Ok, granted i could have chosen a much better game but it`s the first game i downloaded.....

Anyway, it seems some hacker has hacked the official Psone emulator to run full speed Psone games. The following link is a video of FFVII running on this new hack. (that`s not my video btw)

The legal way? Buy a PS3 and purchase the games online then download to your PSP. The current firmware supports the PS1 games.

The Illegal way? I donno. *shrugges*

I soooo want Crash Bandicoot, FFTactics and FF6.

I don't have Crash Bash. Just thought I'd share this information with my fellow shriners.

Usually I support getting things the legal way, but in this case, the homebrew community is doing what I see as the right thing. The custom firmware 3.02 OE-B lets you use your computer to convert your own PlayStation discs into the POPS format, allowing you to run it on your PSP.

Even if you have a PS3, you can only choose from the selection they have available, and as an additional kick in the teeth, you need to rebuy the game. Granted, they're not extravagantly expsensve (about 10 bucks), but i've got 20 PlayStation games; that's 200 bucks to buy something I already have.

Unfortunately I've got firmware 2.80 on my PSP, so there is no safe downgrader available yet (you have to have firmware 1.50 to be able to upgrade to the custom firmware). As soon as there is a safe downgrader, i'll be doing it straight away; this is going to save me a considerable amount of cash, considering the only reason I was going to get a PS3 was for the PS1-PSP capability.

Ahhhhh.... soooo... the PS3 enables you to put it on the PSP. That's sweet. I'll do that. Thanks.

Were you listening?

If you have a PS3, you can buy certain PS1 games from the PlayStation Store and play them on your PSP. You CANNOT transfer your own games across, and so far, the selection is limited to only 5 games.

I can pretty much also guarantee that you'll never see the original FF7 available on the PlayStation Store; Square Enix will do what they've done with their other PlayStation games and rerelease a special edition of it. If you want to play the original FF7, using the 3.02 OE-B custom firmware is the only way to do it.

is it possible only with 1.5 or other firmwares?

the custom firmware upgrade only works if you have 1.5

i'll see if i can find ways to safely downgrade that junk since i'm finally getting a PSP in a month XD

i don't care if i screw up the PSP because i have a friend who works at a Sony store, who'll just swap it for another one should the need arise :P

So far, there are downgraders for all firmwares up to and including 2.71. There is a 2.80 one in development (which is good, because i'm on 2.80), but it's only a matter of time before any newer firmwares are cracked.

Haha, I've been letting my homebrewing on the PSP slip.

Guess I need to get back into it, because I've been wanting to play Valkyrie Profile on it but haven't cared too much about paying $50 for the PSP port.

Same here, but I think I'll just get it to complete the collection...and so I don't have to run ISOs to keep my original in prime condition.

Sure, i`ll be sure to try them out eventually. I`ve never played them though so any other recommendations would be great. :)

You can do this with either 1.5 or 2.71 SE.

They have released a downgrader but it isn`t very user friendly. However, i`d say a better version is just on the horizon.

Also worth mentioning to everyone is that it mostly only supports NTSC-U and NTSC-J games.

Anyway...back to MGS and Azure Dreams for me :p

And I'm on 2.04, I think. Too lazy to downgrade and what not.
