I've seen that there's a general distaste for Lulu on these boards since she's not a very amiable character. Personally, my opinion of her is that she's a very well-developed character in FFX. She's very critical, blunt and tends to bring the other characters back down-to-spira. Even though she's serious to a fault and only exhibits humor in a dry, sarcastic way, I believe she has some redeeming qualities.

Lulu's stoic personality allows her to persevere and continue being a guardian despite her past failures. She understands the meaning of, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." I know people in my life who just don't have the strength, or the courage, to continue as she did. Lulu had one summoner quit his pilgrimage and one summoner die along the way. Since Lulu was the only one guarding Lady Ginnem at the time of her death, Lulu never forgave herself. Despite all of her past hardship, she made the difficult decision to become a guardian to Yuna, someone who Tidus (and others) often describe "like a sister to Lulu".

To me, her dedication to her friends, and her ability to never give up, is something that I find admirable. While she may not be the sweetest of characters, or the one with the cutest quirks, Lulu is an important addition to FFX's cast.

She does...and in some positions, can't possibly have nipples, LOL.

...and we're already off topic. Awesome, lol.

This is not off topic, it is a redeeming quality as far as Im concerned.

But in all honesty, I like the concept of this thread. Lulu is indeed just as developed as anyone else.

I didn't dislike her much. I just used to say stuff like "What's your problem bitch? Can't I be a fruity guardian like you because I don't need a 48DD bra?"

Never thought much of her, except when I needed black magic.

To me, she's that weird-looking chick everybody loves to hate. To be honest, I liked her a lot more than Rikku.

Lulu's redeeming quality? The fact that she's goth, but at the same time, have a Moogle doll. xD Opposites attract and balance out each other.

Ah see, I couldn't find much use for her in battle. Compared to past black mages, ie - Vivi, her black magic just sucked. Maybe it was that the fiends in FFX weren't as vulnerable to elemental black magic. Maybe it was that magic was just made to be weaker than physical attacks in this game. I'm not sure, but she was pretty useless to me. At least until she unlocked Flare and Ultima...and even then it was just so Yuna could learn them.

I tended to use all the characters in battle. It bugged me that characters that didn't do anything wouldn't get EXP so I always used her to cast a few random spells once in a while. I have to admit, though, she was pretty useful sometimes.

Well goodness me, you just might be the most observant young fellow I've ever met.

And I agree with the original post. Lulu's an underrated character, along with Wakka. Both better characters than Tidus and Auron in my opinion who are usually the ones hyped up when it comes to FFX.

By the way, good to be back on FFShrine folks. It's been a while.:-D

I dont understand how people can get into skill debates for characters in FFX. They only really matter in the beginning of the game. Everyone has the same power everyone else does.

Well, technically speaking with maxed stats and Attack Reels Wakka is the most powerful character, followed by Lulu with Ultima Fury and Tidus with Slice and Dice. But yes I agree, the Sphere Grid basically makes each character the same.

she has many redeeming qualities... other than the Huge Boobs - she has a nice cutting nature (meaning she can cut you down to size if you step outta line) also shes a goth with is awesome... oh and does anyone else see how she grows to kinda like Tidus by the end of the story... not in that way, but she does admire him for what he must do. (The whole sin thing.)

Also she has Big Breasts :p

Yeah, I can see that.

*SPOILER*

I think that was mainly because she got over Chappu's death though. Also, she finally forgave Wakka for trying to treat Tidus as Chappu II.

Yeah I agree with that but even then
that shows she must have a strong will
to be able to forgive someone like
that for so much... she is an awesome
member of the line-up in F.F.X
don't you all think i mean, she has just as
much plot development as say Yuna or Tidus
its a shame she was on in the X-2 game
for so short a time they could have
brought yet more to her character.

I rather liked LuLu she remined me of a very sarcastic Goth I knew who was Hot as all get out Man what she could do with a Black sweater <Drool>
But LuLu has a very well devolped past, Character, and figure that much is certain.
As for useful once I leveled her a bitshe was awesome in battle since most times later in the game you will have a fast monster, Defense Monster, and elemently monster aganist you a team of Tidus, Yuna, and LuLu with a switch with Auron handled most Monsters in terms of Power.

Anyone else noticed as you level the Monsters like Flying and Shelled ones became less a need to switch characters I could usually take them with Tidus most cases with an occasional miss or something. Where in the begining you constantly have to shuffle people to handle them.

Yeah, cause everyone gets more accuracy the more they go across the sphere grid. I suppose that if you never gave anyone any accuracy bonuses, you'd still need to switch Wakka in to fight them.

Which never made any sense to me. Why make specialized monsters that a certain character is better equiped to deal with such as wakka to flying and so forth but later make that all so much waste? It is some of the few gripes aganist FFX I have.

The one I have a problem with is why have 7 chars. when they have no specialty and can do everything?

Do you mean FFVII,FFVIII or FFXII? They all have it in some sense Materia for FFVII only weapons and armor adjust what you get, FFVIII which GFs you have and to Who, and FFXII the Lp board and Gambits. and I know FFVIII and FFXII only have 6 characters but same thing I guess.

jewess crabcake

They have no battle distinction they can all do 99,999 damage, I mean even lulu can kill with 99,999 damage physical atttack. There is no battle definition.

Revaninja
02-02-2007, 09:25 PM
Possibly with everything filled on the sphere grid yeah. I see what you mean though but remeber they were creating Characters that it doesn't matter who you play they all equal out in the end so people could play their favorites without worry.

I have no idea each their own I guess. I like to play as Tidus, Yuna, LuLu, and Auron but I would be ticked if say I wanted to play Rikku, Kimarihi-Sp?-, and wakka and found out they were less then the others or have less ability or something. And I may one day go through a play with Rikku since she is cute so to have everyone with the same pontential is nice. Though the weapons do limit them I used Yuna as an attacker once for kicks at the end of the game and she killed the early monsters but as I moved to different places she became less useful its because of how her weapons are set-up same probably goes for LuLu though if you really wanted to you can fix it why would you want to?

Lulu is Black Mage...
Lulu is cool...
Lulu have some pretty cool clothes...
Lulu is the definiton of common sense...
Lulu is clea headed and knows how to think (apparently something only Auron have learned)...
I like Lulu almost as much as I like Rikku.

I wasn't aware that there were so many hostile vibes directed toward Lulu lol. Personally, she was my favourite character - mainly because of her sense of humour and her discipline (but then again, I'm English!). I also love the fact that magic can't miss (unless due to immunities), eliminating the need for Wakka to deal with flying enemies in the early stages of the game. I think the reason why I found her so powerful was because I instantly singled her out as my favourite character (because of her personality) and so used my best spheres on her, giving her an edge over my other characters.

She comes in handy as a weakness-exploiter (I.E, hitting machina with Thunder or Flan's with the opposite element).

But that ends when Tidus breaks out of his section of the Sphere Grid.

Once each character maxes out the area that they were assigned to and moves into other parts of the grid, the usefulness of all the characters at one time goes down.

So really, if you choose to use her in the later stages of the game, I think it's all a matter of preference.
