Hiya!

I'm currently on my first playthrough of FFX-2 and have made it to the farplane abyss to the point where you have to jump on the floating pedestals in the right order to play the melody. I effed this part up, however, and keep getting forced into this difficult battle. Is there a way that I can reset and try again without resetting my game? (I already accidentally saved after messing up...)

much thanks,
-Leah.

Hmmmm, I think if you leave the farplane abyss and reenter, you can restart. However, your best bet is to level up then fight the boss.

I've left and then re-entered, and the same thing keeps happening. I've consulted guides on gamefaqs.com and some of them said it's possible to reset, but didn't say how. Perhaps it's incredibly easy but I'm just blind and/or stupid?

perplexed,
-Leah.

Are you talking about the Gate Guardian? He has 100,000 HP, right? if you mess up and try to leave, you'll have to fight the gate guardian. He's supposed to be almost impossible to beat the first time through the game. You have to enter the notes in the right order to get through without fighting him. I belive the order that you step on thgem in doesn't matter, it's the order that you enter the notes on the piano. I'll have to find my strategy guide and tell you the order later.

Umm gate gaurdian giving you problems? their is a cheat hit the r/l direction button, and run away, people always assume since he has a cutscene he's a boss but you can run. He's extremely hard, he has a couple of attacks that can do 5000+ damage to everyone.

yep. Smarties is right. You can run because he's a boss that the game doesn't expect you to be able to beat. You have to enter the notes in the right combination in order to proceed. Isn't there like a machina or something you can touch to reset the notes??

sorry for not getting back to this. I did eventually beat him after a long time of leveling up, but then I remembered my backup save. -_-

From there, I found out that you can just talk to that floating camera-type machina and it will reset the platforms. But thanks for the responses.

I normally just beat the monster --- it's not as tough as some people think and I hate messing around with those platforms.

I tried beating it. I got my ass handed to me. So I gave up on that. lol

Same here but in all fairness I was level 69.
