its massive popularity. Not that FFVIII isn't popular, but not nearly on the same crazy scale.
