This is how it works: I start by posting a link to a video, and the next person has to give a little review of it, both the song and the video. Then the next person continues by posting a new video and so on. Try and make the review a little bit longer than "Good video, I liked it." Be serious, people have complained about the shitty threads I've made lately, so here I am trying to redeem myself. :(!

It doesn't have to be a music video, live clips are acceptable as well.

OK, I'll start by posting a live video of La Vie en Rose by Grace Jones.

Well, I didn't expect anything else from Grace Jones, she's weird, and though it's not my style of music I can genuinely see why people are into her, she's blatantly very talented and she's very original. Thumbs up.

Started out strong then around the 2 minute mark slowed down and became rather bland to me. Near 6 minutes in I started to like that song again but felt it suffered from those 4 minutes in the middle. Overall I'd say the first and last 2 minutes were ace, but this song suffers from being overly long.

Far as the video is concerned it's a live perfomance and a pretty good one at that, not much else to say.

That song was pretty heavy. As a person of colour, I just haven't been able to grasp the concept of "white" rock music; that being said, this song made me look beyond it's conventional categorization. It wasn't too long, so it didn't suffer from burn-out like many songs of this genre tends to do.

The video, however, was good. It was all over the place, but not over-the-top; scattered, but fairly enjoyable.

Now, it's time for some Reggae/dub music. Here's another song by Grace:

Not really my thing too repetitive and just not a whole lot going on. Same with the video.

I don't know if it is possible to not smile after watching this video. It gets a little cooky at the end but the band is pretty cooky so thats ok.

That was... interesting. The video was alright, but the song wasn't really my style at all. I think the kid at the beginning was IKE from South Park. Anyway:

The mix of nintendoesque and hardcore is deffinately not what I expected when clicking on that link. Not to say that's a bad thing, but the song certainly made me smile a bit hearing those 8-bit tunes mixed in.

Most of the video annoyed me, especially the Lord Gold character cross between Goldfinger and Napoleon Dynamite. But the guy in the superman shirt and 80's style vest was eccentric enough in his oovements to entertain.

I hate Sevendust, but having Skin in there was pretty cool, though I didn't think Skin was into doing this sort of stuff, oh well. The video was all right I suppose, but I don't like the look of Sevendust as a band.

Sorry, but I just can't take that kind of music seriously. I know that most bands work hard to realize thier dreams and goals, but I just can't grasp the concept for Death Metal. What is the point? To frighten people? To have people guessing? I just don't get the point at all. I'm so sorry if this offends you. :(!

The video was bland, nothing too exciting going on.

Enya - Amarantine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3FxJANoTOM)

Nah, I'm not offended, actually I think I made a mistake choosing an actual music video for an extreme metal band, they're not a great strength. As for Enya, not my usual cup of tea, but I can appreciate the softness and tranquility she tries to portray in her music and her videos from the looks of it. Not the greatest video ever, but I wouldn't say it was shit either.

Even though that this was clearly a rock song, I could hear some small hints of African music in it; the beginning mainly. I love live clips! Live clips exposes everything about a band; the good and the bad, you can't fake the music, although there are certainly ways around actually performing live. This song was great, and I always enjoy watching live clips.

Here's a clip from a movie with Grace performing a song called "Vamp." Warning: This clip is NOT for everyone.

Grace Jones creeps me out, a lot, even more so with that pasty white make up... her face reminded me of Marilyn Manson. Her actual dancing wasn't bad, and probably would of been enjoyable without all that make up and body paint. The wig made me laugh though. The song itself didn't impress me, seemed more like back ground noise than anything else. I'll blame the 80's for that one.

Wow, that was pretty weird! I know it was the 60's, but it felt like I was watching Peter Pan trying his hand at Rock'N'Roll. It certainly wasn't bad, and as I said earlier, I love watching live clips -- regardless of the music.

I generally don't like vocal tracks in video games, because I'm a symphonic purist. however, this isnt a horrible song, even though j-pop gives me chills of the worst kind. I'll give it a 4 out of 10 on my personal scale.

This is my favorite band, and favorite song by them:

To me it seemed a bit of a pointless video really. They are about to get executed yet they are still allowed to play all their music. It made no sense to me and was pretty boring if im completly honest sorry. Plus the song really wasn my style either

I remember that song from a while ago, and I'm not too big a fan of that style. I can, however, enjoy that style in a club. The video was nothing too special. I don't think most dance/techno songs really warrant a video. Not a bad choice though.

Another of my favorite bands, the power of Tim's vocals and lyrics are one in a million.

Not bad at all. I just can't help but to compare it to the hundreds of hundres of similiar bands out there. It didn't stand out enough, and it juts seemed too ordinary if you ask me. It was by no means a bad song, just a little plaintive.

OK, I just couldn't resist another GJ video. This live clip is from 2004, from the Trevor Horn tribute concert. Trevor produced this song (and album) for Grace back in 1985, and it was a big hit then.

I liked the song, I liked the editing in the video and I liked that they went with the "story" type approach. Some of the 'acting' was a little cheesy, such as when the guy sees himself in the television, and I didn't dig some of the visuals (some of it, like the band costumes, seem a little too random perhaps) but overall I think it was pretty cool. Thanks for sharing, I'd probably have never seen it otherwise.

Not really my type of music but seriously on an unbiased note the music is well done and at least Shakira isn't popular based on looks alone like so many other singers. Also unlike most of the others I do find her to be attractive.

Here's one of the strangest videos I've seen I picked it not because tis good but because its weird and I remeber the reaction to the room full of people when I first seen this one. So here it is the video for Donkey Rhubarb by Aphex Twin.

Sting wrote this song for Grace back in 1981, and it became a hit for her that same year. Notice the clone army! She did this 20 years before Eminem.

That's classic Grace, though I have very little experience of her. The beggining where she's moving her feet really fast seemed kind of unbelieveable but as there was an audience I'm guessing she's really doing that. It definitely very 80's, that whole abstract expressionism.

I'll keep posting some of the revolutionary video Grace did back in the early 80's. Honestly, can you name another black woman, or woman in general, who dared to play on the stereotypes the way Grace did? David Bowie is definitely her male counterpart.

This live clip/music video is from 1983. The quality is not too good, but it doesn't really distract from the overall video.
