For the MIDI conversion... google it... I guarantee you'll find an answer on the first page.

Now as to PSP music ripping... how does one do that? (that way I can do it myself and not bother anyone =P )

I'm thinking that ripping music from XBOX games is the same as how you do it for PS2 games... You're going to need software that can rip DVD's... there are a few good (and free) programs on the 'net and plenty of support forums... I wish I could tell you how to do it myself... but... I don't know how to do it.

Now as to ripping from UMD's... I can't find anybody to help me... so I'm hoping somebody here will tell me.

The only way I've seen anyone rip from the UMDs is from downloading the UMD from a torrent and opening it up and looking for WAV, MP3, OGG, etc. files or ripping straight from the headphone jack on the PSP to the line-in input on your PC.

There is a plugin that was posted, that is no longer available. Anyone know where I can find that plugin?

Now recently, I noticed that someone managed to rip the music tracks from Pokemon Stadium 2, a game that has no soundtrack whatsoever, and no in-game sound test to my knowledge. The only way I was ever able to rip a track, was to record the music in-battle and edit out the pokemon cries by splicing and editing. The tracks would have been near perfect if it wasn't for the constant crowd-ambience.But I am puzzled as to how the rip of Stadium 2 with no crowd noise was done.. some kind of hacking device or something?

The link Sarah posted shows conversion from SPC to a playable format (MP3, etc.) But I want to know if there exist any devices that help extract musics from games that otherwise don't have any soundtracks or sound tests, like Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Mortal Kombat 2, 3, and many more.

I'm guessing they converted the game's .usf files into .wav in Winamp and subsequently converting those .wav files into .mp3 format using a convertor.

http://hcs64.com/usf/ <--- Check out this place if you want to find out about the .usf file format... there is also small collection of these files if you want to convert them into .mp3 yourself.

I hate to revive an old thread, but having following the guide posted by Sarah I've encountered a few problems:

1. The file that Cube Media Player creates upon conversion is .ss2 file and I don't know how to open this file.

2. PSound doesn't detect my DVD Drive it says:

ASPI initialization failed. Direct CD-ROM commands are disabled.

When I go into the options menu, all the CD-ROM functions are blacked out.

I just use a mic, and I'm about to go into C# programming. Hopefully I can make a program that can rip music from game disks.

I have a question that falls under ripping:

Can the MP3s just end abruptly after 2min30sec, or does everyone prefer fadeout?

I'm about to submit new material and I need to be sure if there's other preferences regarding style of ripping.

I recommend a fade out, though you should tailor each track's length according to, well, the music itself. (Unless you can compose a nifty ending for every track o.O ) You don't want to end in the middle of a random phrase or something that makes it sound awkward. Use your judgement; you're bound to get it.

Can anyone re-host those files and/or submit a program for discs that don't have the right files?
