I am sure this part off the forum gets asked this question tons of times, but what would you suggest I get for Anime. I like movies with a deep story and fighting and maybe some limbs flying off every once in awhile.Could you please give me some recommendations, please:PuppyDog:

you know it might have helped of you made a list of any anime that you've seen. So without that list here's some suggestions:

Dragonball Z - oh yeah you'll getting fight and occasional limbs flying through the air.

gundam wing- huge mechs fight, what could be better?

other than those two I can't think of any anime that fits your request that I've seen.

Actually, I'm going to suggest you to STAY away from dragon ball z. It used to be one of the best, but trust me, there are so many other anime out there that are 100 times better than dragon ball. I haven't watched too much fighting anime(don't like them since they usually don't have good plot lines like dragon ball), but pretty much every Otaku in the world loves Rurouni Kenshin. Kenshin actually contains a good story with lovable characters. Also, Record of Lodoss War is good, and Escaflowne.

Some good mecha animes are Evangelion, Gundam, and Vandread. If you haven't watched Evangelion then you must watch it. You've never seen "real anime" until you watch Evangelion.XD

Then there are some of my personal favs like Tales of Eternia, and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen. You probably won't like them as much as Kenshin though, since they are only average. I like them because of personal reasons.

I have to go with megalomania (That guy has a good taste!).
Get Kenshin. I suppose youll get plenty of interesting fighting scenes, a plot thatll never be boring, armies of cool characters and your desire to see blood spilled and arms and legs cut will be satisfied, too. Hehe.

You should get movies rather than episodes.. much better when you actually take the time to consider it. I made a well thought of list that might suit your needs..

Rurouni Kenshin OVAs - Feudal Japan and the "Warring States" era, very nicely done story and fighting.

Macross Plus (unedited) - Very nice story, some nudity and some violence and blood.

Kite (unedited) - Recently released into the states, the unedited version has some underaged hentai. But a very nice story again and alot of blood. No swords, guns are the medium here.

Mezzo Forte - Alot like Kite but better.

Boogiepop Phantom - Serial (yeah I know I discouraged series). Its very abstract and one of those movies that is very dark and thought provoking. The story is simply amazing and theres enough blood scenes for people who are in between the whole blood issue. This is my very favourite anime. I recommend this to anyone.

All that is very top quality. Unlike some others here I didn't give a massive list because I gave away the very best artists can possibly make, and thats not very abundant in this world.. Man, now if only I can afford the $200 DVD set of Boogiepop Phantom that'd be righteous..

peace out bro, hope you find something that suits you..

edit** dragonball z...story? I hope I don't offend anyone's tastes but those two words don't mix unless you have the word shit going along..

Thats right, I forgot Guyver! Super good for fight scens and gore, but the story is very minimal.

Same goes for DBZ, Good stuff, If all you want is violance, and If you get the stuff made for tv here it will be very badly dubbed and all the good stuff will be edited out.

Hey!!! Ranma-kun again!!! Try Ranma 1/2 for size. It is a hilariously funny manga/anime. Plus, there are lots of fight scenes that are really cool. Animation is mediocre only. I think that Ranma 1/2 won't satisfy your "limbs flying off" prerequisite, but hey, it's still a very good manga/anime.

Lain's good, but it's not in the category you're looking for. (I had to mention it because it's my favorite at the moment.) I'd suggest the Dagger of Kamui or Ninja Scroll. Other good ones to look for are X and Peacock King.

i guess im going to have to suggest my favorite anime, cowboy bebop

it doesnt have a confusing storyline, and has moderate length, about 25 episodes

its stylish and mellow anime and has enough fighting to keep you content

and the characters are cool too

if that one doesnt work for you then i say go with outlaw star for most of the same reasons for cowboy bebop

hi, i am the same person that started this thread, but i forgot my password and i am on someone elses computer so i registered again. but anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. i wasn't serious about the limbs flying off and i dwasn't only looking for fighting anime, i should have said that. i have akira, professor pain(<-weird movie, belongs on spice channel:rolleyes: ), and demon city shinjuku. i have seen most of the stuff on cartoon network like gundam wing and dbz and outlaw star etc. maybe if you could also say your personal favorites, that'd be nice:D . i am just looking for a good movie and maybe a series. and i am a big of dbz. i know someone at my school that suggested evangelion. i don't care so much about fightin as i do about a deep, thought provoking story, so maybe you could say what those are. rating doesn't really matter, so it doesn't really matter, if it is uncut or not, but i prefer unedited, seems better fro some reason. there is a lot of suggestions so thatnk you. and what the hell does otaku mean, i remember seeing someplace else, but does it mean something like anime guru:confused:

DBZ may have been pretty sucky as an anime but Dragonball is still good.

Oh you should just get Lain. (That did not sound right.) Who cares if it isn't in the genre you're looking for. I've discoverd that serching for anime by genre can get so boring. Me, I just look at each one I see and decide which one to watch.

I started watching Hikaru no Go recently. I'm reading the manga too. At first I was expecting it to be really boring, but I couldn't have been more wrong. It's quite entertaining, actually. I enjoyed it a lot.

If you want limbs flying off....you should get Princess Mononoke. That definetly had gore.

I would also recommend all the ones MINT suggested.:D
