My friend has the Game Boy Advanced and wants to know if the FF games are worth playing. And/or which one(s) are the best to get?

FFV (5) has an amazing job system and a set of quite memorable tunes.
FFVI (6) has a great set of characters, a good equipment system (espers) and one of the greatest villains ever to appear in a videogame.

I've played the first two FFs and IV, so I'll rate them greatest to worst (in my opinion)

1. FF II

2. FF IV

3. FF I

Not sure actually... I'm only 16 never seen a real copy of FFI NES version, but as far as I know yes

omg!! you've never played the original? wow, that game is (well was, i guess you might find it outdated) phenomenal. you can play it using your computer, just download the nes emulator.

I can already tell you its different, I'm seeing screenshots everywhere. GBA's FFI has been "digitally remastered".

if you play the old school games, i suggest getting an old school controller for the PC. the console games are much nicer to play that way.

yeah, you gotta download the ROMs. i haven't done them in a while, but there are good emulators and bad emulators. might take a few tries to find the one you like.

what do you mean you didn't get far in contra? i just posted the 30 man trick, lol, try it again.

The remakes for GBA are probably the best versions of the Final Fantasy games, over the original and those released on PSX

lol, nice attention to details, adding the select makes it a two player game. sorry, i'm not into boys, but there are plenty of others on this site who would love to go up up down down on you.

Prof I would play Contra with your pants anyday and keep it totally heterosexual.

Anyway, I have a NES and original copy of Final Fantasy, and I am only 16 so there is no excuse there you fucking noob. Haha jk. Maybe.

Anyway, yeah it is nice and all but the Dawn of Souls version is much better.

It does depend a little on where you're from though.

I wouldn't even try to get the ff games on a nes since they were only released in Japan and America back then.

I don't even know if there is a workaround method to play US games on a PAl nes. (I dont actually own a nes though)
I could buy a US nes but would that work on my tv? would i need a specially made scart cable?

not worth the effort.

FF dawn of souls was kinda boring. I mean, you pretty much just run around and kill things. But it did build itself from the original, but it's still not enough to make me keep playing it.

Never got a chance to play FF5, but from what i've heard, they have fixed things that made the old version suck.

FF4 i've also played and i must say, it's as good as the old version, but with better points too it. Nothing new though. Graphics are better, not too sure about the sound. However it doesn't tell you how much HP/MP you have out of how much HP/MP you have left and trying to make a second guess if you have enough MP to do a spell gets annoying.

It also lags. A lot. See Zeromus battle. For the love of god, each time you do something, it has a three second delay.

If you have a world-multi TV set, you can (check your TV's manual). England uses the PAL TV system, while the US uses the NTSC TV system. No NTSC support? That can be rectified using something called a NTSC-to-PAL converter box.

Of course, there's another thing to worry about: the power supply. US uses a 110v power supply, while England uses a 240v one. Plugging the 110v adapter into the 240v power point will definately fry the adapter, and potentially fry the NES. You will need a 240v adapter (maybe one from an European NES will work?) or another piece of equipment called a step-down transformer.

As I recall it tho, US television equipment doesn't have a SCART connector, so you'll need to use composite instead, which is good enough considering the low-resolution of the console.

I've got every GBA version FF out here in Holland ( doesn't say anything).

I can recommend FF tactics Advanced and 1&2 Dawn of Souls.

1&2 DoS, 1 is great and far to easy lol
2 is actually suckage, but after you played 4 hours it's great.

There is my opinion.

Didn't really play FF4A more then 1 hour so far.

Well, I have Dawn of Souls, Tactics Advanche and FFIV. I can honestly say that I recommend all of them.
