GamePRO reviews Final Fantasy XII on pages 130-131 of its December 2006 issue, #219. They give it 5.0 for graphics, 4.5 for sound, 5.0 for control and an overall 5.0 Fun Factor and tag it as an Editors' Choice. GamePRO comments that the game is as "epic as it is entertaining" and notes that "By granting you control of the camera to survey the gorgeous architecture and impressive environments, the developers invite you to truly take in the world of Ivalice rather than to merely exist in it." They also comment that the new Gambit system "removes the tedium from battle and enables you to focus on overall strategy."
GamePRO only one thing of interest to complain about in regards to the game. They noted that "While the cinematics are absolutely gorgeous, the in-game graphics are often grainy and pixelated. They're not awful by any means, but are less polished than those featured in FFXII's pre-rendered predecessors."
GamePRO concludes by saying that the game is "a rare, monumental gaming experience" and that its "what all RPGs, regardless of platform or subject matter, should aspire to be."
