ACTUALLY, it did come out in the U.S. as Dracula X...but on the SNES.

Dracula X on the PC Engine/Turbo Grafx, & Dracula X on SNES are two different games. Basically, the SNES one is an alternate reality of the PC Engine one(which is a part of official cannon).

Truth.
From what I understand, they released what the US calls Dracula X in Japan as Dracula XX. It's not so much an alternate reality though, but more of a "1 year after PC Engine Dracula X, the same shit is going down" type deal. Dracula X (US) / Dracula XX (Japan) is not considered canon, and the next game in the series would be Symphony of the Night.
