I am at Balfonheim now, I was just wondering at what point in the game is the half way point and from where I am at, how long til the end?

that depends on what you plan on doing. if you just want to beat the game, then you are about done, there is really only one more area after balfonheim, the pharos lighthouse. if you want to venture off and do side quests then you probably have a ways to go.

WOW!! I need to do alot of sidequests so I better not go to the Lighthouse.

yeah, i made the mistake of going to the lighthouse and reddes joined me, which is sorta nice for side quests. but i want to do the auto level up in the tomb of raithwall and he screws that up. i think i'm going to beat the game then go finish up the rest of the sidequests.

Auto level up?

There's an auto level-up trick I heard about where you can spawn a never-ending series of enemies and level endlessly. It involved setting gambits to attack only undead. I don't recall the exact details, but it was posted in that Q+A thread.

not sure if i am supposed to do this (post a link for another site), but here is a link to forum which describes how to auto level and the gambit settings. haven't tried it yet (i got a party member and it won't work) but interested to see if anyone else did it.

Thanks guys, I checked the Q+A thread but didn't see any mention of this, however Kilgoretrout's link had all the details.

I'm not a big fan of exploits like this (reminds me of the stunt for unlimited red orbs in GOW) however I might try it out after completing the game just for shits & giggles. Kudos to xRestless for putting that together though - looks like it took some thought and practice.

It's fine. Complete as many hunts as you can while you have Reddas, then go to Ridorana Cataract. There's still a lot of stuff unavailable until you clear the lighthouse.

Oh, and not to keep up off the subject, but if you haven't used the Negalmuur trick yet, you totally should. I had read about it when I was in my level 20,s and too weak, so I forgot about it until now. I'm at level 60 now, and it works like a charm..... If you wanna get 6 characters @99, this is a quick easy way.

I guess we did get off topic here, what else is new :-P

On that note however, I have to ask, after working so long and hard to get your levels up prior to using that auto-level trick, doesn't it feel like you're cheating yourself by doing so? I'm not judging, I'm just curious - doesn't it take away from the feeling of accomplishment?

LOL, I'm not hatin' yo.

Like I said, I'm just curious how it affects a person's feeling of accomplishment.

As with any such trick, it depends on where your interest lies. If the trick is really a crutch to aid you in getting through a particular area so you can go do something more fun, then I suppose it doesn't matter. If it's just something you're doing for kicks also, then I suppose it doesn't matter.

Nah, I'm shallow like that, so naturally, I'm fine with it. :) And I'm near the end of the game. I only have 5 more hunts and a few scattered rare game finds left. Just something I wanted to do before I wrap this game up.

Good point, I see what you mean.

That makes sense - I do want to try this out, I just don't want to compromise what I've accomplished so far. Seeing as how you're that far in the game I can certainly see how tempting it would be to just help speed things along a bit.

Thanks for clearing that up guys, I appreciate your insight.

Ok, it's a day later, and I found a hitch. The higher your level, the longer it takes to level up. I started yesterday at level 59, and today, exactly 24 hours later I had only gained 21 levels. I guess that's a lot for a day, but if you wanna hit 99 you need to leave your PS2 running way more than a whole day, much less the night while you sleep. THEN switch out to your other 3 party members and wait while they level up as well. This is best suited to going from level 30 up to 60 or so. (yes, I have the tippets equipped)

I've tried this trick from lvl 31 to 60 because I can't beat that bombking to get my zodiac spear. It'll be swt to use this trick after you reach old archades where you can buy the 2x exp accessory. And the remedy to leader gambit is only for leaders..I've made a mistake by putting them in my party members too and after 1 hr 20 remedies gone.
