You must have just entered something improperly. I used my debit card when I tried it, so I can't imagine yours not working.

The only type of debit card that works with FFXI/PlayOnline is one with a Visa or Mastercard logo - other debit card brands will not work. I use a Visa Debit Card myself for FFXI's monthly payment, and as long as I keep the balance up in the account, enough for FFXI's monthly fee, I have no real problems at all using it.

I've heard Square Enix is in the process of introducing new payment options for European players though (you can now choose to have payment for FFXI made in British Pounds or Euro dollars instead of US dollars for one thing), but I'm not sure how or when that is going to be introduced fully.

EDIT: Sephilocke, I notice you live in Sydney. If you have still have trouble getting your existing debit card to work, if you can, go to St George Bank and open a 'Multi-Access' bank account - amongst other things, the account includes a Visa Debit Card with it. This is the exact same type of account I use for FFXI's payment. I think you have to be over the age of 18 to open it though.

You could also see if any stores still sell those cards that are about $20 or so for 60 days.

That would work Enkidoh but Im only 15,,,sucks to be me, and the debit card is a maestro, and thats not accepted in Australia so yeah...

Ah, there's your problem. Maestro is actually for ATM and EFTPOS transactions only - it isn't a true debit card. Accordingly, Maestro-branded cards will not work with PlayOnline. Most bank accounts have Maestro as their ATM keycard.

A lot of banks are now starting to change to Visa or Mastercard debit cards instead, which are a lot more versatile. Other than asking a parent nicely if they can open a Visa debit card account if they don't have a credit card, and using that for FFXI's payment, then there isn't much else I can suggest I'm sorry to say.

what i'm more concerned about is the fact that there's credit card information (whether it be false or not) posted for everyone to see

Most Places online wont take an order without the name and billing address anyhow, for security purposes, and IRL you're SOL if you dont have the card.

Sephiroth-Incarnate is no longer the stupidest person at FFS. You have now achieved that title. Congratulations. You should be banned on not meeting the intelligence quota.

From his parents, good God. How stupid does one have to be to post their/their parents' Credit Card number? o.O;

I'd have ordered a shitload of stuff with that credit card number, but I don't want to cause his parents unnecessary strife for his stupidity, so I won't bother.

Oh my god --- he actually posted the credit card number here for all to see. I thought he was dumb before, but that absolutely seals the deal.

That's hilarious, there is nothing that will make me believe you are 20.

Why would you write on your profile 'I'm 14' if you rushed through it? You're full of shit dude. You've been a constant onslaught of junior high putdowns and bad spelling.

the valid dating being 5/09 isn't here yet..., expiring 5/12. if you couldn't figure it was fake on that alone, you have issues.

If you couldn't figure out that posting in this four month old thread was useless, you have issues.

Are you arguing with me? Are you actually going to argue with me when it's a simple matter of you not checking the dates before posting? It would be much easier to just accept my ribbing, laugh at yourself a bit for the mistake, and move on instead of trying to look like an ass. Please do that.

My posting wasn't a mistake. I knew the age of the thread, you'll see i posted on the most recent 10-12 threads, due to obvious inactivity, as the time range on the 15 most recent threads is almost a year. I'm not arguing, i was trying to make a few posts to see how many people were still reading the ffxi section, while posting material that contributed to the threads, to see if the forum was worth investing my time here. If it's something with 5 users over 2 weeks, then no, it'll be impossible to have a meaningful conversation and get more than 2-3 opinions from anyone.
