Hi, folks. I've been visiting this forum off and on for the last couple days and have decided to join...because I now have a question. Ah-heheh lol

Anyway, some background on my question:

I've already played FFX-2 once all the way through. On that play-through I convicted Rikku of the Mi'ihen Highroad Machina Mystery thing. And I'm fairly confident I went back in Chapter 5 and got the 'Episode Complete' bit. However, I didn't get 'Episode Complete' for everything in that first run through.

So now I've started a New Game Plus in order to get to 100% Complete and am on Chapter 3. I've been reading Rin's Mi'ihen Mystery Guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/562386.html) walkthrough hoping to get Gippal's Sphere.

My questions:
1) Can anyone confirm/deny that you have to see Rin leaving the Agency in Ch. 2 in order to convict him? The walkthrough says so, but these things aren't usually perfect. I ask because if that's the case, I'll have to do a lot of things over (all of Chapter 2...).

2) If I don't need to do that, can I still get the 100% Complete for convicting Rin? (Recall that in the previous play-through I did convict Rikku and get the 'Episode Complete' for the Highroad. However, I didn't get all the 'Episode Complete' things in that run through.)

Thanks a bunch!

I don't see why you would want to convict Rin / get Gippal's Sphere to get 100%. If you get Gippal's Sphere / pin Rin as the culprit, you don't even get Episode Complete for that section.

What's your current percentage? And who did you give the Awesome Sphere to in the first playthrough? Basically, you want to give it to whichever group you didn't give it to before. That will get you additional percentage.

And to answer question #1 --- if that guide says that it's true, then it's true. I know that guide and trust it 100%. And when it comes to convicting Rin, you have to be very meticulous in following all the steps correctly. If you miss even one, you're done for.

Oh, I've lost track of the number of times I've said this here, but direct-links to guides at GameFAQs do. not. work. They have blocking software that keeps the document from loading. You need to link the FFX-2 section at GameFAQs and mention the name of the document, which in this case is the Rin's Mi'ihen Mystery Guide.

P.S.: Welcome to the Shrine! :)

My apologies for the direct link. I've fixed that.

I understand your confusion. I wasn't clear enough. I know that getting Gippal's Sphere isn't required for 100% Completion (in fact, doing so on one's first play-through would destroy one's changes of getting it). I'm trying to get Gippal's Sphere simply to fill my Sphere Dossiery (or whatever it's called) while going through my second play-through to get to 100% Completion.

Remember, this is my second play-through. The first time through I did convict Rikku, and I revisited the Highroad in Ch. 5 to get the 'Episode Complete', so I have the percentage for that. I'm basically asking if the 'Episode Complete' percentage for the Highroad carries over, so it doesn't matter what I do this time through.

Basically, what I'm asking is the following: Do I have to get every 'Episode Complete' in a single play-through in order to get 100% Completion, or can I miss one or two, then play again but this time only get the ones I missed the first time through (and ignore the rest)?

I know you advocate giving the Awesome Sphere to whomever I didn't give it to in the first run through (I've read that a few times around here. Heheh). If I have to do Ch. 2 over again, I'll give it to the other party.

And since you asked, I'm at 81% in Ch. 3. I gave the Awesome Sphere to the Youth League on both play-throughs (though, as I said, I can go back and change that, if it's absolutely necessary).

Oh, and thanks for the welcome. :)

Hoo boy. If you gave the Awesome Sphere to the same group, then you have greatly decreased your chances of getting up to 100% on this second playthrough. Right now, yes, you're basically going to have make you sure you do absolutely everything you missed in the first playthrough --- missed CommSphere scenes, Episode Completes, etc., or you're out of luck unless you start another New Game Plus or go back to Chapter 2.

And to answer the other question, yes, any percentage gained from the previous playthrough should have carried over. If you convicted Rikku in the first playthrough then you are done there as far as percentage goes. So have fun doing whatever you like there.

Thanks Agent0042. What I think I'll do is get to 100% Complete in this game, and then start a new game so I can convict Rin and see what happens when I give the sphere to New Yevon.

And to Da Chedda: *Waves back*

Well, good luck. I hope you can manage 100% in this playthrough. You'll have to be extremely precise on not missing anything else you missed before.

Getting 100% on X-2 was nearly impossible for me, until I bought the walkthrough that is.

By the way, there's almost no difference between giving the sphere to New Yevon or giving it to the Youth League. They both blame each other for fucking up Spira and that's about it, then you get a 'distress call' from the Celsius. Unfortunately you don't get any extra insight into the story depending on your choice.

There may not be much difference in the plot, but there is a definite difference in the percentage. Giving it to the other group automatically gives you additional percentage if you need it. Not only that, but it opens up new stuff to be available later that also adds percentage.
