Thanks for the pics.

Like you, I'm ticked off that they choose the mobile phone as their portable platform. Before Crisis didn't even come to the States. Why not release it on DS, or PSP? Then EVERYONE could enjoy it.

Nice FFXIII screens (http://ff12.gamigo.de/cms/final-fantasy-xiii/content/screenshots.html)

Scans and screens (http://www.ffworld.info/x_photos_47_final-fantasy-xiii.html)

The blond male character's appearance is a little disappointing because I was instantly reminded of a previous FF character. The female character has a nice design, though. I heard the artist had a lot of trouble coming up with it.

Nice visual, though. The skin rendered like real skins.
Weee, I just love FF graphics xD

Considering she has a gun leveled at someone I think she has the right.

And yes she is Hot.=) Though I want her weapon.

I know that this is being done by the KH team... But I degress, I have done little research into this game...And I'm curios, does anyone know what kinda battle engine that this game is using?

Well I have done some looks into it. They have said they are trying to make it more like what we saw in FFAC all the jump around block and so forth and from the trailer it looks like you can freeze time then Combo up attacks. She stabs an enemy knocks him up into the air then throws a fireball and a group and it shows what looks like a Combo gauge though how it all will work I don't know yet.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is being made by the KH team. The regular Final Fantasy XIII is being made by Motomu Toriyama of FFX and X-2 fame.

The new character models are really inspired. As much as I liked XII, no FF character from the main series has been that memorable since FF IX on PS1, and characters are vital in an RPG in my opinion.

If the graphics really look like this, this will be my latest WOAAA moment in gaming (see other thread).

And I started a new thread about the Battle system. Seems like it will be more dinamic than anything we've experienced in a RPG type game (I use RPG as a "game that gives you control over multiple characters that you level up and lead through a evolving story, etc... ok Prak?).

The scenes where Lightning is in "game battle mode" are in fact the graphics. Watch the HD trailer at gametrailers.com and if you look close you can tell the difference between the FMV and actual game footage - which are very little.

Hynad
03-15-2007, 06:40 AM
yeah, I noticed it, it's even easier to see when you watch some stills from it.

But as far as I know, this footage was made from an early build, and just like the Killzone 2 video from E3, this can be a tech demo just to show what it CAN end up looking like.

But I still say it, if it does in fact look like this during the gameplay, I'm totally sold! (okay, it does sound like a graphic whore, but... who are you to judge? :P)

For a launch game, Resistance: Fall of Man looks absolutely spectacular. Granted, even Motor Storm looks beautiful for not having any actual characters. I wouldn't doubt the final version of FFXIII looked better then what we've seen by the time it comes out.

Meh, stunning graphics don't make a good game. If the gameplay blows, either by being to easy or too boring, I'm going to return it like I did FF12 and get something else. At this point, I'm as skeptical with this as I am with any other game that hasn't been released.

Albel
03-15-2007, 06:57 PM
I agree with Zetsumei... I haven't been satisfied with square over the past couple years... I quit playing FFXII about 75 hours into it... FFX-2 was pretty lame, expecially its battle engine... And FFX was idiot proof...

Impressive screens. But I agree with some people, yes.
The Final Fantasy games have not been living up to their names in the past couple of years. I found most games a real drag to play. For me, it basically ended at FFX. FFX-2 was down right shamefull. I don't think anyone played XI that much. I've completed FFXII a month ago and despite the 'innovative' battle-system, the game didn't leave a good impression.

FFIII, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX. Each bestowes wonderful memories and a feeling words fail to describe. Square Enix should really put outstanding effort into the upcoming FFXIII/FFVersusXIII games, hope they achieve the same.

That looks wonderful, here's the information:

As part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis project, Final Fantasy XIII embarks on an adventure full of mysticism, friendship, and strife in the name of destiny. The world calls for change. Chosen by the crystal to guide the world into this new era of change, Lightning attempts to overthrow the government from which she was cast. Cocoon, for many, is the ideal state of life. Or at least it was. Prosperity reigned upon its inhabitants. Powered by the crystal, they were given everything they would ever need: machines, magic, and other living beings. The citizens of Cocoon were thankful, but soon became scared of the threat posed from without. The people of Cocoon grew scronful, outlawing any suspicious personae to the world below: Pulse. Lighning is one such person, and has witnessed the resulting injustice first-hand that has begun to overtake the world of Cocoon. After becoming friends with many of Pulse's inhabitants, she has begun to realize her true destiny.

Worlds

Cocoon:
The world above, as the people of Pulse know it, was enchanted by a magical crystal that established everything that the world has now become. Monorails and hover lanes divide the living sections of the inhabitants. This is a global utopia for all kinds of modern technology. Better yet, it is a place that is constantly evolving. The technology has become so advanced that the place has now decorated itself into a formidable fortress. The defenses accrued have made Cocoon a safe haven from the denizens below, but the people of Pulse do not see it that way. They see it as if the citizens of Cocoon have stranded themselves.

Pulse:
Like Cocoon, the world of Pulse was created by a crystal: a different crystal (one for each Cocoon and Pulse). 'Awakened,' as the people would state. Due to the harsh rules Cocoon has led, many believe Pulse to be a breeding ground for everything that has gone wrong with the world. It is a place filled with malcontent. They believe this is the source of all the violence and misery that occurs. As a result, the government outcasts "conspirators" to this underbelly. Since then, the exiled Cocoon citizens have discovered the truth. That Pulse is actually full of life, beauty, and majesty. Even encountering a new species: the Rushi. The Rushi are believed to have been granted the power of magic in the form of summons. It is said that they hold a secret mission with them.

From FF-XIII.net:
FF13: An excerpt from an article in this week's magazine: 'Thoughts determined, times have matured."
- Nomura: "2008 will be the year. There will be tons of news bits, info on characters and summons, and an unexpected connection between the keywords Cocoon and Farushi.
- We're aiming for a demo to give players a hands on on the battle system.
- FF13's theme: determination.
- Farushi: Their existence surpasses humans.
- Rushi: Those chosen by Farushi to carry out a mission. The pigtail girl is a Rushi. Farushi is not the Crystal.
- Mr. 33cm is also a Rushi.
- This time summons are in digital form.
- A new monster that looks like a cross between a turtle and elephant.
- The red thing on Carbuncle's head is a ruby.
- Hint on release date: "I wonder when we'll be able to sleep..."

Everything does have such great graphics.

But there is so much technology and stuff. I kinda like it when there are no guns and the airships look like they are made of wood with just a propeller making them fly.
