I'm not a big castlevania person but I found that interesting because of the reasoning behind it. seems odd that they don't realize that the wiimote doesn't have to be used in a "gimmicky" fashion and old style controls could still work ;(

Yes. They can just develop an alternative control style, in addition to the Wiimote, to ease their fears.

it's disappointing, since Castlevania is a classic nintendo title, but not that disappointing since every Castle game since Symphony has been below average, at best.

This is a huge blow to the Wii, Castlevania is one of the biggest franchises in gaming, and it’s about to get bigger still with a major motion picture in the works (although with Paul W.S. Anderson on board, it’ll probably a do a disservice to the franchise).

If it weren't for the fact that CV has faded into mediocrity, that might actually be a salient point. Wii will eventually get a Castlevania game, methinks. When it happens, there's at least a better chance that it'll be as good as the Castlevanias of old.

All I'm going to say is motion-sensor whipping will only speed up carpal tunnal symptoms for the average person.

Have you even bothered to play the games on GBA and DS? They're all wonderful and a couple of them are perhaps even better than SotN.

That's fine. The 3D Castlevanias are never THAT good. As long as DS gets them.

Haha mediocrity? Castlevania is one of the best series of the past several years.

With games like Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness? Riiight.

No, with games as Dawn of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, and I'm sure Portrait of Ruin will be an expected game added to the list.

Haha. Castlevania games are now titled according to the "[Fancy-sounding word] of [Fancy-sounding word]" formula. I have a hard time imagining that those titles even mean anything.

My favorite one is HARMONY OF DISSONANCE. That has got to win the "most ludicrously pretentious title of all time" award.

Harmony of Dissonance is also ridiculously easy.

I assume those are all DS/GBA titles? Seeing as I don't bother with the portable scene, my ignorance of such titles is understandable. The point still stands that their console games (since SotN) haven't exactly been gold.

and TK FTW. XD

Are you saying the title is a reference to Thus Spoke Zarathustra or something? I haven't read it yet.

No, he was bringing Xenosaga up, since their titles top Castlevania's by being in German. =P

Actually, they're all titles from Nietzsche's works, so that probably drives the pretentiousness factor up even more.

Especially since only the third title in the series had any relevance to the game whatsoever.

Why do all these titles seem so depressing?

Because of the nature of the games, they have a decidedly gothic atmosphere.

Castlevania is GREAT in 3d some of you cats must be high. You probably couldnt get used to the control. I can understand that. The Wii would make Vania real tight. You could use the Wiimote to whip and the buttons to jump. Its just a great idea. Whatever. Chunky you probably didnt play them at all and are just saying whatever you feel like. I have beat all 4 3d castlevania's my favorites are Lament, Curse, Legacy, an C-Vania 3d in that order. My favorite of all time is either Lament or Curse, and Sotn, thats a great game.

You see, unlike you, I have a tendency to not post out of complete ignorance. Lament and Curse were both incredibly boring after the first half-hour of play, thanks to the insane repetition of textures, enemies--even entire rooms. Now if you want to play the fankid and fap off to the games, that's your business; don't expect many others to share your, uh, "fun."

At least the handheld ones are fucking good, enough to deserve the fancy titles. They fit the games pretty well I think.

Ah I see. Oh well.

I haven't played Curse of Darkness, I heard it's better than Lament of Innocence at least. My problem with Lament was definitely the repetition factor, the same hallways over and over and such. Otherwise I didn't find it too horrible, but that was enough to really ruin it.

The guy in charge of the series has stated he realizes they haven't captured it in 3d properly yet and they're still trying to come up with something better.
