Roms of FFVIA will probably be available a few days after its released in the US (ie 5th Feb). There hasn't been one released thus far though.

Holy shit... Buy the fucking game if you want to play it, you turd. Downloading ROMs of new games is really tacky.

There may be an English translation patch around for it if you can find the Japanese version of FFVI, that is. If you can't find the patch, just purchase the game.

I won't tell you where to find it, but I will say that it has been dumped already and is theoretically available really easily on the interweb.

I cannot say I condone acquiring it.

I would like to download the game, just to see the differences. But i cant stand playing the remake on my PC. I prefer a Gameboy:)

What Argus said, also, who would want the Advance version, anyway.

Retranslation, ftl.

The re-translations came the closer to the Japanese translations ^^
So technically, it wasn't changed, it was given the real translations.

Also...I thought talking about downloading ROMs was illegal? :(

Ted Woolsey deserves some lovin'~

Okay...yes, but remember this part:

Terra: Younger... "brother?" At first glance I thought he was some body
builder who had strayed from his gym...
Sabin: Bodybuilder!?
Sabin: I'll... take that as a compliment...
Sabin: Anyway, brother, what are you doing here?
Edgar: We're on the way to the... Sabil mountains.
Sabin: To the Returner's hideout, no doubt?
Sabin: I've been watching from afar, hoping the world might regain some
sanity... At this rate, Figaro will be reduced to a puppet state.
Edgar: Our time to strike back has arrived. The Empire's going to pay for
what it has done...
Sabin: Think a "bear" like me could help you in your fight?

She never mentions "bear" in that whole thing...so where did "bear" come from? I'm not saying one version is better than the other, 'cause I love them all, just sayin' Ted didn't try that much >.>

lol

I totally thought of Bear Jew when I got to that part a couple days ago :D

Also, he could just think of himself as a bear? Maybe he IS! Do you have a problem with Sabin's sexuality? :p

Just being silly here, if you can't tell. Welcome to Shrine ^^

Ahaha, I just meant that in the better translations, Terra mentions that she thought Sabin was one of Vargus' bears, which would make sense with him calling himself "bear".

Oh, now that's what I'll think from now on! Sabin the "BearJew". lol

Thanks for the welcome, by the way! ^^

just sayin' Ted didn't try that much

Plug / Fun Fact:

The English translation of the game was done by one man, Ted Woolsey, in just 30 days despite the necessity of many script changes to remove cursing, violence, religious references, and sexuality. On top of that, he had to make name changes to reflect the games themes and story revisions to squeeze all the text into the cartridges limited storage space. The speed at which he completed this mammoth task resulted in some questionable choices, including Woolseys infamous translation of Son of a bitch! in the original Japanese to Son of a submariner! in the American version.

Son of a submariner is funny ;;

It's infamous. And funny because no one would think it is funny, and when they realise that it suddenly does become funny.

I am so drunk right now...

They were annoyed that you responded to a two-year-old post, not that you provided a link. I'm pretty sure Shadow Mage has figured it out since February 2007.

But welcome to the Shrine nonetheless. The admins would prefer you didn't bring back threads this old. Lesson learned.

EDIT: Lesson learned. Dude. You've necro-bumped 10 threads in the hour since I posted this.

Oh I knew this. But why put "bear" when they were using "Body builder"? :(

Maybe there wasn't enough space in the dialogue window. Don't know.
